I would consider this on the more difficult side of moderate only because of the incline. The views from the top make all the effort getting there worth it.
There were tree trunks and quite a few rocks on the trail but other than that doable. I saw many dogs and young kids so anyone can do this hike.

Love this trail. Takes us an hour 45 to go up and down, we run most of the way down. There are logs down over the trail currently just FYI!

Lots of downed trees but very hikeable and busy Sunday morning. Clouds in the valley looked great!

Went around 1030am on a Friday and there wasn’t much of a crowd. The trail is well maintained and you can feel the slight incline going up but it’s not overly challenging. Beautiful views at the top and a good spot to take a break with a snack before heading down. Took a little under two and half hours in total.

A great go to walk with your dog. Beautiful views of lake Washington and mt rainier on a sunny day

One of my all time favorite trails. The view is beautiful and I went on a clear day so you could see for miles and miles. We brought lunch to eat once we got up to the top as well.

Hiked ice caves twice, well worth it. Easy hike, may need micro spikes in some areas of ice and snow.

Loved this hike, would suggest to start really early to avoid the crowds on your way up.

This was my 2nd time coming here. I love it. I hated outmaneuver underneath the fallen logs from the storm not to long ago. If you have bad knees yes this will be awkwardly painful. Other than that at the ledge it was super windy and cold. Took my group of ladies about 3 hours to finish. The sunset was pretty <3

Such a fun hike! I’d definitely rate it as intermediate rather than hard. The tricky part is losing the trail, which can be avoided by trying to look out for the trail markers. Definitely some scrambling required towards the end, but keep going because the view is so worth it!

Went at 1:15pm. Very crowded in parts of the trail but was able to run some on the way up and down. Beautiful views! Worth every bit of traffic!

Not too strenuous and no views going up. Views at the three ledges aren’t as good as surrounding national parks.

No snow or ice on the path at all. It was a little crowded even though we went up around 9am but the view up there was amazing. When we went down around 1pm the parking lot was packed so I would recommend to go there early.

We went yesterday and it was absolutely beautiful!! The road was still closed to drive to the trailhead so it ends up being about 7-8 miles total (About 2.5 miles to trail head) but SO worth it!! The entire hike is full of views on every side. Everyone was fine in hiking boots. Highly recommend!!

One of my favorite hikes ever. The mountain feels so close and the scenery never dulls. Would recommend poles, but it is not a necessity. Will definitely be doing again!!

Awesome view! On a clear day 3 gorgeous mountains. Pitch dark when we headed back to parking lot, best place to do stargazing! Lots of shooting stars too.

They were literally closing the road when we arrived yesterday, this makes it around 7 miles total. We arrived about 1:00, it was a Monday and were only the second tracks up. We wore WP Keen hiking shoes, I wore little running gators and stayed dry. Snow got to about 12” where the group before us turned around. Gorgeous day.

This is my 2nd hike to Rattlesnake Ledge. Beautiful well maintained trail, no ice or sleet. Fairly easy hike to the top for moderate to experienced hikers. I went at 8:30, wasn’t as crowded. The view was amazing! Very windy at the top, but I took a break to eat and the scenery was just wow! Additionally, bathrooms are well maintained and stocked. Unlike many other places that I have hiked to. I will definitely go back again.

Great rewards for such a short hike! Only 2 miles to the top, but still a workout. No snow or ice. Trail is in good shape and bathrooms at the trailhead we're clean and stocked! (Always a plus)

The cave was stunning with lots of snow today. Went there around 11AM today. The small parking lot was half full. Road condition was good, just some icy patches in the parking lot. 50% of the trail was icy, luckily we brought ice cleats. However, we saw many people are fine with just hiking boots.

I’ve hiked to the ice caves twice so far and I love it every time. The hike is super easy — just be careful of snow during winter season, wear boots. And once you get to the ice caves they’re absolutely breathtaking.

Went on 12/3 at 0730. It was a rainy, windy day. There wasn't much to see from the top, but there was only one other person on the trail! The trail is very well maintained, and I could see myself coming back here to relax by the lake in the summer. Just don't follow the Google maps directions and use the AllTrails map to get to the location. All in all, it was a nice, little workout!

Cold but not too packed!

I went at 630 am this morning and the hike up wasn’t highly trafficked but the way down was really busy around 830am. The view was amazing though, especially at sunrise and I would highly recommend. I would give this more of a moderate rating rather than easy. It’s relatively steep on the way up.

Hiked this back in November. It is very crowded past 0900, so make sure to get there early. Also, there is a much smaller ledge about 10 minutes farther up the trail that allows for a little more seclusion from the crowds.

We went 2 days ago and the snow was falling the entire time we were there. Absolutely BEAUTIFUL views and once we hit the top we built a snowman and had a snowball fight. Saw a small size avalanche which made the hikers who went to the actual opening (which is caved in halfway due to a larger avalanche) of the caves put a little jump in their step. Even their dog took off. Heading down the path there was several people heading up with sleds. We have been spring, summer and winter and Winter is by far our favorite. Just a FYI the bathrooms at the trail head are closed for the season but they had a sign posted to use the bathroom at the picnic area. The trail up to the caves are easy to see but slick in a few spots. The Road on mountain loop was snow covered once you hit snow elevation but they were manageable. The parking lot is not plowed. Happy hiking and stay safe

Beautiful views, but weather went bad!

We started at around 10am and it wasn’t too busy. There were a lot of people coming up on the way down though. Go early if you want to avoid the crowds. There was a little snow at the first ledge.
