Nice hike. Great to do during December. Not many hikers. Cool breeze. Easy hike with beautiful vista of the lake. If your lucky you’ll see the wild burrows. Head to Dillons for BBQ after the hike. Note- your entrance fee does not get you into the entrance for the main marina, which is privately owned and not operated by Maricopa County Parks.

This is the most amazing hike. Super easy drive down highway 88, park near the dolly steamboat. The entire hike has the most amazing views. Seriously breathtaking. You can see the lake and so many different mountain ranges. So fun. Moderate hike. Easy to follow the trail. This hike is a must!!

Loved this off road drive! It was beautiful and there were lots of butterflies. It was a bit nerve-wracking to hear gun shots and not know where they were shooting since there were bushes in the way. Most people were shooting right off the road though where they can be seen.

Did this trail on a dirtbike. Lots of big rocks and obstacles.

Excellent hike! The view at the top was well worth the short hike. Mostly flat, but there is a noticeable incline close to the top of mountain. A small bench is located on top so you can sit and enjoy the view for a moment. Not being a longtime local, it was good to see that much water again. Visited with some cool people, too. Also saw my 1st ever tarantula on the trail! Shout out to Rocky for giving me the courage to walk past it. I hiked this on 12/1 so it was perfect weather, but like most AZ trails, there’s not much shade. $7 to enter, I would hike this trail again.

Great trail! Any stock jeep can make it. We did about a 40 mile loop in about 3 hours. Definitely need your maps. Washes were damp and some puddles still around from Thursday night rain. Great views from Montana Mountain.

Perfect morning for magnificent views. Not a thing I can complain about on this hike. Trails are in good shape. There are a few rocky spots but nothing too bad. watch for a few spots where the desert has grown into to trail a bit and have a great time.

I drove the trail after a rain and it was challenging. The views were amazing and worth the effort. Make sure you are prepared for rapidly changing conditions.

The $15 entrance fee (adult) is well worth it, as is the drive to Boyce. The weather was perfect today & the fall colors are mesmerizing. A person could spend all day here, there's so much to see -- and plenty of benches throughout the park to just sit & relax. The trails are well marked so you can't get lost, except in the beauty of your surroundings. I would highly recommend Boyce, especially for people who want a "hike" but nothing strenuous or overly taxing.

First time on this trail. Wanted an easy to moderate workout. That’s what we got. Steep parts near the top but worth the climb. The view was fabulous!!!
Lots of sky activity today. Fighter jets and 4 planes practicing formations. Pretty cool.
Loved the greenery!! Will definitely do it again.

Everything and more for a relatively short hike. Beautiful views and you can make some cattle friends as well! Also gives you an option to explore further and take multiple routes.

I wouldn’t recommend bringing dogs. Took us a little bit to find, but glad we did. The directions in one of the comments helped a lot!

I loved this trail! The scenes were beautiful! This is a hike you will know you finished the next day! The desert was so green and beautiful. We saw plenty of wild Burro evidence and we saw a tarantula!

Great trip. Took Rogers canyon trail- frog tanks trail- back down the 109 to the ranch! Frog tanks is severely overgrown and there is no water after Angel Basin. I started at Rogers Trough TH with around 4 1/2 liters of water and when I arrived at the ranch I had less than a liter left ! I got a little nervous as the trail was hard to follow at times , but I downloaded the ALL Trails topo map on my phone and it was a lifesaver . A LOT Harder on the Frog Tank trail that I had anticipated . I was solo and wouldn’t recommend this trail alone. Luckily I met a few guys on the trail and we hiked together for a few miles before they stopped to take a break .i went ahead , but never saw them again . Hopefully they made it out ok . I would recommend camping at Angel Basin 1 night , then attacking Frog Tank trail to the Ranch, camping a second night there, then heading out on the 109 to the Roger Trough TH to make this a more enjoyable trip. 14 miles on the first day kicked my butt!!

My friend and I went on this hike and it wasn’t difficult until right before the end then the hill gets a little steeper and the rocks get a little loser but in the end it’s definitely worth it! The view of lake pleasant is amazing!

This is a great, moderate trail with lots of scenery. We did the trip in 3 hours and saw only two other people just as we returned. Lots of great views, 5 stars from me.

This hike has a lot of nice views. Ample parking, super clean bathrooms. It's not well marked at first-had to use alltrails app to find the right trail as there are several trails that spider off of the beginning. You have to start out on Pipeline Trail and watch for sines to get into the Yavapai Point Trail. Lots of great looking cactus, trail is rocky but pretty easy to walk on-not too steep, very narrow in parts closer to the saddle. We went off trail in a few parts because I can't resist the urge to check out all peaks and saddles. There is a memorial.bench on the target saddle so you can rest and check out the views of the lake and all the mountains around it. The noise of speedboats was a turn off, but we saw a tarantula and about a dozen wild burros a couple of times (once was off trail), so animal sightings made up for the noise pollution. I'd do it again.

Very good workout for the legs. View from the top makes the struggle worth the effort !

What a watery wonderland!! :-D

Pretty easy hike. Other reviewers are right, lots of cacti over the trail, especially at the end. It’s not that hard to navigate safely through it though. Got a lot busier toward 9-10am as we were exiting. Pretty views of the lake and a few tree overhangs but not much other than that.

Went hiking with wife, kids, and cousin on our first long distance hike of the season to practice building up distance endurance. Only thing that was really disappointing with this trail is how the desert plants are not kept trimmed back from the trail and it can be tricky (and painful) to maneuver through some areas of the trail. Lots of great wildlife to be found along the way and the view of the lake is worth the trip out here. No horses or rattlesnakes today, but my daughter found a tarantula of decent size which was a pleasant surprise for us.

Wow is right! Spectacular view at the end, you can continue on if you want a little longer hike. Good hiking shoes an asset. Distance and elevation seem bang on.

Relatively easy hike, but beautiful scenery. We arrived at around 8:30 in the morning an there were quite a few people already on the trail. Trail was in most parts easy to follow, but not marked that great, worth the trip, would definitely do it again if we are ever in this neck of the woods again.
