One of the most beautiful and scenic trails I've hiked within an hour drive of Denver ~

good exercise

very nice ! beautiful views all over...

To you people who labeled this hike “kid friendly”, who are your kids? Rambo and Wolverine? This hike should be labeled hard, not moderate, due to very steep dropoffs throughout the Chavez section and some most definite rock climbing involved that is not appropriate for small children. This is NOT a kid friendly hike in any universe. Beautiful scenery but some nasty surprises as you near the creek. Will gladly do this again solo with my husband. Very much regretted taking my kid!

Pretty easy, great views, a lovely little hike for anytime of day.

I took this trail counter-clockwise which I’d never do again. Too much scrambling boulders downhill which was tricky. I suggest to take the beaver brook to Chavez rather than going via the Braille trail. Once down the brook is so pretty and made it worth the extra effort. Next time I’ll take beaver brook to the creek then go back the same way. Boulder scrambling isn’t my thing.

I thought this was an alright hike. I’ve been earlier in the summer (June) and it was a beautiful walk in though we didn’t make it to the lake due to snow. Beautiful snow capped mountains and roaring waterfalls. Went again mid August and wasn’t nearly as beautiful walk in and the lake was nice but I’ve seen much more beautiful ones in Colorado. Probably best times are June and July and then fall which I assume will start in September/October.

nice quick hike up to the lake, not too challenging. awesome views at the top with a second lake if you continue which we didn't have time to do. the road up to the trailhead is very rocky so be careful driving. highly recommend.

Great trail for the pups. Enough shade and they enjoyed the break in the water about half way in. Clean trail, not crowded on a Friday and perfect hiking weather. We will be back!

It was my first time hiking in Colorado, great place to start. Really fun and enjoyed the beautiful views. Was a bit hard for the first time but I bet if you are used to hiking it would be a pleasant hike.

My family and I have always enjoyed the scenery along this quick and easy trail. The crowds and parking can get really out of control though. I would suggest going on a weekday or even later in the day on a weekend.

Great hike. Lots of shade and nice views. This would be a great hike in the fall as well with all of the aspen! Lovely wildflowers!

beautiful, moderate hike, very crowded on the weekends. recommend arriving at trailhead before 730am. diamond lake has plenty of space for the masses but is busy by 930am. recommended!

I gave it four stars instead of five because I didn’t see many flowers. I’m relatively new to hiking and would say it was a moderate hike with a steady climb but not too steep. Our dog loved the little streams and the lake. Very open - no shade so it was warm at times.

Nice trail with a variety of terrain. This trail may be considered hard for those who do not hike frequently... some narrow, rocky areas with over 1000 ft of elevation change. The river was a nice spot to stop for a rest half way through the hike.

Great hike! Definitely not too difficult... fairly trafficked on the weekend as of you approach the Lake. Lots of fun waterfalls and little features along the way.... If you’re doing this on a weekend definitely make it to the trail head by 7-7:15AM or you’ll be in a jam to find parking! We made it at 8 and parked about a half mile down!

A nice workout with a strong hill qt the end. - beautiful - the river was great for my dog too :)

Fairly easy hike. Nicely shaded.

We are beginner bikers and this was a good trail ride for our first time here. We came late afternoon on a Sunday and there were just a handful of people walking the trail and only a few other bikers. Good number of up slopes to work ya out and downslopes for fun. Beautiful scenery and wildlife! Will definitely be back!

Most of the hike in the trees. Better view on the hike than panoramic view (which you are can drive to).

If you are staying at the campground (which we were) the trail is worth the hike. Not sure I would make the drive just for this hike with so many other options in the area.

Wonderful little hike. I went with my 20 y.o. daughter and our 2 dogs. It took us about 1. Hour 40 minutes to do the loop. The old dog did fine, we had to give them water 1/2 way through. Loved the trees, flowers and a couple of pretty viewpoints.
Moderate family traffic on a Thursday.

Great hike to take visitors too because the views are epic and it’s only an hour from Denver! Wildflowers, big mountain view’s of Bierdstadt and Evans and a mountain lake that’s warm enough to hop in!

Nice, fairly easy trail with some great views, and the lakes are worth it. Got there a little before 8am on a weekday and pretty much had the trail to myself for the most part, a little busier on the way out. Tried to go a bit further on up towards Square Top Mountain, but the trail gets pretty faint after it breaks off so didn’t try too far. Would recommend!

Got to the parking lot at 8:30am and had no trouble finding parking. The trail was fairly empty, a lot more people coming in as we were heading back around 11am.

Highly recommend for a lake hike without a lot of people.

This was a nice, moderate hike. We had to park a ways up the road because there were so many cars.
We saw plenty of people on the trail, but many were backpacking, so the parking situation made it seem worse than it really was. The first mile or so is shared with the trail to Arapaho Glacier and shortly after the split is a lovely waterfall. We hiked up the waterfall area near the lake as well, and I'm bummed because we didn't realize there were more lakes! We didn't explore as much as we should have.

This is a moderate trail with some beautiful spots. If you see signs for Windy Peak, keep in mind that’s a side trip that is off of the Mountain Lion trail. The trail markers end once you decide to take the Windy Peak detour, so it’s easy to get turned around.

We didn’t encounter any wildlife on the trail, although we started later in the morning around 9. It’s a great workout, but there’s no “wow” view that makes it feel like it was worth the trek.

This is a lovely hike! We started from Reverend’s Ridge campsite but ended up returning from Panorama Point the same way we had gone! It was a bit confusing.

Really pretty hike. Not too busy even for a Sunday. Nice a shady for the longer hike. Small view once you reach the top.

good one with kids

Amazing trail. Somewhat difficult in spots but the views are worth it!
