Dog Friendly Trails Map

Easy trail with lovely woodland views. Great for a beer hike with bars on one end and Hyde Park Brewing Company on the other. Honestly, I don’t drink and I think this should be a thing just for the easy stroll and to benefit local business. I’ve been here a number of times before and after the reconstruction of trails. No matter when I go, there is almost no one else on the trail (maybe 2) or at least no one else parked at the lot. WEAR BUG SPRAY. This trail goes through a swamp. You are guaranteed to get bit.

Cliff and lake views- nice

I loved all the details , the bridge and the great signing they have going on. A decent hike for a beginner and awesome views along the way. Highly recommend !

Gorgeous, magical woods full of mushrooms today! Also swarming with mosquitoes. Bring deet or run.

Just a nice walk with great wildlife. I've seen Bald Eagles and deer.

The scramble on Bonticou Ascent trail is like an adult’s playground. It was more challenging than Breakneck Ridge for me, but the actual scramble was the perfect length—not too short, not too long. Just right. Loved it. And the view is gorgeous when you get to the top. The way down is laughably easy, but a great break for the arms and legs. I can’t wait to do this one again, and hopefully with friends next time. You def want a hiking partner to capture a cool shot when you get to the crag.

It's a multi-use trail. We've jogged, walked and ridden our gravel bikes on it. Superb for cardio or just a relaxing walk. There's lots of shade for those brutally warm days. Also, they just completed another single track trail on the west side of the lake. Great spot!

Great for children. Loved the views of the Hudson

A beautiful rambling trail through the woods, with a few fun rock formations to traverse for a little variety. Very relaxing, and bring your bathing suit!

Awesome trails. Just avoid the carriageway (boring to hike) – you can catch trails all the way instead.

Also note that the trail to the falls may be cut off after plentiful rain, but it's still worth it just for the Mossy Glen section (immediate left off carriageway at parking lot).

Loved this trail. My kids were apprehensive once we saw the rock face, but they went for it and ended up loving it.

One of my favorite trails. Beautiful views of mountains the river and Kingston bridge, gazebos, fields of grass and flowers, forest, bridges, Amtrak. Last time I was here I went by myself with my kids ages 4, 3 and 15 months and our dog. No stroller as it wouldn’t be able to get thru some of the paths in the wooded areas. We had a great time!

Amazing views! I will go it again !

Nice wide trails through lots of terrain types. Great for kids!

Enjoyed the shade and remains of the structures from the estate. A nice walk in the woods!

Everything I have hiked in Minnewaska has been great and this one is great too. Nice for hiking, picnicking, or just a leisurely stroll.
A nice lake, great view points, a water fall, and even small beach if you so desire.
I would suggest going on a weekday or not peak time as it can get very crowded.

My only complaint was with the Millbrook Mountain foot path - at the start a sign stated that its a mile hike (2 miles there and back)that leads to a some great cliffs (always a favorite of mine), About 75% of the way there is another sign that states you can not go further without a MOHONK pass (its not like i could purchase one mid trail) and upon arrival at the end of the trail i came to find the cliffs were closed for nesting falcons. I am not about to disturb the falcons but it would have been nice to know prior to the start since its really the reason to take this trail.
Both were surprises and NOT stated anywhere at the start. I only bring this up because everything else was VERY well marked so it seemed odd.

Calm and relaxing trail

This trail has it all! I highly recommend the rock scramble as it affords you a view of the valley that is remarkable. Once you are at the top, you can take a less steep trail down. It's close to New Paltz where you can go after for a post hike meal or shopping.

very nice trail, well marked. will definitely be back!

Beautiful trail. Not difficult. Family friendly. Lovely views

Stop in New Paltz while you’re there

very nice prelude to Mohonk

I love this trail. A few hills in the beginning but mostly flat the last 2 miles. Very well maintained and clean trail.

Watch out for rattlesnakes! One was hiding under a rock I stepped near and warned me I was too close.
Good hike, but the falls were a little lacking with water. Maybe next time will be better.

Challenging rock scramble with rewarding views of the Catskills and areas southeast including Breakneck & Storm King. One of the best sunset destinations in the area.

Nice easy trail to see some wildlife and scenic overlooks.

Even with wet weather, we greatly enjoyed rambling through the woods of Ferncliff Forest, taking all the little side trails and switch-backs. The trails are very well marked & maintained, and the map is accurate.

It was a mild, gorgeous day, so it was pretty crowded. We got the last spot in the parking area. The red trail is quite easy. There are benches at fairly frequent intervals. The white/riverside trail I would classify as moderate, narrowed with loose stones, tree roots, sloping to sheer drop offs with no rails/barriers, and some steep hills with rocks. Also, no benches. My kids whined on this trail. The dog enjoyed the little beach at the river’s edge. I enjoyed the lush forest and waterfall views. There was a nice seating area at one of the waterfalls. We did not go on the Father C. Jorn/blue trail, which I believe had the old icehouse on it and another waterfall. The family wasn’t up for it. I’ll definitely be back to check that out. Overall, I was very impressed with the trails at this preserve! Very well marked with flares and clear paths.
