For weekend visits, you will need reservations ON LINE. Staff there were courteous, they turned me away and asked me to make a reservation outside. A mile away where I could park my car, but couldn’t get any cell phone signal to make online reservation. This is a stupid policy, I decided to go somewhere else. I saved myself $8.

love this trail

Went on a Saturday, and saw about a dozen other people throughout our hike. We got lost because a tree had fallen shortly after the difficult crossing (you'll know it when you get there), and it covered the path. We ended up on the mountain biking path for awhile, and then circled back towards the beginning. We had plenty of time, so we did the hike again to see where we'd gone wrong. After the tough crossing, make sure you stay to the left, along the side of the canyon.

It's a pretty easy trail otherwise. Not too much elevation gain, and some really lovely views. It wasn't cold at all when we went. The lady bugs were incredible. We brought our dog, and she had a blast.

Def intermediate. Did this hike in the beginning of Nov. Unfortunately, the cave was occupied with a mountain lion, who was coming towards us with a growl, as i approached inside with the flashlight. After getting to the bottom of the river, we hiked further up for about another 30min. There were no other hikers seen

Beautiful trails and waterfalls, great for a family hike. My kids spent a few hours splashing around in the river. What a fun day!

We only did the first 1.5 and it was very steep. Bring water for you and your pets! No views in that section of the trail.

Great walk. Flat with the water next to you the entire walk. Birds chirping, turkeys vultures cooling their wings on the path. Lots of fishermen on the river.

Great running path! It's mostly flat, had bathrooms and water (it's a few miles at least between the bathrooms, but not bad). For a long run I would recommend bringing a water if your own. Nicely shaded which makes it nice even in hotter weather. On Saturdays there's a lot of people on it, which makes me feel safe. I love how long it is! Perfect for those weekend long runs :D I would usually start the trail by Sac State and run up toward Folsom.

this trail is beautiful and challenging

Moderate easy and dod friendly. Runs along the American river so there are places to stop for the dogs or relaxation.

Ok trip..We parked on 49 and only hiked a mile before we ended at another parking area. Signs indicated we were at the point but could continue on to Auburn Rec Staging Area (another 1.3 miles). We opted to just turn around there. Minimal climbing on this hike. It was just ok. Wished it was longer. Per my calculations it doesn’t add up to the 5 miles I thought I read it was. Non the less it was an easy lazy Sunday afternoon stroll.

An excellent place to walk, run, and bike; cross country skiing in the winter. The trails are well-maintained. There are several benches and picnic tables along various trails, warming huts for wintertime. Woods, open field, some single-track, lots of hills, riverside trails and a boat landing. There's plenty to explore. Kid and dog friendly.

It's the beautiful place. Highly reccomend! Awesome place for family, horses riders, bicycles. There are a lot of trails there. So you can choose if it will be easy or not. There is waterfall what makes this place better. Reccomend

Easy, mostly wooded trail running along creek with great view of waterfall from nicely built overlooking deck at far end of loop.

Great trail selection! Perfect year round.

Nice flat walking path. Saw only one other person walking with his dog for about 1/8 of mile. Quiet, peaceful. Zero shade so prob not the best for a super hot day, was low 70’s and breezy so it was perfect. Plenty of parking too.

Only con is there are only a few trash cans near the parking lot....had to carry poop bags for about 6 miles....lesson learned.

It a pretty fun trail. I’m fairly new to hiking and am a pretty heavy gal so this was a great beginning trail for me. There were a few spots that were slightly challenging but overall it was a beautiful hike. I would recommend hiking down to the stream on the southwest side of the bridge and lookout point, there is a great spot to rest and chill by the creek.

Great hike, easy to moderate. Unfortunately the mine is now blocked off, however, there are many accommodations along the trails including porta potties and tables.

Nice 4h hike, decent views of the river

It is a difficult trail coming out but the rewards of the swimming holes at the bottom are worth it!
Just take a lot of water with you and I don’t recommend doing in high temps and much of the trail is uncovered.

I'm not sure if I was to give a review on some of your hoods if you guys would have the the perfect landscaping or the cleanest people either,I bet my life on it half of those homeless people out there didn't get what they wanted either but it a spot for them to rest and image them going to your hood I bet you guys wouldn't be very happy with them either. One thing I know is I'm not homeless but I know a few of them and most of them watch out for each other like family and not all of them dreamed of being homeless but this world we live in today is not very kind to most of us and instead of avoiding them try asking them there story I bet they had a home once and family without being outcast. They are people just the same as you but for whatever reason there home is the ground or tent and that's there hood aka home. To them it's a place to be and call home and to you it's disappointment and dirty but walk a week in there shoes bet you won't smell like roses

great challenging hike with great views.

My fiance and I planned to move back to his hometown of Sacramento. I had lived in Ohio all my life, and was pretty scared when I first came to visit Sacramento with him to see where we would live. The first time I felt relief and could envision myself living in Sacramento was when he took me to this trail. Lovely spot, beautiful river, always lots to see. Path is clean and well marked. Just took my parents here when they visited for the first time. Great trail, a must for anyone new to Sac.

Beautiful morning hiking!!!! I thought we’d be closer to the river, but we still had great views. Would be a easy hike for kids

This was a very beautiful trail. If you use the map it’s pretty easy to stay on track but you can adventure off if you want to as well. The sun will hit you for most of the hike so be prepared with enough water for everyone. I did this one without my 1.5 year old and I would recommend leaving the babies at home. Dogs had a blast but you’ll want to bring enough water for them too.

Great trail. For this out-of-shape old lady it was more than moderate but still doable

I went on a Monday (no reservations required on weekdays!) and there were still plenty of people on the trails. Only downside is the drinking fountains are no longer working. One of my friends planned to fill her water bottle up there only to find that out. Bring water with you!
