Did slowly.. Took a left at first split straight towards Sandstone Peak. I'd rather heavy elevation gains for a shorter period & within first part of hike, than to deal with gradual, longer incline. Once you bag your peak, Inspiration Point is still another mile or 1.5 -- this map shows tintsy tiny bit of trail variance when heading from Sandstone towards Inspiration compared to my friends. No big deal. Hers showed to take trail pointing to Tri Peaks, this map has you go slightly different. Both are right & meet up w one another very quickly. Don't be surprised, after Inspiration Point, trek still another 3+ (this map I used didn't calculate actually stopping at Inspiration but it is WELL worth it if you do). If I'd planned better I would have added Tri Peaks.. The last 1/2 of hike is gradual descent but more tiring than you expect due to exertion to Sandstone. Views are stunning almost entire hike!. This would be great to take an out of towner hiker on. Better than cliche Hollywood sign or Runyon, in my opinion. Saw Channel Islands. Heavily trafficked though with not as much trail etiquette... that was only down side. Oh, and towards very end, follow map. When you get to sign that says .4 to Yerba Buena Rd or .2 to Sandstone, take that later.. that'll get you back to correct lot.

Visiting from Northern CA...went by the mountain biking description above. Trail is not bike friendly.

Beautiful after a rainy day! Will definitely come back.

Trail gets lost on the back side so you need daylight and this app!

Great views the entire way. Well maintained with a good mix between mild rock scrambling and dirt paths. I'm not a view person, but inspiration point was stunning!

This place is absolutely beautiful! don't forget to bring water and snacks. It gets rocky on the trail so bring some good shoes and some good vibes!

Absolutely stunning views on a fun and dynamic hike! Def check out Inspiration Point along the way.

This hike truly does have amazing views of the ocean and the mountains to the east once you get to the top.
I got there pretty early (8am) and parking wasn’t an issue. By the time I got back to the car three hours later the lot was full and cars were parked on the main road so get there early!
I took the longer route which is less steep and much more scenic. It’s a huge loop so I took the sandstone trail back. The last quart mike or so requires a bit of scrambling but it’s nothing crazy. The view at the top is probably the most amazing view in all of LA. I got lucky with a clear day so I could see as far out as the Channel Islands.
Definitely a must do.

Not a bad hike. Good weather and nice views. Can be a bit hazy at the Zion vista. The portion from the falls through the flats is fairly crowded. The rest of the train was only moderately trafficked. The trail markings are fairly poor and it is easy to make a wrong turn in the areas near the falls at 2 junctures.

Loved the trail!! Great for small kids and pets. Rest area with bench tables and restroom is available at the beginning of the trail. Recommend bringing your own paper or wipes and restroom not in the best condition (door doesn’t lock).
Took additional trail (Sunset Ridge Trail) on other side with amazing views overlooking Downtown LA. Other trails connect on top of Sunset trail if you have extra time and energy.

Awesome hike - good workout and amazing views. Make sure to stop at Inspiration Point before heading to the peak. Inspiration point has the best views and more space to sit and enjoy.

Gets busy in the chantry flats - leave early for the hike

This loop is actually 9.5 miles!

Beautiful trail, great workout. The waypoint for Sturtevant Camp on the map in this trail description is incorrect. Sturtevant camp in en route to Mt Zion peak located between Spruce Grove campground and the turn Mt Zion/Mt Wilson Trail junction. The location marked as Sturtevant is more likely to be Hoegee's Trail Camp

This is my favorite trail in Griffith Park but I start this down by the pony rides/train ride. It makes the hike longer and more of a workout. Park down by the horses and walk across the street to the start of the hike, you can’t miss it. It will join up with other trails but eventually ends at Mt. Hollywood Summit which has amazing views of downtown LA and the observatory. If you take the hike from this starting point you don’t get the best views of the Hollywood sign.

Loved the hike but signage in this park is very confusing. First-timers may find themselves a little lost but that’s not necessarily a bad thing in a place like this!

One of my favorite easy hikes near LA. There are never too many people, there’s always water and the terrain is shady. It starts at a nice small campground and ends at a pretty waterfall. If you want to continue to dawn mine you can. Love this hike

Trail was great and in good shape. All downhill to cooper falls. Took trail past falls up to pallett mountain which becomes very strenuous so if your not a frequent hiker I would not attempt because you might get stuck out here after dark. We were going to take pct from Angeles crest to Bukhart but that section is closed for frog population rehabilitation. Falls were frozen and beautiful, be careful of the ice down to the falls.

So many trails within trails ❤❤

If I could give it another star I would. Challenging mentally and physically but great fun.

Fav hike In The Santa Monica’s!! ❤️✨❤️✨

Such an amazing trail! We found the trail quite easy to follow. The view is absolutely STUNNING! We were blown away. The hike did not make us tired as it had a good balance of inclines and declines on the route. Took us a around 3.5 hours to finish. Bring plenty of water!!

Beautiful... and it smelled so good! Loved it.

Definitely a hard hike...the trail is over grown and you are going to need this app find your way! Great adventure

Not too difficult and such amazing views. Very rocky and uneven in many areas so make sure to watch your footing. Highly recommend this hike! Only issue was people blasting music when we reached the top.

Went with my friend, pretty hard if you are not in decent shape like me haha. Easy going in, hard coming back. Beautiful views. Got to see the waterfall and have a drink of cold water.

Enjoyed this trial with my dog. Pretty easy but loved the view at the top. Went in early feb so it wasn’t too cold or too hot.

Definitely my favorite hike in SoCal. Not too long to destroy you but enough to challenge you a bit and get the heart rate going. On a clear day the breathtaking views of the ocean when you reach the top is well worth it.

Fun hike with my dog, the view at the top of the summit is beautiful!
