Snow and slippery conditions after about 1.2 miles up. Microspikes recommended. Mucky mud too, but it was only really bad in a couple of spots. Winter is coming! Still a great hike, lovely view of the pines topped with snow much of the way up. Walking slower since I didn't have spikes, it took me 2 hours up and 1 hour down with a short break at the overlook.

Wish I'd brought gloves and spikes cause it was damn cold after the saddle and slippery on the way down. Beautiful hike though, will do again.

Super fun
Great work out with family

Great mid-range hike. Passing through Church Falls is beautiful, and the views of Millcreek Canyon from the top are amazing. Legs got a little tired towards the top, though.

Quick short trail, heavily trafficked.

Consistent climbing up, amazing views along the trail!!

We hiked in the afternoon. There was quite a bit of the trail in the sun; not as shaded as I would have preferred.

My friend and I hiked this trail after work. It was muddy and I slipped twice, but that was my fault. It was cold and snowy but it’s a beautiful trail and a beautiful lookout.

Fun, uncrowned trail. Lots of sunshine- very exposed, but always breezy to windy. Pretty views. Lots of rock, so watch your footing and make sure you have the right shoes.

I did this hike on the morning of one of the first dustings of the year. The snow level was about 7500 feet. As many have stated, it is fairly steep but I didn’t find it that strenuous and it wasn’t technical. You accumulate almost 2000 feet of elevation gain in less than 2 miles. I reached the top in about a hour. There was limited visibility when I reached the summit and there wasn’t any cairns marking the summit so i wasn’t sure I reached the summit but the AllTrails app marked my spot at the summit. As far as summits go, this one is very accessible and achievable in under 2 hours. Great hike to do with your dog because it doesn’t require any scrambling.

Great hike! Nice elevation so it’s just enough of a little workout. Amazing view at the end!

Great easy trail that’s fun with your dog (on a leash)... beautiful trees and views, and nice and wide. Careful of mountain bikers, and avoid busy times as it can get crowded.

1 hr up. 30 down push hard for a great leg day. great fall views

Great hike, the lake is a little disappointing but the views throughout make up for it. Take the west trail up for a more gradual climb

I love the view from top, totally worth the steep parts. Don’t forget your head lamp, or flash light if waiting for sunset.

I've hiked the east face trail of Grandeur several times and I love it. For me, it's the perfect combination of length + elevation gain that gives me a great workout but I'm not exhausted when it's over.

The parking is not great, however. There's only room for about 8 cars at the trailhead, then you have to park out on the main road which adds about a half mile to your hike.

Love this hike! And so close to downtown Salt Lake City! Very moderate on hills and a beautiful view. I’ve done it a few times and would do it again!

Absolutely beautiful with the fall colors.

beautiful

This was a really great hike with great views, but there are no bathrooms!! There's also a park just a little ways south of the trailhead, and there are no bathrooms there either.

pretty challenging, but accessible trail. Beautiful on the way up, even more so at the top. as far as wildlife, got to see a tarantula on the way down.

Many lakes and a couple great view points. An easy-moderate hike that gives you a good taste of the Uintas

First of all, this is a walk not a hike. Second of all, if I could give a trail negative stars, this would be the one.

The road that leads to it has two lanes separated by a double yellow line legally indicating two way traffic and there is no signage near the trailhead indicating otherwise. But the road is used as a ONE WAY. It’s a total death trap for drivers, walkers, bikers...

Very well maintained trail. Lots of beautiful colors going into the fall. Plenty of water for dogs. I didn’t really notice any poop along the trail except people would leave it on the ground in a baggy to pick up on the way back. Nice gradual incline. Overall my dog loved it so that’s all that matters

Very steep but the view is definitely worth it! Took me about an hour and a half total.

Great views at the top of the hike. Loose rocks make the walk down a little dangerous.

Well maintained trail but no great views until the top. Pretty steep incline throughout most the hike, so you will definitely feel your legs burn. Overall a pretty fun hike!

Hiked w/ my 9 yr old son, 2 hrs up, 1 hr down. Well-maintained, heavily travelled trail, smooth and steady climb. Good for serious trail runners (very few rocks/roots). Dog-friendly. Not much of a view until you get to the top. No cell reception until top ridge. You CAN PARK up past the picnic areas but there are ONLY 7 spots at the trailhead. They were all taken on this hot sunny weekday afternoon, but it saves you 0.4 miles.

A casual walk more than a hike. The view is scenic and worth the walk to the top.

one of my first hikes in Salt Lake City, Utah. There is no shade as such along the entire hike trail. But the view at the top of the trek is really breathtaking. Moderate level of difficulty and can be hiked with pets.
