Heavily trafficked, not everyone makes it all the way up, the view is definitely worth it though.

the breeze and view at the top made it worth the hike up!

Nice hike, but can get very crowded. I have done this hike twice, both on weekdays mornings with a 7:30 start time. No line at the rock either time. By the time we started back down there were quite a few people on the trail. It's basically uphill all the way to the top but worth it for that cool photo. It's definitely not a casual stroll, so be prepared for a workout.

Good work out on a consistent uphill slope all the way to the top. Coming down is tough on knees and toes. But , it is all worth it! Good view and yes, the special Potato Chip rock!

If you skip leg day, then you should skip this trail. It’s short, but it’s steep. There is little let up of the incline. The views from the top are totally worth the effort.

after the third attempt we made it. 4.5 hours in total with a few doggie water breaks. best if done in the early morning so there is shade before the sun comes up. take plenty of water for your 4 legged friends. the most certainly need it.

Loved every challenging minute of this hike! Great views all along the way and at the top. Lots of camaraderie on the trail.

Just hiked Fujisan last night! I hike in the Cascade Mountains outside of Seattle about once a week and stay quite fit, and I’ve gotta say this was harder than I expected. I really liked the challenge though. The altitude makes a big difference, but I was sure to take several small breaks, especially when feeling light headed, and didn’t get sick at all. It was SO cold, especially around 2am with the wind blowing. I did not stay in the huts after all the reviews of terrible sleep, and I was fine - but it may have been nice to get out of the cold and refresh for a couple hours, even without the sleep. If you’re not staying in the huts, know that there is nowhere to take reprieve from the cold and wind so prepare to be out in it for the entirety of your hike. For some reason, I had the misconception there would be somewhere to sit inside and have a meal or coffee. but not true unless you are an overnight hit guest. Overall, I’m glad I did it. But it will take some years before I’m willing to do it again :)

Aloha! Hiked again today and will be hiking this Sunday due to the not so great of weather forecasted Saturday. I have hiked most of the hikes on this island many many times! It is often windy and/or rainy but we never have issues as we always have the right gear supplied by me when we go. If you're looking to hike and want to link up or get some ideas of what this trail looks like feel free to reach out to me on my Instagram @mike.karas or mikekarasphotography@gmail.com. Bring plenty of water for this hike and other hikes out here in Hawaii.

Fun hike for the whole family with a waterfall reward at the end! We will definitely be doing this one again. I agree with many of the comments posted, go during early morning or late evening, the sun is brutal throughout most of the trail.

Enjoyed this trail a lot! We went early but it was still very busy. We took some of the trails off of Muir Woods and thoroughly enjoyed it!

very serious..but worth it..last time I went up was on my 50TH bday..let's go.
special note..its almost jus as hard going down lol

I went the other day, it got pretty muddy and wet towards the top. If you have crampons that will help. I'm going up the "back way" this Sunday the 19th. if you'd like to join send me a message on instagram @angelo_q. Make sure to bring food and water and maybe some layers because it can get pretty windy and wet up top

Every step was worth every second of the beautiful views.

Great hike but really challenging! Need enough hydration to complete during summer.

good hike if your looking for a workout. go as early as possible to beat the crowds. At a maderate pace finished on just over an hour.

In the top 2 hikes of any I've done. I'm from the Midwest so this was certainly a change. Great, moderately strenuous hike up. Then a nice rest at the cold waterfall and a fairly easy hike back down.

Hiked in one straight shot, but I would not recommend it simply due to the altitude change and need to acclimate: many others, including myself, get sick closer to the top. I missed the crowds going up by starting the hike at night, and made it to station 9 for the sunrise (it is a better chance of seeing the sunrise here, those at the top didnt witness it due to fog). If hiking at night, make sure you have a headlamp because you will need your hands. IMPORTANT: there is nowhere to get water on the way down, so buy more if you need it at the top, and use the facilities as it will be at least 1.5 hours before there is another opportunity. unless you run down, which I highly discourage due to mud and loose dirt. 2 hiking sticks will make this trek down mich easier as well. I did not stop to rest at a station, but if you plan to then you need to make reservations ahead of time.

*lovely as it gets near reno.
*last mile into falls area is wonderfully shaded and beautiful.
* bring lots and lots of water for your four legged companions in the summer.
*loved following the creek all along the way.

beautiful hike

For a continuous moderately paced hike, you can make it up to the summit in 1 hour. If you start right before 7 the mountain will shade you up until the last mile of the hike. Between 2- 1 1/2 mile point from the summit there seems to be an endless set of steps that are pretty challenging. Past the potato chip rock there is not much else and a radio station that ruins part of the view, but overall a decent hike.

In town until the 23rd and would like to do the stairs. If anyone is going up between now and then please let me know. Best way to reach me is 503-313-4486

Someone going to the stairs today? Right now??

Hiked alone. Met folks along the way. Sunrise was incredible. Rested at Basecamp 9.

As an amateur hiker, I found this moderately challenging but satisfying. Lots of incline but with a wonderful view. It was a beautiful scenic route and heavily shaded. Terrain was a bit loose in some areas so the correct shoes for this hike is essential. Parking was a bit confusing and I think we began at the wrong end as we started decline end first. I would not bring my children here however there was a family with small children. Overall, one of my favorites so far, definitely one to do again (in the the spring, when there’s more water)
