Great day! Enjoyed the solitude of the Beatout as well.

Maybe a bit more moderate than easy going uphill, but it was a beautiful trail. The first Lake was so big and peaceful. Nice quiet trail but definitely more traffic on it by early afternoon.

This was my 2nd time making this loop, and it didn’t disappoint. We had cloud cover for most of the hike, which helped with potential heat. The smoke hadn’t rolled in yet so we had great views. Clean, well-marked trail, lots of off-shoots for fun views, and a great pay-off at the end. Make sure you look back to the range off the other side, and also take a left and scramble out the point for spectacular full views off the summit.

I hiked up this morning. Be forewarned - they have drained the lake. It is currently a much smaller, much less attractive lake. I'd skip hiking here until it is refilled. And I don't know when that will be.

Great hike. Beautiful views.

They say it's hard. How hard can it be, you think? They're not lying - it's HARD. To the saddle it gets hard-steep but not hard-technical about 2.5 mi in, where for the next 0.6 mi you climb 1,000 ft and it's RELENTLESS. You go up rocks (imagine the rocks in a mountain stream) rather than a dirt trail. It definitely gets your heart rate up and your legs wobbly. It would be ok up to the saddle with a kid but challenging: a lot of times you have to step up higher than adult-knee high so for a kid it would be very tiring.
Once you get to the saddle, the way up to the summit is 500 ft up in 0.4 miles, and very technical. I would think twice about taking a kid there, or even someone who is not very sure-footed or who is scared of heights. Look in the photos for a picture by Christine Cote that looks straight up: that's the way you're going. You really have to look for footholds at every step. Going down is equally challenging.

Once you get to the summit though, you're on top of the world. No picture can do justice to the view there. You just don't want to leave.

Note that mid-August the streams were dry; no point in bringing a filter. Just bring plenty of water; I went through 2 L and ran out with about 1.5 mile to go.

1:56 ascent not stopping and at a solid pace, 1:36 descent jogging at times.

Go to BelSquare if you want to be around this many people. Beautiful lake. Lots of bugs. Very scenic trail.

Hike is beautiful, but it is so packed and literally ZERO trail etiquette. Lots of loud people on the trail. Because of the amount of people we turned off snow lake and went up to another small lake. Couldn’t get down to the water but had beautiful views and ended up being a 5 mile in and out hike. Won’t do it again but it is very beautiful.

I love this hike. So beautiful and a great escape from the heat. Amazing views and the best reward; silver lake.

Nice little hike. There are more wildflowers and clearer lakes on the south side of the canyon, though.

Got an early start to this hike (around 7-8) and it was a little chilly. The first 1/3 of the hike is in a beautiful aspen forest. Couldn’t get enough of the foliage! The hike then opens up and you’re able to see some beautiful views of the back of timpanogos. After a short steep section to the top, we were rewarded with a view of the amazing lake. It was around 9 at that point but the lake was warm enough that I took a quick swim. Beautiful clear lake! As we descended it got really crowded so I suggest if you want to have this lake to yourself come early.
All in all one of my favorite hikes out there.

Wonderful trail! The lake is crystal-clear. If you want to avoid crowds, go early in the morning.

Challenging and fun!

Solid trail. Not tough but good length. Bring that bug spray and get an early start because it gets busy but great longer hike for beginners.

Phenomenal views...great climb but not overly strenuous...surrounded by mountains with different views along the way. Lake views and waterfalls too. 4 hr trip including a lunch break...cool at the top...long sleeve or a light jacket recommended. $5 fee if you want to park at the trailhead.

We went on a really smoky day and missed a lot of the views. The trail is pretty steep the whole way up, but not brutal. The views from the peak are awesome! Totally cool hike.

Amazing!

Excellent Views make the bouldering WELL worth it!

I absolutely loved the Alpine lake!

Definitely one to add to the List if not already on there!

This was our 1st hike and we were ill prepared. I thought a pair of Nike Tennis would be fine, but boy was I wrong. The hike was beautiful though. Swimming in the lake was very rewarding. My feet hated me afterwards however!

I’ve done his trail twice. It’s really good. Well trafficked so if you get hurt there’s someone close by to help. The downside is that it’s well trafficked so you’re never really alone. Ok the bright side, great cellphone coverage. At least on T-Mobile. I assume Verizon and AT&T’s coverage will be just as good.

It’s a fun trail. Do it in the morning. It gets hot in the summer afternoon.

awesome

Great hike! Be sure to bring lots of water, and if you're going to bring your dog, pack them lots of water too if it's hot. About half way up the tree cover is very sparse and it can get hot in the summer.

So a buddy and I did this hike on 8/6/18. Not a good idea. Do not do this hike in the summer. Wait until it cools off. There is very little shade to stop in. And please for the love of all that is holy, bring more than 3L of water. You will run out. You will be miserable. The hike itself is intense. A lot of big hills, the top has a 360 degree view of nothing but mountains. The last few hundred feet are tough. Small trail through big rocks.

Deceptively beautiful! Highest peak in the Stansbury Range. Excellent views ! Went to the wrong summit and had to turn around and do the right one. Had to trail run in the moonlight! Great experience. :-)

Amazing Views! Strenous, but well worth it! The tallest mountain in the Wasatch Range! Amazing flowers in August! :-)

Harder than expected but the views were beautiful the entire way and the lake is perfect to swim in!

The view is gorgeous! The hike overall isn't bad, some incline spots where in hot weather (about 85 degrees when I went) seem overwhelming, but it's more the heat that gets to you so would definitely recommend getting there earlier to avoid midday heat. Pay attention to markers. The 1st lookout of the lake is beautiful, (huge rock overlooking the lake from up high), but I wouldn't stop there. Go right from there to lead you on the trail which will lead you down to the lake and from there it's up to you how close you want to get or if you want to get it. I didn't think the bugs were bad on this particular day either. Also, you don't need hiking boots (I used tennis shoes) but if you got them it would be nice because going down hill will be easier. It'soverall a pretty rocky trail, but lake is worth it. Didn't take that long either to get to the lake a little over 3 miles (just to).

Arrived at the trailhead by 10am and there was already plenty of people there (even though it was a Tuesday). The trail is pretty rocky but in great shape. It was close to 90 degrees so jumping in the lake was a great way to cool off! The bugs were not too bad at all either. This is a great hike, easily accessible and not too difficult.

Amazing trail. Morning is definitely the time to go. It’s gradual at the beginning and gets very steep at the top. There were only a few good flat sites at the top for a tent, though.
