BOTH DOGS GOT BITTEN BY RATTLESNAKES DO NOT GO IN THIS TRAIL, ALSO NOT A SPECTACULAR TRAIL SO DONT BOTHER

The hike is okay. The 'castle' ruins are really neat!

Great hike. A little crowded on weekends but worth it.

Great scenic trail. Seems crowded on weekends.

Challenging in some areas for novice hikers but overall a great place to hike!

Great hike!

Close to Golden, so quite busy. Close to the road leading to Lookout Mountain. So nowhere you really can’t hear the road. The views are nice though. Does get hot. Many mountain bikers, so stay alert.

historic ruins, nice hike, good views. give it a go.

The trails are well marked and beautiful scenery. This is one of my favorite trails to go on. However, I would suggest to get there early as the parking lot gets full & it’s a very popular hike.

I’ve hiked this trail today and it’s a very beautiful trail. It doesn’t follow the red rock trail for most of the hike, it turns onto a black trail. But it’s absolutely worth it. You can also choose to continue following the red rocks trail, it’s an easier trail with less ascending. However if you are in a decent shape, take the black trail via the top of the mountain for beautiful views of the city. Watch out for rattle snakes, I’ve seen one sunbathing on the trail. More people have seen them a lot sunbathing.

The trail tends to not be fully marked. Better to be completed in the morning rather than in the afternoon, great bouldering available!

Hiked this in about 2.5 hours with a 20-minute lunch break at the top of Lookout Mountain. 7.4 miles total to the top of Lookout. Plenty of parking spots available on Sunday afternoon. Warning: encountered two rattlesnakes on the descent (within the final mile). Both rattlesnakes were sunbathing in the middle of the trail. One snake moved into the brush as soon as it heard us. The other was more aggressive - after it started up the side hill, it turned and lunged at the nearest person and was rattling and hissing before assuming the coiled position in the middle of the trail. We had to wait it out about 10 minutes before the snake moved into the brush and we could safely pass. Keep an eye out!

Nice hike with limited shade so sun screen or an early start is best. Nice views of red rocks area and worth the “walk”.

Great workout with my pup. Uphill out & downhill back

Great family hike! Plenty of shade and not too challenging but a great work out!

Good trail, lot of exposure so plenty of water and sunscreen a must in hot weather. Also watch out for rattlesnakes, had a close encounter with one today on the trail.

A great place for a quick trail run. Challenging, but you wont die.

Great trail. No tree cover for the first two miles or so, which means you return to that at the end of the loop. Be prepared for it if you’re hiking in the heat. The portion near the top is nicely shaded. Beautiful views all around. I wouldn’t rate this hard. Definitely moderate, but I am not in great shape and I was fine on this trail. I clocked this trail around 7.5 miles.

Wow, this was one of the fun trails I've done in the past! Unfortunately my phone died while I was recording. The weather was perfect for it, (72F, cloudy) so we were able to handle 90% no share trail was not too bad.

Great trail that gets your heart rate going and wonderful views. Went up the castle trail up to walkers dream trail and took turkey trot on the way down. Saw a deer on the way. Effort to views was ideal

Easy hike up Mount Muhly and recommend for everyone!

Great morning hike. Good 8 mike hike! Great views, wild flowers and decent climb. Decently traveled today with a lot of mtn bikers and hikers.

Alrighty not the best hike for the afternoon. Very hot for summer as the initial ascent up until you cross the actual road, there is no shade. Breezier and shaded up top. We also met a park ranger at the top in the parking lot that connects this trail to the look out mountain and beaver brook so its nice to know that there are knowledgeable and helpful people around. Also this is a popular mountain biking trail too so if its a mixed use day, be aware of mountain bikers, especially on the switchbacks.

Great trail with access on the west and east ends. West end is a more gradual slope–perfect for kids. The east end has great views towards Morrison, Downtown Denver, and Red Rocks.
We hiked from the west end of the Castle trail out to the old ranch house and cornerstone of the attempted Summer Whitehouse. On the way back we added the Meadow and Tower trails to the south to form a loop.
If starting in the morning from the west, I would recommend the reverse: Meadow, Tower, then Castle. (Castle Trail is shaded whereas Meadow is not)
Good map in this app, but maps available to print by searching “Jeff Co Open Space Mount Falcon Park.”

Pretty good hike, it's fun to explore the whole area. Meandered through and went on other trails here and spend about 5 hours here. Moderate hiker.
Devil's Elbor was a nice addition.

Hiked this with my sister, and we are both very active. Took about 3 hours total and we ended up going 7.4 miles. The views throughout were great, but the best at the top of lookout mountain. Would definitely do it again. It's so hot with limited shade I would recommend starting early, and be cautious with your pets.

After reading reviews my daughter and I decided to tackle this hike. We started up Turkey Trot which then connected to Castle trail to go to Walkers Dream and then down and to the right for the ruins. Whoever put this as moderate is plum crazy. The hiked kicked our butts!! Highly suggest taking Turkey Trot to connect to Castle trail, it is definitely more covered than doing the Castle Trail to start..what also no one seems to mention is the extensive up hill switch backs, it was a struggle. Not recommending for beginners.

Great find today! Needed to bring more water but loves the views.
