Denver 2017 Map

great hike. limited parking

I loved all the different colors and scenery on this hike. Lots of different plants and flowers. The beginning of the trail was probably the hardest and strongest incline, after that it's fairly flat. There was some snow when I went and certain areas were kinda slippery so be mindful of the weather. Beautiful trail.

Wonderful workout! Definitely a steep trek

Awesome trail! Great views go to Windy peaks worth the hike. Very dry

Pretty hike and a good workout but WAY too many mountain bikes. No exaggeration, we passed (or got passed by) 75+ bikes today. We hiked about 8.5 miles (Belcher to Mustang to Sawmill and back) and there were bikes throughout the entire way.

Yaaaaahhhh! Gorgeous day, friendly people on the trail. Steep at times, short and fun.

Wonderful hike with my girls, ages 11 & 13.

The wildflowers are beautiful right now. I would consider Mount Sanitas trail difficult though.

Good gradual incline! Great views and not very heavy traffic!

Crowded today. Steady hike up to the ruins. The views were good. I guess one can easily be spoiled by Colorado's other scenic vistas, but neat none the less if this is your first time. Patches of snow and ice on the trail; quickly melted by the afternoon.

This is rated moderate, but it’s that if you are a seasoned hiker. Steep steps up and down, very rocky. Awesome views! Good trailhead parking.

Little slushy for the first 1.5-2 miles but free and clear after that. Excellent views.

Beautiful, but long hike. Make sure you bring plenty of food and water. Trekking poles were also a life saver and highly recommended. We started at Chief hosa and went to lookout Mtn. Trail where we had a ride waiting for us. It’s 11 miles ONE WAY. The trail was slightly muddy in some spots, but not icy. There are some sketchy spots on the trail that leaves little room for error. It’s not a trail I would take little kids. I’ve done 15-20 mile trails before, but this one seemed more challenging to me for some reason. The views are gorgeous though.

Lost dog. His name is Stanley and he was last seen on this trail on 4/5. He is a 70 pound wire haired German Shorthair pointer. Very friendly. If you see him please call 720-940-1089. If you can grab his collar and catch him please do so. His owner is hiking the area to find him as we speak.

An amazing views and I enjoyed the hike.. the hard about this hike is only the distance but it is fun to finish whole trail.

Nice late afternoon hike with my baby, quiet despite being close to highway. Beautiful scenery and easy access to the creek to dip your hands or feet.

Love the views of Boulder on the climb up. Rapid elevation climb. Plenty of people on the path but not crowded. Was a bit muddy and still bits of snow at the top April 1.

This one was a little more challenging than I had expected it to be, but it turned out to be super fun! Lots of icy spots still and there are also lots of areas where you are essentially just scrambling over rocks. The views are amazing though and worth the effort.

I was just glad to see the trail was open this time of year. A lot of places in this area are closed due to the mud. Some of this trail was closed off due to the season, but it was still worth going. We liked that there was snow sporadically along the trail which made it a little more challenging with just sneakers on. I read reviews talking about the limited parking, but the gate keeper said that they let people know when it’s full which was comforting. We got lucky and got to park by the trail we wanted to go on, but you may not get as lucky as we did. Overall, we will definitely will be doing this one again to experience the entire trail during season.

Awesome hike with a beautiful view at the top! We took Sunshine Trail to Lion’s Liar, then the Mt. Sanitas trail down. Weather was perfect. We were worried about the ice and slush reports, but the trail was perfect. Age ranges in our group were ages 5 to 43 and we did 5.5 miles in just over 3 hours at a steady but easy pace.

Tough hike due to the quick elevation gain- probably deserves a bit higher than a moderate ranking. Beautiful trail though!

Great trail. A little muddy when we went. Took the west leg first and it was quite the workout. Lots of stone stepping.

Hiked this trail to catch the sunrise. Beautiful 360 degree views of the plains and mountains. No snow currently. Not a long hike from the trail head... about 20 minutes.

Beautiful views all along the trail and the continental divide was gorgeous. A gradual incline all the way up, and a rocky trail which we loved.

Great trail. Very busy. If you are bringing a dog you should know that it is sketchy in certain sections.

Absolutely stunning 360 view from the top. Easy hike for the most part some areas with loose rock.

I've done Beaver Brook before but different trails and distance. It is always nice to challenge the rock climbing part of the hike. There were lots of icey spot still left and some spots are really muddy. Please do not wear sandals to this trail. It's not just dangerous but weird.. It was not something I expected to run into.

This is a perfect trail(s) for summer, lots of shades!

TRAIL CLOSURE INFO: This trail is only open to the continental divide overlook and back. The top loop portion is closed thru July 15.

Only small sections of icy trail were tricky, primarily near the beginning of the hike. It was definitely doable without spikes or poles. $8 entry fee to the park. Only about 8 parking spaces at the TH, but more parking at the bottom and top of the canyon with occasional spots along the road.

My husband and I hiked this trail today. We took Sunshine Trail that linked to the Lions Lair Trail. I am SO glad we started this way.
The hike down from Mount Sanitas should be rated as HARD. Knee high boulders all the way down. If you want to stay on a moderate trail, turn around at the top and go back down to Sunshine Trail. I was sure glad I had my trekking poles to assist my knees with all those rocks!
