Close for a year cuz bears.
Nice climb with spectacular views if you’re lucky!!
Great short steep hike...would have been even better if the top hadn’t been engulfed in clouds.
Amazing hike! Highly recommend it. It was pouring rain when we started but clouds lifted a bit at the top for some amazing panoramic views. Don’t miss this one, rain or shine.
Did this today. Was clear and very hot. It’s a short hike but steep. Views are best at the top. Trail was in very good condition till top. No bugs. Lot of wildflowers and squirrels :) The trail sign on trailhead says no dogs. AllTrails should correct this information on the details section.
Steep climb. lots of viewpoints, saw a herd of caribous, ground squirrels, a marmot. Denali didn't show though.
Very steep climb up but well worth the view from the top! Also saw a marmot at the top.
The trail is super exciting especially when you keep going further up. I was more motivated when people hiking down the trail were saying what a great view it was, especially on a clear day. So worth it!
Certainly feels like one thousand feet of elevation in one mile, but totally worth it. As you're struggling up, notice the smiles on the faces of people coming down. You'll be just as happy once you complete the trail.
The views at the top are well worth the uphill climb! We lucked out with the weather conditions on the day we took the bus into Denali. Go past the maintained trail for even better views of Denali.
I couldn’t quite make it to the top because I’m terrified of heights, but I got about 4/5 up and WHAT a view. The terrain was incredibly Streep and rocky once you got aways up. I wasn’t too sure of my footing and my fear of heights got the best of me. My boyfriend went all the way and we were just so impressed. Amazing hike!
What an absolutely incredible trail. If you are in Denali and, like me, unenthused about sitting on a bus for several hours to explore the park - take the bus. Trust me. Take the bus out to Eielson Visitor Center and do this hike. We managed to hit it on a crystal blue sky day and the views were unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. The hike is steep and strenuous, but you won’t even care because with each step the view gets better and better. Go to the very top for the full panoramic viewing experience.
just hiked this trail. fairly steep but not too bad. finished in a couple hours
This is, by far, my favorite trail in all of Denali National Park. The climb up is tough at times but it is then that you can stop and look around at the majestic views. Once up top, the scene is amazing but don't stop at the marked trail. Continue towards Denali and you will find some of the most spectacular scenery anywhere in the park. I felt like I was in the movie "Sound of Music" on one peak then a totally different feeling on the next. Then, I sat and watched the Mountain they call The Great One, Denali, as the afternoon wore on. An amazing hike and well worth the effort.
Was a lot of fun even though it was raining and hailing with no visibility. Short enough to enjoy the bad weather and challenging incline. Nice contrast to long bus rides through the park
Well traveled and beautiful views all around. Gets pretty winding toward the top ridge and cold. Good climb and distance is about right for a moderate hike.
Beautiful hike. We went with a Ranger and she was really informative while keeping the hike to a gentle pace. It does have quite a bit of elevation gain, but the trail is good.
Awesome views of Denali, if you’re in the area and happen to be backpacking, try to catch a view early in the morning. Got some awesome pictures of the summit up there.
The trail is somewhat steep, but the views at the top are amazing. There is a great open area at the top that you can explore, with 360° views. We did the Ranger hike, which was very informative. After the Ranger set us loose, we spent an hour at the top, which was awesome. Highly recommended.
Amazing
The views were amazing the entire way up this trail. The ascent was pretty steep, but was all switchbacks. Reaching the top was breathtaking and very windy. Views of Mt. Denali were unbelievable especially if you are lucky enough to get a clear day.
