on Walking Dunes Trail

walked part of it on a cold Thanksgiving weekend. beautiful

Great hike with lots of fun views. We took our 5 year old son and our dog. Trail was relatively easy but had enough obstacles that our son felt like he accomplished something. Rock climbing wall was really cool and seemed pretty easy to climb. We ended up finding our own trail and ended up hiking 2.5 miles in about 1.5 hours.

Beautiful trail for a nice walk in the woods! Trails are well marked and well maintained. My friend and I went in the autumn and the trees and leaves were beautiful. It was great for pictures, I will go again!

Really nice trail! Take my pups frequently.

Nice trail easy access walked two dogs on leash. Easy to manage with others on trail as well.

Lovely walk for a crisp sunny day in Fall.

Easy trail that leads to awesome rock climbing area with a view of a waterfall. The parking situation is a little weird, but its well worth it for a short hike with great views.

As a senior walker, this is a definite moderate trail since the rocks and roots are plentiful. It is a beautiful place to walk and my dog loved it. I can get lost in my own back yard so I confess I did get lost once lol.

The gravel trail is wide and smooth, with little elevation change. Part of it is a raised boardwalk. The trail passes through salt marshes, along the western border of Gordon Pond, and through upland forest of pine, juniper, and oak. Very pleasant and easy. Connects to the bike loop trail in the northern end of Cape Henlopen STate Park. Hint: park in the free lot at Deauville Beach, about a mile south of the southern entrance to Cape Henlopen State Park, and bike in from there - save $5 ($10 out of state) park entrance fee.

Fun trail! It is well marked and it took us c. 2.5 hours to walk this trail.

This was my first time to Trap Pond. I am a lifelong Delawarean and when I come to Sussex county I usually stick to the beaches, but I wanted to do something different. This was a nice easy hike around the pond. I wish there had been more views of the water. This seems like a great trail to do some trail running as it is flat and not many roots of rocks in the path. Bring bug spray! Watch out for spider webs across the trail :) all in all a nice day in Southern Delaware.

Better trail than David English with great scenery and variety only marginally marred by extensive bike rutting and not enough foot traffic in several of the grassy crossings.

This trail is pretty good but not great. Firstly this is actually part of White Clay park and thus hase several different trails. As of writing this the trail was listed as lightly trafficked which is incorrect. This trail is a pretty popular mountain biking area. This is not a trail if you are looking for peace and solitude. There is an airport nearby and you can hear traffic and people on adjacent paths talking.

Many bikers are polite but I have heard bikers complaining about walkers on the path and some bikers seem to feel entitled and want you to move for them. Since this is primarily a bike path the trails can be very thin.

Easy hiking but beautiful trail

I love Cape Henlopen, it has to be the coolest place you can camp. Even though its a small state park, you’re right by the beach. So you can camp and walk over the dunes and you’re at the beach in 10mins. Its so peaceful at night with the wind, crickets, and the sound of the waves. And you can always find a camp ground year round.

nice trail leads to the beach that alone makes it 5 stars. easy to walk ride or walk your dog.

Excellently marked well groomed trail awesome

and also add another mile and a half from the end of the gordens pond trail to the center of town in rehobeth. I'm in Cape May and we're on this trail all the time, if you don't have a bike there is a bike rental right at the ferry terminal in lewes, you can find buy one get one free walk-on coupons to the ferry sometimes but if not it's $18 per person round trip, with or without a bike, If the round about distance of 8+ miles, one way from the ferry to rehobeth seems too much just do a day trip to Lewes, just take a right when you get off the boat and go to Lewes, it's about a mile each way, very do-able even for a novice and there are plenty of places to eat, cocktail and shop, a great day trip either way you go! and I'll just throw this in, if you like Mexican you have to eat at Agave in lewes, some of the best mexican food and margaritas ever, anywhere! I kid you not!

it's a great ride! if your coming off the ferry add about a mile and a half to the actual trail distance, very well maintained trails, takes you just about to the main drag in rehobeth,

First time here and I have to say it was a nice experience. Dog friendly and easy for children to hike. I took my 7 year old son and he loved it !!! He did end up a little tired but he managed to get through. The waterfall was our favorite part

Rolling hills, wildflowers and birds, woods and fields. I was charmed by this hike. We ended up going off the trail that the map here shows, but ended up completing a 5.8 mile loop, using the app. We had to Ford a stream. It was muddy and a little buggy. Still, gorgeous and a pastoral delight. I will definitely be back. Note: there are a lot of small offshoot trail. It was confusing, even with the map downloaded. Luckily, there is pretty good cell reception on this trail, so we were able to record our movements and figure out where we were.

I love this trail. It is poorly marked in a few spots. The wooded sections are cool and scenic. It is an awesome way to tour the largest pond in Delaware!

Really nicely marked trails. Fun run

Nice trail, shaded about 90% of the way. Could be better marked in spots. Flat most of the way, with a fair number of tree roots to navigate. Good trail for beginner mountain bikers.

Awesome waterfall along the way! Easy to walk and dog friendly! It was hard to find parking close so you will have to do a little extra walking. My friend and I had a great time!

We enjoyed the lovely scenery and challenging elevation. Even though it was shorter than we usually hike, we both got a good workout. If you want to get a nice view of the waterfall you will need to take about a .2 mile detour, but well worth the extra steps.
