My first hike in Death Valley and it was memorable! Great moderate hike with plenty of great views. Make sure to get to the trailhead early for parking and to beat the heat. There are some narrow sections during the hike that might make some nervous if they are REALLY afraid of heights. And of course bring plenty of water.

Fun hike and great photo opportunities especially during sunset! Difficulty varies depending on how steep the dunes are. Saw a few folks bring a sled or snowboard to go down the dunes. Looked like they had a blast riding down the dunes

Unbearingly hot when we hiked, but amazing to see the salt flats. It looked like it rained recently or got worn out when we hiked. Had to walk far into the flats to see the honeycomb looking structures. Must see in the park!

Interesting spot to visit. You don't really need to hike very far out to appreciate how hot and inhospitable it is around here.

Not much of a hike or even a walk from the parking lot but the view of the badlands is simply beautiful, especially at sunset and, I imagine, sunrise.

A great view that is definitely worth the drive up here. You can chose how far you want to hike and in what direction, or if you're feeling lazy, you don't need to hike anywhere at all and just enjoy the view from the parking lot. Either way, this is a great spot to start your visit of Death Valley if you are coming from the Death Valley Junction. Also, unlike the valley floor, the temperatures are almost bearable up here.

the trail was beautiful. definitely easy to get lost if your not paying attention. i went counter clockwise and missed the trail marker taking you up the moutain to complete the loop. i hiked 2 miles out of my way and climbed some crazy rock wallls then turned around when i realized i had no exit. definitely recommend this trail in the fall or spring.. heat was brutal in july

Slot canyons make for fun bouldering

Bring a pair of shades and a bandana or something to cover up your head and face in case you’re caught in a sand storm while in sand dunes. Otherwise you’ll be finding sand for weeks not only in all your clothing but parts of your body that you would never suspect could hold any sand

I would definitely recommend going counterclockwise on this trail. Maybe hike it a few different ways because of the scrambling. Remember, do not climb down something you can’t climb up! I dropped into the slot canyon clockwise, and was anticipating shade at 5-6 pm with little to no luck. There are some gorgeous rock formations and bandings. Beautiful hike. Recommend to take a friend.

Awesome trip. Parking lot is out of nowhere and some really beautiful homes near by. The view is incredible once you get to the top! Very easy to get off trail but try to follow the rocks.

Loved this for the early morning Sun. Blue light was amazing!

Easiness depends on what you climb. We climbed one of the bigger dunes in the back and we were huffing and puffing. Such an awesome experience though. We saw a coyote den in one of the valleys between the dunes. It was pretty neat. Even nicer when there’s no foot prints on the dunes.

Worth the small hike. Such a cool formation.

Very cool, went far out and the flats get nearer and more defined. Hot though!!!

Scenic hike with colorful rock formations. The first part is a relatively easy hike along the canyon wash. The latter part is a bit more difficult as you are climbing over rocks and gaining a bit more elevation. Bring plenty of water as the trail was hot with little shade in the afternoon, even in late March.

Kraft Mountain trail is located at the Calico Basin and you don't need a pass or permit to go hike here. When you start the hike, it is a little bit deceiving...very easy start to the trail - we went round the mountain on the right side when facing it. It starts off very easy and then dips into the canyon with spectacular views of the surrounding canyon walls. About 50 min (5 year old ) into the hike it gets tricky and you will have to climb up some parts to carry on through the canyon. When you get to a part of the trail where it opens up again there is a sign that says trail...but when being new to the area and trail, it was difficult to see where the trail leads (straight on or left - you turn left and hike up the mountain) because it heads up the mountain and that does not have a clear path because of the rock face. We finally bumped into hikers who could show us the way and we headed up and over the mountain. When you make it to the top you have awesome 360 views of the Canyon and surrounding areas. It is an exciting trail.

Multiple different ways on to the path, look around. Death Valley is large so not all paths are well marked but tread paths are clear.

Walking on salt flats. Feel the heat at the lowest point in North America!

This is breathtaking. Don't worry about those saying that it's too populated. Definitely take the short trail to the overlook and then get away from the crowds by exploring down below. You'll get up close and personal with some seriously gorgeous scenery and won't see another human.

Neat to see, but not one of the best in Death Valley.

We hiked around in the late afternoon and the light was great on these layered rock formations. If you like geology, you will lose track of time!! So cool!

A very unique walk on the salt flat! flat, can go as far as you want...must do!

Heat was intense but loved the challenge.

amazing hike. one of our favorites!

This hike is super pretty ! A bit “interesting” to navigate with a few forks, but we had a great time exploring .

This loop was very fun to hike and I loved the scenic route through the canyon. The trail was a little hard to follow since the trail was often forked (though every route lead back to the parking lot). The canyon trail was super fun with loads of rock-scrambling. The trail took my family (49, 38, 14, and 12 year old) about two and a half hours to complete (family very athletic). There was this one part where the trail dropped down about ten feet creating a slide like formation. This section was pretty hard to get down though our family did it without any scrapes or bruises. The trail is very fun and I will definitely head towards it next time we're in Vegas.
