Much better as a biking or jogging path than hiking. Flat packed dirt. Busy during peak fitness times. Good option for runners who want a long flat route with minimal road crossings.

Wide variety of paths and difficulty for both hiking, trail running and mountain biking. It can be easy to get lost, so be prepared with a trail map if you veer off main loop.

Beautiful and varied terrain. Only got a chance to wander for a bit, but this is definitely a place I want to return to and explore some more.

The trail itself is nice, though the last portion cuts through neighborhoods, which is weird.

The best parts are the side trails through the woods and a swamp walk.

Lovely hike!

Well marked trails. Not really hiking yet not really a simple flat walk. I would say it’s on the high end of easy to the very low end of moderate. It was very nice but I have similar walks closer to my home so I personally wouldn’t go out of my way to go again.

grab a map at the entrance or download off the web for Lynn woods. trails are all marked with grid numbers and letters. A lot to explore if you use the grid. watch out for special surprises on the trails from ignorant dog owners, as will as some coyotes. Deer do come out on the day, keep your eyes open.

A short but wonderful walk. We caught the sunset on our way back and it was pretty incredible.

Pleasant hike.

I definitely enjoyed hiking here. lots of nice trails to explore

Fun for kids!

If you feel as though you aren’t seeing marks on the trees, don’t worry, keep looking...especially if you see many fallen trees around!

Stage Fort park is one of my favorite destination in Gloucester. It's an absolutely beautiful park with a very nice children's playground and a wonderful visitor's center. Half Moon beach is so quaint and the view from the top of the rock is breathtaking. I enjoy just watching boats go by and soaking in the refreshing air and my kids always enjoy the huge playground. The playground there is every kids dream sporting rock climbing, spinning wheel, swings, pirate ships, see-saw.

The trail is a little short so I usually extend it and walk along the scenic Western Ave all the way to the Fishermen's Memorial or even all the way to Fort Point on the other end. There's a couple of nice clam shack in town so that is always a treat.

I've spent close to a decade hiking Dogtown and it's a beautiful area. It can be quite easy to get lost out there though, even with all the time I've been out there I still get lost. A few times I made it out thanks to my dogs. I've always hiked it with dogs though, abs haven't hiked it since the dogs passed away.

Don't be scared away by the lore, they are a really magical woods. There was a tragic murder back in the 80's but it gets sensationalized too often, it was a tragedy but an isolated one, and the killer was caught.

It's also very easy to end up in people's back yards in Dogtown. People are generally very nice if you're respectful.

Hikers, be aware: there was a murder on this trail in the 1980s.
Spooky, historical hike. Dogtown was settled in the 1600s by 80 families fleeing pirates, natives, and other coastal bombardments. After the revolutionary war and the war of 1812, dogtown was abandoned, and became a ghost town that housed squatters in the abandoned buildings. Lots of rumors about witches and other such things, too. The numbered boulders signify where a house once stood.
Easy to get lost - multiple maps are needed.

Great ride. Rockport is a bit heavy with traffic, but the rest of the ride is very nice. Great views.

A bit longer by my GPS. Nice trail overall, great for h King and okay for trail running. The moraine section was difficult, and the trail is poorly marked. Needed the map consistently and still made a couple incorrect turns. Great trail for his area

Fun trail. I would’ve given it a five star except there are no maps when you come in. The trail is marked by yellow or blue paint on the trees. I wish it was clearer so that I could’ve had a more accurate idea of where I was going.

Entered at the Pennybrook Road entrance (ample parking) and explored the Undercliff Path, Dungeon Road, Cooke Road, Cornell Path, and Jackson Path. Easy hiking, although watch your footing on some of the rockier trails! Dungeon Rock is very interesting. There is a metal door in the crevice of the rock. The metal stairs inside lead down to a winding tunnel carved out in the 1600s and 1800s (look up the strange history of this place). If you’re going to go down into the tunnel, wear good footwear (slippery) and take a headlamp (dark). Steel Tower is cool too with great views of the surrounding area (including the Boston skyline).

Ravenswod is a great place to spend a few hours with the family and the dogs. The pups especially love the fact that they are allowed off-leash here, except in a few designated protected areas. With the exception of some low-lying spots, there are fewer bugs here than on trails more inland, due to close proximity to the ocean. The lack of overlooks and long distance views is more than made up for by the beauty of the trails themselves, and by the many different boulder formations, and plant life.

Beautiful ocean view at the end!

well marked, great for running & mountain biking.

Nice easy trail. Did this with a 2yr old (on my back a lot), a 4 yr old and a dog. Lovely walk.

A nice stroll in a little wood. Nothing amazing but easy to reach from boston. Which trail you take doesn't matter much, and it's easy to "get lost" here

Nice, not very secluded. I like feeling like I’m really in the woods when I hike. Last stretch of the trail was walking through neighborhoods which I really didn’t enjoy.

good little walk through the woods, but nothing too exciting. for mountain folk like us it was a bit mundane. No real hills or anything fun to climb. very easy

Need to go back as I heard improvements were made to the trail.

Great trail for walking, running or biking!

Many different trails. Followed skyline trail. Plenty of climbs. Good workout. Definitely recommend to bring good trail shoes or hiking boots, water. Trails are well marked.
