What a gorgeous hike! We encountered multiple waterfalls on our way up along with old growth trees and beautiful vegetation. The lake at the end is truly spectacular and well worth the climb. Loved hiking here today! Lots of people so be prepared to share the trail. More dogs than I have seen anywhere else so make sure your dog is friendly!
If you go hiking within the next few weeks make sure to wear waterproof shoes with crampons. It will make the hike that much better. The snow is melting, but most hikers noted the increased snowpack this year.
Have fun!

It was a little bit snowy at the top but that is totally to be expected at this time of year! Gorgeous hike and beautiful mountainside when you reach your destination. There is quite a bit of water so make sure to wear water resistant or water proof shoes if you don’t want to get wet! Super easy for dogs to navigate, not too hard on their paws although there is a section that’s mostly shale. Only downfall is it is popular so a lot of stopping and waiting for people. Highly recommend getting there early in the morning if you want to avoid the crowds.

Did this hike on 4-14-18. It rained the whole time, some of the trail was washed out but manageable. Tons of snow at the top which had me wishing I had brought my snowshoes. Overall a super beautiful hike, was surprised how many others braved the weather for it!

Went in the rain. Super wet trail. Lots of creeks and rock hopping to cross. Still a lot of snow towards the top which could be a tad slippery with some sink holes. Beautiful hike nonetheless

Amazing! This is a must do. The experience is great. It can be a little rough once you reach the rocks, but the top is so totally worth it. Moderate is a great description of this trail, depending on conditioning, and can be challenging at spots for some. The top is worth it!!

beautiful hike especially with the snow. can't wait to do it in the summer.

An awesome trail with a great reward at the end. It's the hardest trail I've done, and will definitely keep going back. It's a hard trail, and that's what makes it fun. Bring hiking poles, you'll need them.

Amazing view, worth the hike.

Sunrise hike here is amazing!

Good workout on this trail today. Muddy in a few spots but overall good. You’ll face your fears on the bridge.

Hiked to Lake 22 on Saturday and the parking lot was full and slightly icy. Had to park across the street in the entrance of the second lot, as that was completely covered in snow and a car got stuck trying to go in. The hike is really pretty easy, definitely icy and lots of snow. The lake is starting to thaw and there was a high avalanche warning, but it seemed safe to me. Super beautiful!

A nice paved, dry trail leads to stunning view at the summit.

I ran this trail in the evening and there was a pretty good crowd but everyone was very gracious in letting me get by. It was a challenging run but nothing too crazy. The payoff at the top is worth the burn, such a gorgeous scene!

Hiked up to the lake today, the parking lot was full, very snowy and hard to drive up to. Recommend a 4WD vehicle. We watched a Subaru Outback spin and have to be be pushed out of the parking lot. The hike was moderate and completely covered in snow. Micro spikes weren’t needed, but were helpful on the way down. There were lots of dogs and friendly people on the trail. We didn’t have too much visability but it was still beautiful! A good calf workout :)

Really great trail! Pick a day where it’s sunny and clear out so you can really enjoy the views from
the bluffs. Take your time and explore the bunkers along the way. We brought our dog and he loved the trail—he’s older and the soft dirt/sand were good on his paws.

More of a swim than a hike. Lots of character! Wear wool socks.

Good hike, not many people out. I definitely recommend wearing waterproof boots and bringing along microspikes. It’s a wet trail and towards the top there’s some ice and snow. Great views of the frozen lake and the mountains nearby

love this hike. Today was the first time I've done it during the winter and i wasn't disappointed. Definitely wet with snow and ice up towards the top so just take it slow, layer up a little and wear good hiking shoes/boots and you'll really enjoy this hike. Always so rewarding when you get to the top, especially this time of year. 2.5 hours total with 15 mins at the lake.

Loved this trail! My 1st trail in Washington and the view at the end of the hike was awesome! Def worth visiting.

Beautiful hike, very sketchy beyond the warning sign but worth the views. I got through two tunnels and over what looked like a very large rockslides. Beyond that there was a scramble across a slide field with a small waterfall in the center of it I didn't feel comfortable on, so that was my turn around point. This is where the elevated stone walkway used to be. There was more trail beyond to explore. .. trail is very unstable beyond the warning signs, rocks fell while I was on the trail so be very careful. I got to the trail at about noon and back to the car at two.

Pretty cool trail. Not that hard if you've hiked at all before.
The switchbacks at the beginning may give some older people trouble, but once you get to the bottom it's flat. Follows the river with spots to sit for a bit here and there (trees/ground, not man made).
The further you go the more you'll see how the water eroded the ground and you need to start being more careful.
I saw a tree fall into the water as I was walking along the bank.
Just park right before the sign for the trail and head into the woods, you should see pretty well traveled trail leading into the woods and you'll come across warning signs.
Enjoy!

Very fun and easily accessible hike. The trail has water running through multiple parts and there’s a good amount of snow at the lake. Nothing regular hiking boots aren’t capable of handling. The dog had a great time as well.

I’ve hiked this trail several times, in the winter and summer. One of my favorites. Takes a few hours and you’ll get your heart rate elevated. The lake at the top is amazing. Highly recommended.

Wet Wet Wet ! I mean it . You will walk in water in a lot of parts of this hike this time a year .
If you don't have EXCELENT WATERPROOF hiking boots , you will end up with wet socks :-)
but the view at the lake is amazing .
It's a challenging hike with the snow .
But it's beautifull!
have fun and be carefull out there .

love this hike it is easy going next to the river the whole time.

very nice hike. absolutely gorgeous all the way up. Lots of streams crossing the trail so I definitely wouldn't wear tennis shoes. Also, the snow at the top is pretty deep which prevented us from going around the lake. We did see some small avalanches at the top which was very cool. Coming down was quite fun trekking through the show. Crampons not necessary but definitely wouldn't hurt. Overall, great hike and we'll be back to do it in the spring/ summer.
