Day Hikes Map

Quick hike with awesome views! spikes/yaktrax recommended, summit has a very open 360 degree beautiful view as well!! Hike it regularly!

Great little hike with good views of Golden and Denver.

Beautiful view at the summit! This was my first time to Meyers Ranch and I wouldn't want to do it without going to the top of Legault. It is the best view. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to find the trail to the summit with the snow. But I just followed some footsteps. Had spikes on my boots and definitely needed them. Very wet and a bit slick as it has been warm all week and the snow was very melty. Boots and bottom of pants very wet but worth it. The extra hike to the summit made the whole hike worth it.

Quick easy hike and a good view of Denver :)

Amazing gorgeous outstanding-wild raspberries at the start of the trail.

Fun trail! Nice views looking east through the Gulch. I took the short trail from the Hotel Ruins to the Continental Divide Viewing area. Short hike between those two points. There was a nice, steady incline all the way up.

Hiked today. Went left into the loop as the right side is steeper and better for going up at the end than down.
~10% of the trail was icy and the ice was hidden in the mud/dirt but easily avoidable.
2.5 hours with a short snack break and a couple of water breaks.

Great views of the Front Range and Denver including Res Rocks. This is a must hike!

No trax needed, couple of icy spots no mud frozen falls beautiful trail low traffic start at 9 am. First trail sign takes to cliff loop come back other way

Easy trail that is good for all skill levels. It eventually just basically becomes a dirt road but before that it’s a nice trail.

Great short hike with stunning views in every direction at the top. Packed snow most of the way 3/17, spikes a big help. Gorgeous day!

An absolutely beautiful trail. We took it up to the Continental Divide Outlook. The views are amazing. There were a few icy patches but nothing to difficult to get through in normal hiking shoes.

Great hike for myself and my dog!

It was such a great hike. The views are beautiful! The only suggestion I would have is not go to the end of trail if coming down from the top. There is an overlook at just about 3/4 miles before the end that you should just turn around because the rest of the way just feels like you are on a driven dirt road.

I would give this a moderate rating in the winter! Steep incline and icy at spots until you get to the top. Great views! I recommend for a short hike outside of the metro area

Solid hike for spring. Definitely bring micro spikes or yak tracks as the majority of the trail is covered in either ice or a few inches of snow. No need for snow shoes in my opinion.

Parking is pretty limited. We parked next to the entrance (it said violators would be towed), but didn’t have any issues. Others were parked in the area without problems as well.

Happy hiking!

Bring microspikes in winter months.

great trail with a steady incline pretty much the whole way up. I did this with my wife and two teen sons and enjoyed it very much. fantastic views once you break the treeline. it didnt seem to busy either.

Hiked this today 3/15. It was still extremely muddy and icy in some spots. Micro spikes weren’t necessary but there were a few spots around the 3/4 mark part of the trail that were kind of sketchy and slippery. Also my activity tracker said this loop was closer to 5.6 miles instead of the listed 4.8 here. If you go from
Beaver to Chavez it is mostly downhill the first 2 miles, then some ups and downs the next 1-2 with some steep, rocky sections and winding ledges with steep drop offs, the last section is a lot of uphill which is tough after being spent energy-wise on the first part. Overall I enjoyed this trail but feel it’s probably better in summer. I will wait until then to return.

PS I took my two small older (almost 10 yo) dogs on this trail and they loved it. Had no problems. I think they would love this in the summer when they can cool off in the little creeks!

Beautiful views, includes the rock climbers - a little melting ice and mud but otherwise dry

Went up when it was frozen over with some friends. It's tough getting up and back down with all the snow, but so worth it. Some people hike up and sled / snowboard down. You get to walk around on a big frozen lake once you make it all the way. Really awesome.

Great views! Definitely recommend bringing spikes for some areas.

Very nice hike:). We hiked this trail in mid March and experienced very comfortable weather. A lot of elevation change which was gradual and consistent.

We completed this trail today. Snowshoes were not needed for the first two thirds of this trail, but were very helpful for the top third. That’s how my wife did it, I didn’t take my snowshoes and still did fine. A lot more snow than last weeks pics.

Trail was snow packed, footing was good with microspikes. Probably could have gotten away with just boots, but the extra traction was nice on the uphill climb.

Was an enjoyable hike; I’m sure it’s even better when the lake isn’t frozen.

Parking is kind of sketchy, but no problem finding a spot.

Very nice trail with fair elevation changes. Trail was a bit muddy, but that’s to be expected this time of year. I would definitely recommend this trail to others

A great way to spend the afternoon. Took us about 3 hours. Great spot to see some foundation ruins from the hotel and nice views of the continental divide. Rock climbers all around. Super close to Boulder/West Arvada

The path is extremely icey right now! I expected better scenery through the hike- I think this would be a much better hike for spring/summer.

Easy hike with really beautiful views! Took our pups and they had a grand ole time. Some parts we’re a bit icy so recommend micro spikes but not necessary. We left ours at home and did fine without them.

Gorgeous views but do-able for my 6yo! Also we found an unopened red ale in the snow. So. Can’t really beat that.
