Great trail... it has some woods and some beautiful views! Quite a bit of damage from a recent tornado!!

A lot to see for such a short hike

Nice add on if you hike the Perimeter Trail but want to do a little more.

This was my second hike of the year. Even in January the trail was well maintained, and was fun and easy, with not too many people on the trail at once. Moderate is a good rating, as there is enough uphill to get your heart pumping, easy downhill, and enough flat trail on top to get some beautiful views! Nice features along the entire trail, as well. I definitely recommend for anyone looking for a good hike around Nashville!

Awesome hike! Did the hike to the base of the falls. It’s been raining the last few days so it was super muddy and slick but worth it. The way the rocks are makes it hard to get good footing - so I’d rate this more strenuous than moderate. Also hiked back up and did Cane Creek Falls over the suspension bridge. My husband , I and pup enjoyed the day exploring nature ! Check out Cane Creek Overlook if you’re looking for a good spot to stop and eat lunch.

Kid friendly (+6) and scenic with short trails. It is mostly not challenging.

Absolutely lives up to the hype. Great for kids and my dog. Two for one special of stunning falls at the bottom and the top and a suspension bridge for fun thrown in. Very cool hike.

Short and easy hike. Decent view at the top and cool man-made waterfall. Good hike for some who may not be in the best shape.

Definitely missed the cave but like another review said it’s right before the loop starts closer to the river. Wasn’t too thrilled with the trail being so muddy but just make sure you bring proper shoes. Two river crossings and a whole lot of fun rocks to jump on :)

This is the probably the easiest mountain biking trail in the Nashville area but it’s also one of the most scenic. Really beautiful dense forest sections and some great views of Percy Priest. Also I believe if you do the longest loop (follow the Orange markers) it is closer to 6 miles. It’s pretty flat, so you can knock out this pretty trail in under an hour pretty easily which is a plus when you are as busy as I am.

Had such a blast! Beautiful scenery, river views, found the caves. Quiet and breathtaking! Enjoy!

I agree with what others have said about the drive in and the trailhead itself. There’s not really a parking lot area so I’m glad that the trail signs were visible and clear from the road. I hiked this trail with my dog early on Saturday morning in December, and though we had the trail to ourselves, we had a rough go of it due to heavy rains a few days before. The trail had not dried out as much as I’d hoped so it definitely made the footing a bit uneasy. I slipped many times and fell once, and my dog even had a little trouble keeping her footing in spots. There was a lot of running water flowing along the trail from the recent rains, too. We used the waypoints overlay on the trail map in the AllTrails app to locate the cave entrances while on our hike. We easily found the cave in the woods but had to muster up some courage and get creative to reach the two cave entrances below the bluffs due to the slick mud and steep gorges. Once there though, the caves were simply amazing and completely worth the extra effort needed to get to them. The fence is still at the entrance to the larger cave, but it has an opening that’s easy to go through. We didn’t encounter any critters in the caves on this hike. The trails were well marked throughout and easy to follow. I’ll definitely be back when the ground is a bit drier to explore some more. This place is beautiful and so serene.

Absolutely Beautiful and easy to explore. We have gone here for years and now that they've made it an actual park, it's so easy to hike . I highly recommend it .

2 miles from my house...thus a great place to hike!

Beautiful falls. Pretty easy hike, not too crowded.

I love this area! This trail is perfect for those who haven't hiked in a while. Waterfalls, views, swinging bridges. Apparently there was a tornado in early November and the trail suffered a lot of damage. It's clear now but one should use caution. There are broken branches and whole trees leaning and hanging overhead. We heard a loud crack and watched a large limb come crashing down right in front of us. They've also had rain which has left some parts of the trail submerged. Not too deep but plan on getting wet feet. The rain has also increased the flow at the falls, it's pretty spectacular. Right below the falls is a good place to take a break, we stopped for lunch and enjoyed the view. Rattlesnake Point is breathtaking. Talk about a vista! I expect in the spring and summer it comes by it's name honestly. I'm looking forward to exploring other parts of Savage Gulf State Natural Area.

We had a great time. Didn’t know about the caves until after, guess we will look for them next time. But it’s a fun trail to hike!

nice hike to the base of the falls, can get crowded

Really good easy/moderate trail with large rock formations, a beautiful view of the river and lots of small paths to explore. Will definitely be back. My husband, four year old and I did 2.5 miles exploring it today. Parts of the trail were muddy but overall it was in great shape.

Short quick hike. The views were overrated. The highlight is the lower trail on the north side of the bluff, the tunnel trail, it takes you to a manmade tunnel, interesting history.

Great views!!

We went in the middle of October the hike wasn’t to bad but the waterfall is totally worth it we’re from Missouri and we had a blast.

Short, but very pretty view!

this is the fourth time I've been to this trail. usually it's great but today the trail was closed due to dangerous conditions and fallen trees from a recent storm. We hiked anyway but encountered many obstacles that forced us off the main trail. We never made it to the falls due to impassable piles of large fallen timber, brush and branches. Heed the warning signs until they finally get the trail cleaned up and cleared again.

I didn't care for the trail. Too narrow of a trail, either pulling my dog behind me or he is pulling me out front. The gravel and bigger rocks were clunky and somewhat annoying. The trail meanders sometimes close to the lake, but then immediately takes you away from it. Just a couple of nice views, but other than that a fairly uninteresting hike.

Beautiful year round.

beautiful in the autumn colors; peaceful in its isolation, almost other-worldly...

SUCH a pretty terrain. I’d never take a small child to this one because of all of the bluffs but I’d definitely go back

Very nice hike - fairly easy - just the distance. Waterfall is beautiful as is the overlook. Great walk for someone like me trying to get into shape and get some outdoor time. Was fun!

Great trail - some of the best views in TN.
