Nice quiet trail. Great escape from it all, will go back

Great place for a peaceful walk. Nice wooded and paved trails. Nice ppl and a great dog walking spot.

Nice, easy trail and that is very accessible and will look nice in the fall. Great for kids!

Pretty flat and not too many roots at the beginning. The elevation and tougher ground starts around the loop and it was a fun length! Good start to a day

Too muddy felt like quick mud

One of my favorites.

An excellent trail for a leisurely stroll through the forest. Informative nature center on site adds to appreciation of the uniqueness of the site.

nice trail with slight incline for a moderate workout. good for a technical trail run. alot is by a creek making for nice scenery

Great trail for everything from hiking, running, and family walks. 2 mile paved loop, with a nice dirt trail close to the lake.

heavily trafficked and difficult to maneuver around pedestrians. Pro is that there is a lot of dogs. Khan is that everything smells like pee LOL

Wonderful trails with so much to see both man-made and natural. Fun to explore. Always clean and well taken care of. Beautiful area.

Good walk in the woods, some of the trail has water nearby which makes for a nice background noise.

My husband and I really enjoyed this trail and would do again when we come back to visit our friends who live a very short distance form the park. We went on a weekday around 7:30am shortly after the Crabtree entrance to the park opens which is 7am all other entrances open at 8am. Parking was free and easy. Was well shaded which kept the temperature down and the creek that you walk along side where the trail loops was great and not really any bugs attacking you although we did bug spray ourselves well prior to which is pretty good considering it was late July. Nice, even well maintained trail much more so than the CA trails that we're familiar with. Had quite a few roots and some rocks but we weren't bothered by this as we were wearing hiking shoes/boots but this trail is definitely doable in sneakers just a matter of personal preference and comfort level. I wouldn't personally consider this trail moderate it was a nice, relaxing hike but still kept your heart rate up with some changes in incline here and there and of course the humidity which was to be expected. Just FYI, there was not any drinkable water available at the time of our hike on 07/26 to refill our water bottles halfway through the hike as the nearest water fountain was out of service and the sink located outside the restroom nearby is non-potable water which it clearly indicates on the side of the water pipe so plan to bring plenty of water with you. We had not brought our Camelbaks like we normally would have as we were visiting from out of state and were attempting to keep the packing on the lighter side but will do so next time, lesson learned. But overall a great new hiking experience.

I may be biased as I just moved here from the mountains of NC, but this trail was pretty bland in my opinion. I’d consider this more for running rather than hiking. I thought that there was gonna be a nice river on the trail; however, it was also pretty dull/bland and it’s not very appealing.

Got in a quickie ahead of threatening thunderstorms. Views from bluffs along the creek are beautiful. Chain saw art is amazing. Looking forward to continuing past the stone bridge next time for the full loop.

The map on AllTrails is actually drew for hiking, not biking. I dont think this is a loop trail for biking. I had to turn around the same path where I came from to get back to the parking lot. But overall the ride was fun and the trail was pretty. Very well maintained trail.

Reedy creek trail is for bikers, only becomes interesting when on loblolly. And that trail is recommended . Wouldn’t recommend this loop

One of my favorite places to walk. The new NCMA Park is beautifully designed and welcoming. Plenty of paths/trails to walk on even when it’s busy. And you get to look at art for free! Only issue right now is that there are no restrooms outside, so when the museum is closed there are no restrooms in the park. Hopefully that will be fixed soon.

Loved it! Waterfall was beautiful!

Nice 2 mile paved trail around the lake. The trail itself is easy and wide enough for passing foot track and bicyclists. It has restrooms and offers scented doggy bags through the trail. I have found it to be most busy in the morning into the early afternoon with joggers and swift walkers. Best time I've discovered to go with less traffic is around happy hour, apparently priorities change in NC as the day goes on :) Its a great trail if you want a glimpse of wildlife. I've seen deer, otters, loons, cranes, and turtles near the bank. It also has a couple of nature trails off of the paved trail if you're one of those, as I am, who desire to take the path less traveled.

This trail shows up on Google but it probably shouldn't. Even the Raleigh Parks website doesn't go into detail with a description or a trail map other than the words "unpaved". Starts as a decent grass trail near PNC. Once you cross the road, it get's pretty rough and very muddy. Last time I ran, you had to go under an overpass but the water was high enough that you couldn't cross without getting soaked.

Nice short hike, this is half of the Sycamore Trail through the woods and along the creek and is cut in half by the Graylyn multiuse trail. The Sycamore trail is a great sampling of all Umstead has to offer and Graylyn can be used by mountain bikes, hikers and horses, mostly made up of crushed and loose gravel. What gave this a four today was the wonderful wood carving at the top of the Graylyn hill. Nice surprise. About 3 miles.

Everything you could want. Awesome art indoors and out and trails! Loved this place.

Took the dogs and the 8 yr old on a rainy day. Had basically the whole place to ourselves. When the downpours came we were covered by trees so barely even noticed. It was a long 7 miles with the older dog and the kiddo but I along with the pup could have kept going. Quite a few roots to look out for if youre running it but a pretty easy hike, just long. It is really nice to have something do quiet and secluded right in the heart of Raleigh.

I really enjoyed this trail. Very well marked!! I was surprised, however, when the park didn't open until 0700.
