Reedy creek trail is for bikers, only becomes interesting when on loblolly. And that trail is recommended . Wouldn’t recommend this loop

One of my favorite places to walk. The new NCMA Park is beautifully designed and welcoming. Plenty of paths/trails to walk on even when it’s busy. And you get to look at art for free! Only issue right now is that there are no restrooms outside, so when the museum is closed there are no restrooms in the park. Hopefully that will be fixed soon.

Loved it! Waterfall was beautiful!

Nice 2 mile paved trail around the lake. The trail itself is easy and wide enough for passing foot track and bicyclists. It has restrooms and offers scented doggy bags through the trail. I have found it to be most busy in the morning into the early afternoon with joggers and swift walkers. Best time I've discovered to go with less traffic is around happy hour, apparently priorities change in NC as the day goes on :) Its a great trail if you want a glimpse of wildlife. I've seen deer, otters, loons, cranes, and turtles near the bank. It also has a couple of nature trails off of the paved trail if you're one of those, as I am, who desire to take the path less traveled.

This trail shows up on Google but it probably shouldn't. Even the Raleigh Parks website doesn't go into detail with a description or a trail map other than the words "unpaved". Starts as a decent grass trail near PNC. Once you cross the road, it get's pretty rough and very muddy. Last time I ran, you had to go under an overpass but the water was high enough that you couldn't cross without getting soaked.

Nice short hike, this is half of the Sycamore Trail through the woods and along the creek and is cut in half by the Graylyn multiuse trail. The Sycamore trail is a great sampling of all Umstead has to offer and Graylyn can be used by mountain bikes, hikers and horses, mostly made up of crushed and loose gravel. What gave this a four today was the wonderful wood carving at the top of the Graylyn hill. Nice surprise. About 3 miles.

Everything you could want. Awesome art indoors and out and trails! Loved this place.

Took the dogs and the 8 yr old on a rainy day. Had basically the whole place to ourselves. When the downpours came we were covered by trees so barely even noticed. It was a long 7 miles with the older dog and the kiddo but I along with the pup could have kept going. Quite a few roots to look out for if youre running it but a pretty easy hike, just long. It is really nice to have something do quiet and secluded right in the heart of Raleigh.

I really enjoyed this trail. Very well marked!! I was surprised, however, when the park didn't open until 0700.

Walked this trail with my family. What an amazing place. The art is beautiful and the trails are very easy. Would suggest this place for anybody with a love of art or nature.

cool chainsaw art on giant fallen tree on graylyn trail about 1 mile from parking lot

nice river which runs along the trail, went when the leaves were bare and it was beautiful.

Excellent afternoon on the Trails - If you have never been here, and live within an hour of the park you are cheating yourself.
The trails is really an easy trail, and the hills are small and the terrain is forgiving...

For the most part the trail is well under a canopy of trees, and the breeze was consistent.
We lived in the Raleigh area years ago, and on a weekend getaway we decided to hit this park...
And so glad we decided to change plans and hit Umstead!

You will love all 11 miles - (We also took on Sal's Branch/Loop)
There is a trail here for everyone

Nice and mostly shaded trail around the lake. Not too crowded on weekdays.

Nice trail for a peaceful walk.

If you like well maintained trails you wont like this. It goes from grass to gravel to paved to ??? ( walk thru a culvert) to dirt. Then you have to ford a creek. But I'm an adventurous sort of person and enjoyed that. If you are into microfishing this is awesome!

It’s just too cool to wander this place.

I like to combine this trail with the Company Mill trail for a nice 12 mile hike. I start at trail head. At the loop portion, I go right. At the Graylyn trail, I cross the bridge and pick up Company Mill. upon my return, I pick up the Sycamore trail where I left off, and complete it.

the first half was basically a road. it was very quiet for being so close to Raleigh. my kids (13, 10, 5, & 3) rocked it! the last mile was mostly uphill.

Great trail! no summit views, but there is enough terrain that keeps it interesting! Pathway is mainly dirt, so a pups paws would be fine.

Great trail. Just enough rocks and roots to keep it interesting, especially in the late fall as the leaves make it tricky in spots. Well marked, no issues following the trails.

Worst marked trail ever, example nice foot bridge or hog path. Foot bridge takes you to housing area with no way to get back on the trail, hog path is the trail. If you are not familiar with the area go someplace else for your walk.

Good walking trail mostly paved, lots of interesting things to see.

This a place that has expanded significantly in the last decade. While it is an easy paved walk predominantly, it is the most interesting & charming city trail in Raleigh.

This is a very well maintained and pretty walk through the woods.

Super easy. Paved as well as natural trails with gorgeous views. Typically pretty busy, though, regardless of the time of day.

Be prepared for a little of everything on this trail. It has its inclines & declines. It has rocky, rooty (if that is a word) & smooth trails. It is cut through a large forest some you have loads of shade. Several places to to take a short break if you need one. There is water about 1/2 way in the loop.
