I actually really enjoyed this trail. There's a bit of low grade scrambling and it's a nice constant ascent so you can get a bit of a workout. The pow pow pow of gunfire is a constant and it's crowded but you shouldn't expect a tranquil wilderness experience so close to Suburban Hell.

I love going up to the wind cave to eat my breakfast. I wouldn't say this hike is easy, I've never been on a "hard" trail so I would say the rating of moderate fits. I drank almost 48 oz going up my second time going up. I was really out of shape the first time I did it and I still made it up after several breaks. I have degenerative disc disease, sacroiliitis, and osteitis pubis and I still made it up and back just fine two times. I got the $25 pass book it saves you $10 if you want to come back regularly, rather than pay $7 each time you would be paying $25 for 5 passes. I only wish the trail was a little longer so I could burn more calories. The bees at the top are honey bees so they are good for the planet, leave them alone and take your trash with you!

Easy hike. Very rewarding bee hive and vegetation change at the top, attributable to water seeping out of the rocks. As with any other Sonoran Desert hike, get out there early for cooler air!

We went early morning (started hiking around 6:45a) as it’s summer and the trail was shade almost the entire hike up and down. It’s a decent hike, took us a little over an hour total. Don’t let the bees surprise you at the cave. They flew all over but didn’t bother us.

Meh. This hike didn’t do much for me. Not only was it SO busy when I went in the beginning of May, but the views were mediocre compared to other hikes you could find in the Phoenix-Mesa region. I find myself forgetting I hiked this one. Nice workout, though. But I’m definitely going to return in the winter months and on a weekday. I also hate that there’s a fee at Usery. There are tons of better hikes to do for free that I’ve found!

Great hike. Started at 6am and was in the shade all the way up and nearly all the way back. I would not want to hike this trail in the Summer sun. Previous reviews mentioned bees at the cave...heard and saw a few, but not really a big deal. Definitely start early to beat the crowds.

Good trail that will get the blood flowing. Nice views on the way up and at the top. We took our four kids and our dog. Ages 14, 11, 9, and 4. Had to carry the 4 year old every now and then. I recommend bringing some Band-Aids for the falls that will likely happen.
