Hiking

The trails are very clearly marked with a good amount of switchbacks to make it challenging.

Little wet and leaves were a little slick, but nice short trek...great for kids who want something with a little challenge

Great little hike. Out and back to the quarry (2.0 mi RT) is perfect for the elementary school set.

Nature trips

Loved this easy hike. About 4.5 mi if you take all of the turnoffs. Clearly marked. Enjoyed the rose quartz, mica and feldspar quarry.

HikingGreat!Rocky

I did this last Saturday, after a week of rain. The abundance of wet leaves made this pretty technical, but all-in-all this was a great hike and pretty challenging on the way back. The only issue I had, was that it is more of an out and back with a loop at the end, there was not a complete loop that I could find.

4 star trail with great care and attention to trails. At one intersection a mile or so in there were 14 people waiting to intersect trails. Credit to all trails for getting out the crowds

Really beautiful hike. I am coming off injury so I was only able to do a mile in total but I will definitely be coming back! ONLY "downsides" is with all the leaves on the ground it is hard to see the tree roots and rocks, and the path is very narrow in some spots. But one of my fave hikes so far!

Beautiful trail with lots of different terrain. Plenty of roots and rocks to cross, so watch your footing. There are some areas that are quite vigorous with steep, rocky uphill - on the red route. Well worth it, as the views are beautiful.

Walking

Wonderful in the autumn, still a lot of foot traffic. The river is nearly completely dry.

Well marked trails. Interesting side trips off the main trail; the Falls, the Quarry, and the Mianus River Gorge. The Quarry is particularly cool. The terrain was mixture of flat and rocky/roots- perfect mix of up and down. Dogs are NOT allowed and it’s well marked at beginning of preserve.

It was beautiful! Definitely too long to do with a 3 year old. The trail was so beautiful and there were signs. Beautiful little creeks also!

First time on this trail. Beautiful trail, but wouldn't recommend it unless you like hiking for hiking's sake. which I do. highly variable up and down trail, which kept things interesting. came tantalizingly close to nice views of Lake Zoar, but never rewarded one with a true view. that is the reason I gave it only 4 stars. make sure you allocate almost two hrs for the hike. it took me 1:43. at normal pace would have been 1:20. the trail is often hard to follow and footing can often be very tricky, especially this time of year when leaves obscure the path. I would not want to be on this trail at dusk. it was hard to follow trail markings even in late afternoon fall sunshine. lots of trail markings, but don't follow normal conventions and often aren't where you would expect them or need them. hiking boots and poles highly recommended.

Stay to the left when you enter and you’ll be on the trail. Fairly rocky, nice loop!

Well marked trail - if you are looking for a challenging hike in the woods with inclines and rocks, this is it for- for parking when you get to the fiddlehead cul de sac, look for the trail marker in the woods - there are two parking spaces for hikers but it seems that you could park on the street without a problem
