Great trail, not great weather
Awesome snowshoe hike, definitely a good workout! The AllTrails tracker takes you along a snowmobile trail which is super flat and open, but we started along the designated ski/snowshoe trail that was BEAUTIFUL.
Winter snow hike. Groomed trail, no snow shoes needed. From 10 mile snow park, 3 mile 900 feet hike up. Nice lunch at the lodge then back down. Falls were beautiful and worth the trip.
Lots of snowmobiles
Lovely trail. Nice view of falls and lake. Today it is well packed snow with no ice or slush. 2.5 hrs rd trip up to lake and back was not a problem for this 60 yr old sedentary person. Would recc that you start earlier than 1:30 as it was nippy as the sun dropped. Road up was 99% ice free.
Alltrails show road trail. This track is hiking skiing and snowshoe trail.
The road is closed at 10 mile snow park. Hike from there almost 3 miles until any views, all on snow mobile trails.
Crazy to think that Paulina Creek falls is on Volcano in Newberry National Volcanic Monument near La Pine! It’s a two side-by-side 80 foot waterfall. The falls drop into a large pile of basalt rocks, then the creek flows behind the rocks until it reaches a pool. Hiking was easy and all the trails are marked nicely. I definitely could have stayed to watch this gorgeous flow go on for hours!
Nicely marked trail and the falls were beautiful with ice formation. The snow is very thin for the first half mile with a few obstacles.
There are the extra 3 miles, each way, from Ten-Mile Sno-Park and you gain an extra 1k feet you weren't expecting. Totally worth it. if you get a chance, dip into the hot springs. There are a couple warmer pools to the right....do it.
The parking lot has a ton of ski mobiles. Once on the path it’s nice.
The path to the creek isn’t anything special but once you get to the end! DAMN! Took my dog with me and she was in love with the snow!
Fantastic hike.
the pictures on all trails/insta do not do justice to this epic snowshoe route. amazing 360 pano views of 4 major peaks and many minor ones , mount bachelor is literally in your face the whole way down
Intense little climb and a great work out. Highly recommend...
Easy stroll. Met no one on the trail until we got to the falls. While it is true that u can hike the service road, a much more enjoyable hike is by following the cross country ski trail. Very well marked with blue signs and yellow diamonds/arrows. Trail leaves parking lot just outside of the gate to the snow shelter.
It was a good little hike!
Nice if you wanna be alone for a bit, but it’s not very scenic, just a dirt road to a power line road then ends up at a parking lot next to the falls
A dusty service road following a line of electrical poles and densely packed jack pines was not what we were looking for. we have been to the falls via the short trail several times, so we turned back. Opted to continue on a different trail on the way to the car. It was much more of what we were looking for—hardly a jack pine to be seen. Birds singing in the tall pines—beautiful & peaceful. A couple xc ski trails that were not marked in this app along the way.
The trail has lots of tree falls across it, but they are all easily stepped over. The falls are beautiful and worth the hike, even though you can drive to them, that wasn’t really our objective. The trail is well marked with blue and yellow diamonds. Don’t make the mistake of taking the road instead of the trail, the trail is so much nicer and lots of shade. The trail starts to the left of the information board.
The payoff was beautiful, but the trail on the way there was garbage (particularly because you could just drive up directly to the waterfall). The trail was just through the woods and there wasn’t much too look at. You were essentially walking along a dirt road for the majority of the hike. Would recommend saving your time hiking a better trail and just driving directly to the parking area near the waterfall. The bottom viewpoint and top view point closest to the parking lot were nice. I wouldn’t recommend wasting your time “hiking” the extra 10 mins to the other top view point on the opposite side of the river.
So fun. Easy skin and fun skiing. First ever bc ski for me!
Easy to slightly moderate. Last mile there was still a good amount of snow but most of the way there was snow free on the edge of the trail. View point has a good amount of snow still. There was enough snow we decided to not hike the last .3 miles to the lake.
