Beautiful trail. It was very windy near the top and along the ridge. Views were awesome.

One of my favorite hikes in CB area! Very steep, and strenuous, but the views are amazing! Very windy the higher you get, being a wind breaker.

HikingGreat!

Hiked this today and went clockwise - that seemed to be the better way to go. The last 30-45 minutes are a downward descent to the parking area which was a great way to finish the hike! The views were beautiful as well as the aspens!

Drove over from BV. AWD will make the drive up to the TH a lot easier. Pretty hike and a challenge at times. The wind was pretty strong at the top. Not over crowded but did see other hikers during the hike.

Amazing hike with incredible views. A must do hike! Moderate to hard (if you not use to altitude) but worth every step. Took us about 3.5 hours round trip. When the trail first forks it’s better to go right if you would like to go up a more gradual incline. left if you would like to do the ascent quickly and descent more gradually. There is a false summit who view is incredible. The true summit is just past the turn to go into a loop. The summit as amazing 360 view of the area and its worth going the extra distance and spending some at! Also there very little tree cover so wear protective clothing or bring sunscreen. There are some shady spots but not many.

HikingGreat!

One of the most stunning trails we’ve hiked in CB. We concur with the recommendations of taking the counterclockwise approach to this hike. The first view of the valley when reaching the top is amazing, but as you walk along the ridge line the views keep getting better. Do NOT stop once the trails merge. Keep going another 1/10 mile to see a 360 degree panoramic view of endless wilderness, green lake, and blue lake. If you have it in you at that point, you can take the trail down to blue lake, another 1.3 mile, but it’s steep! We didn’t, the view was enough. Would recommend this as the “must do hike” in Crested Butte!

Moderately hard steep trail. Well worth the effort. Top of the world views. Did straight in and out on the main trail and did not take the side loop.

We really enjoyed this trail! We hiked it clockwise as recommended and this seems to be the best approach. The aspen forests, open vistas, beaver-created lakes were beautiful. There are some long and challenging ascents and descents on this trail..not a great deal of flat hiking. We saw horses on the trail so you might need to avoid horse dung in places! We saw just a few other hikers. A beautiful day and great hike!

A bit difficult climb but spectacular views all the way especially at the top. The drive to the trailhead was very rough road from town but well worth it. Went early morning. Very few hikers then.

Beautiful trail. This trail will be all the more incredible when the Aspen turn gold. Some stunning views. Not too difficult. Good for kids.

Breathtaking views! There was quite a bit of snow from the storm earlier in the week towards the top, so I recommend wearing good snow boots. Also, wear layers! It’s def cooler and windier at the top than at the bottom.

This was a beautiful hike! Loved it and would do it again. Although it was kind of smoky and the views were limited, the view from the ridge was amazing.

If you’re in the Crested Butte area and looking for a great experience, this is the hike for you. You will need a decent 4x4 vehicle with good clearance or ATV to reach the trail head. You take Pearl Pass about 9 miles and it took about 1.5 hours in a lifted Jeep Wrangler. Not highly trafficked and very little room for passing other oncoming vehicles so use situational awareness. You will cross a few rivers and tons of large rocks. The hike itself is very exposed with minimal tree covering so wear sunscreen and a hat. The lakes are gorgeous and very cold but good for a dip on a hot day. It’s a steady incline most the way there, but the hike back down is easy. We loved this hike and would do again.

You will definitely need an ATV or 4x4 to get to the trail head. It will take you about 1.5 hours to drive the pass of the trail head. Not highly trafficked, so be aware of the trail and download the map. It was totally worth the drive in and the hour drive back down. If you want something worth the work and secluded it’s one for the books!
