Short (2 miles round trip), well maintained trail. I would call this family friendly (472 feet of elevation gain). Plenty of opportunities to stop and rest (and take pictures) on the way up. The views of the lake and Wizard Island were great.

This is a quick, short trail with high return with the trail ending w 360 panoramic views of crater lake!

This trail was recommended to us by the park ranger. Unlike a lot of the trails, it goes down to the lake where you can take a dip. We didn’t as it was too cold but it looks refreshing for warmer days. It was a nice short hike but somewhat of a challenge going back up. Doable for all!

Great, short hike. It’s a workout, but you are rewarded with terrific views. The lake is incredibly beautiful!

Beautiful views. Ascent is rapid but the trail is short.

Hiked this trail in June 2017. Beautiful views. Bees were annoying.

Beautiful views throughout with presence of great amount of shade.

Beautiful views throughout with presence of great amount of shade.

Lots of switches on a wide, well-maintained path. This place becomes pretty popular on the hotter days, but the parking area is sizable.

Lounge on the rocks, freeze yourself in the water.

Short hike on a well graded trail - well worth it - especially at sunset! 19 Sep 2018

Everything about Crater Lake gets five stars in my book. Pretty strenuous coming back up, but it’s only a mile. Beautiful day, no smoke.

Five stars because it was the only place Brook could swim in Crater Lake......and she and the people waiting for the ferry enjoyed it. Nice steep hill with gorgeous views of the lake.. My phone app told me at one point it was a 25% grade. It's a bummer they haven't made a better access point for the ferry. It prevents many people from enjoying all of the park.

Nice hoodoos.... Reminds me a little bit of Bryce Canyon. Very short level little trail.

Nice little trail to the falls with no one around. I did it fairly early in the morning. When I got to the falls I saw a Rock Chuck or also known as a Marmot by the falls. That was interesting since I've only seen a few and it was the first my dog has seen.

Last hike of the day. Took some very good pics that would have been great if I'd been there 20 minutes earlier. Very easy walk...

Hard to believe, but it's even more breathtaking then you ever imagine it to be.

For some reason I didn't get a track on this one. Nice little trail with no wildflowers this time of the year. I did it late in the day with not a single person on the trail.

Not much to this one but had it on my trail list for the day. Likely the worst of the many trails I did over two days.

Hard to locate but a pleasure to hike. Interesting little creek trail on the bottom that Brook, my lab, enjoyed thoroughly. Many of the hikes I did over 2 days in this area reminded me of Zion.

You just have to see it. Words and pictures don’t really do it justice.

Nice easy walk to view some interesting rock formations. It's only necessary to walk a short distance to view the best formations. We walked to the park boundary where the old sign used to be, but there really aren't any better views of the pinnacles to be had by walking this far.

Not crowded. No mosquitoes today, but also no wildflowers. A bit too late in the season, I guess. Easy walk along a well established trail. Slight incline the last 1/4 mile, but nothing tough.

Not crowded at all when we were there. Very easy "hike" to get to the rim and view the lake and Phantom Ship. As stated before, pretty dusty on the trail. Accessible to all ages.

I would rate as moderate, just because of the elevation change near the top. Great views all around today. The smoke from nearby fires wasn't too bad today. Beautiful area.

Easy peasy if you're an active hiker. I hiked with wife and kids and there were no complaints of strain on this loop. There is a bit of an uphill but it'll make the outstanding view of the lake and Phantom Ship all the worthwhile for casual strollers - and this will be more like a stroll then a hike. The trail was dusty so were appropriate shoes (opened toed shoe wearers be aware). Also, when you approach the first viewpoint on a busy day there will be jocking for photo position. Note that there are multiple viewpoints so just move along to the next one if first is crowded.

***The smoke today (8.6.18) was terrible!! You could not see the lake from the road and ash was covering our car. Please check the webcam before you drive out here. My son broke out in hives from the smoke while hiking. None the less it was a steep hike with a beautiful swim! Lots of elevation.

great view. you can see the whole Cascades and Siskyous (if it wasn't for the smoke from the California fires) The National Park Service rates it as moderate to strenuous. possibly because of the elevation (8,013 ft) Even so, I had less problems with the thin air than I did 40+ years ago at the same elevation on Mt. Fuji. (Who says youth can handle it better than oldsters?)

Phantom Ship view that’s worth the easy switch back trail to the ridge. I’d rate this as easy not moderate. The cliffs off to the east as you near the top are stunning, especially in the afternoon light.

A must do trail to feel the purest form of water in America's deepest lake.
