Did this easy and relatively flat hike last September. Plenty of shade and space to spread out on the majority of it so you don’t run into other hikers. Beautiful site to see at the end of the trail. Only down side is that it was slightly crowded at the base of the waterfall.
Conquered this hike last summer. Quite a steep hike for a beginner but there were some good spots to stop and catch your breath. A gorgeous view at the top that lets you see the entirety of Crater Lake. A little crowded at the top but definitely worth it.
Beautiful veiws, wish I could have finished it. I agree with the reviews below. I almost always finish a hike, but this one got too steep. I and the couple behind me all turned around with our snow shoes because of how steep it was. We also were having a hard time finding the actual trail. I’m sure a more experienced snowshoer may have more luck, as this was my first time ever wearing them. I still had a wonderful time though.
Beautiful view of crater lake(it was visible today!!) On 4/9 but there was too much snow to do the trail. we were told you could try to snow shoe around but make sure to bring your own, as there is no place to rent them at.
The trail is closed due to deep snow, Rangers said it will be closed until June. Still able to drive to some spots and get out to beautiful views though.
The trail was closed due to high snow levels. The road was pave, we are able to go about 2/3 of the way, but we still got a great view of the island and the like.
Went up on 4/2/2021. Made it up about half way before we decided it was a little too sketchy. You need snowshoes for sure. Gets really steep before the ridge line and we weren’t quite sure where the trail was so maybe we were off, but it was still beautiful and we had lunch on a big rock with spectacular views of the lake with no one around us
Pristine views
Beautiful! Forgot to start the recording at the beginning of the trail though.
Sublime
Did it in september 2019. Se went early for the sunrise and it was one of the greates expiriences in my life. Definetly worth it.
Did it in september 2019, super nice trail, sand and gravel. Pretty easy way to get near the lake and amazing cliff jumping. You have to count with climbing up after.
Easy short walk from the parking spot, beautiful view but crowded. You should definetly stop there if you are crater lake it takes like 20 minutes.
Was here on a blue bird day. Beautiful views!
Did an overnight trip 1/16-1/17. Parked at Park Headquarters on Saturday morning. If backpacking, you self fill out an overnight permit, grab an overnight parking pass, and a WAG bag at HQ. Then snowshoe up the Raven Trail to get to Rim Village. Trailhead was very easy to find right at the 3-way stop, but a bit tricky to follow for the first quarter mile or so. With the steep hill on the right and the road on our left, we went in the correct direction and eventually picked up some tracks. The route was well marked for the most part, although there were a few sections where we didn't see any blue diamonds on trees. Following tracks we were able to make it up to Rim Village. (Note if you are only day tripping, you can just drive to Rim Village, assuming the road is open. Only overnighters must park down the hill at HQ). The trail was extremely busy between Rim Village and Discovery Point. The snow was very compact, so snowshoes and skis weren't strictly necessary, although it helped even out the load with our heavy packs. Lots of people walking around in snow boots to get some nice shots of the lake. We found a nice campsite just past Discovery Point and enjoyed a clear view of the lake from our hammocks.
Super snowy, so the Rim Drive road was closed - so we snowshoed along the road itself (since the trail isn't visible/accessible beneath the snow). Lots of snowshoers and x-country skiers. Rolling hills, mostly forested, with viewpoints of the lake along the way. Great day out!
Dec 27 - Beautiful and lots of snow. Absolutely gorgeous views of the lake with snowy mountains as backdrop. Was able to hike up about half of Garfield Peak but it was pretty snowy/icy. Would only recommend with proper gear (snow shoes, gaitors, snow pants, etc.)
Lovely! Similar to Lake Tahoe Rim Trail, but at lower elevation and a bit less foot traffic. Bring bird seed and feed the birds from your hand!
