Bead Lakes is a 4 km loop trail along Highway 10 in Riding Mountain and is a gorgeous place for a hike.

I hiked the trail in the fall which made for a beautiful setting with the changing colours of the leaves. The scenery was really pretty as the trail followed through the forest and passed by a few lakes. There were great views! The trail was moderately challenging with some inclines but it was more than manageable.

I spotted lots of fresh bear scat along the trail but didn't see any bears, although be aware that they are definitely in this area.

Fantastic hike and one of my new favourites in the park!

This past summer, I hiked to Bald Hill along the J.E.T. Trail in the North Escarpment and it was an absolutely gorgeous and scenic hike with the good amount of challenge involved. The trailhead is located a 45 minute drive along Highway 19 from the Wasagaming townsite. It is rated difficult and was definitely a workout for the legs.

The trail was beautiful and passed through forest and along the edge of the valley with gorgeous views of the escarpment along the way. There were lots of ups and downs, with some steeper inclines, but it was not quite as strenuous and difficult as I was expecting.

You will eventually arrive at a junction in the trail, with a sign. Someone has scratched Bald Hill on the sign with an arrow pointing straight ahead. Follow straight ahead for about 7 minutes and you will find yourself climbing onto the narrow and rocky ridge at the Bald Hill Lookout. Although it is not an official trail, don't let that deter you. The trail is easy to find and follow. The hill is literally bald - it is just rocks and nothing else, with very steep edges. The rocks are flat and slippery and the ridge is narrow, so be careful how close you get to the edge. The views of the surrounding hills, valleys and forests were absolutely stunning from the top of Bald Hill!

You hike back to the trailhead along the same path. It took me around 4 hours to complete the round trip hike and in total, it is around 11 km.

I would recommend this hike for those looking for scenic views and a good challenge. Wear proper hiking boots/shoes and long pants, as there is some poison ivy along some parts of the trail.

Whenever I visit Riding Mountain, I always hike the first section of the Kinosao Trail leading to Kinosao Lake and then come back to the parking lot along the Brule Trail.

The trail leads through the peaceful forest to Kinosao Lake. The trail is fairly easy and flat with only some minor up and downs. Once you reach the lake, you will see a lovely boardwalk section of the trail, which makes for some beautiful photos.

Kinosao Lake is a gem. In the early morning, the water is so calm and the atmosphere is so serene. You can sometimes hear loons. There is always a canoe laying under a tree at the edge of the water by the dock with paddles and life jackets underneath it, for anyone to take out onto the water. I always love photographing the lake from the dock and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere among nature. There are also great views of the lake (and photo opportunities) right after crossing the boardwalk heading back on the trail, with a bench positioned along the water.

Would highly recommend hiking this trail, especially in the early morning when you will experience the tranquility at the lake. Gorgeous place!

Quick easy relaxing walk.

A nice quick loop. Take the shorter/detour until freeze up. The back part of the bog has ankle deep water. You will need waterproof shoes and trekking poles to go off the trail and around the water.

It was an easy hike...not many spots to stop and enjoy a view.

Short and scenic. The falls weren’t really falls, more a trickling stream, but the hike itself is nice.

My favorite hike in Birds Hill. It is a big, so unless it's been very dry for sometime, expect to get wet feet. It is beautiful in the winter.

My go-to hike when in Birds Hill.

I went with my grade twelve classmates and it was so beautiful and so scenic! Loved it so much! Would definitely recommend good footwear lots of steep hills and slopes. So worth it though!

really enjoyed this trail, the leaves in autumn are beautiful! dont go after a rainfall though, very flooded. enjoyable trail, feels more like hike, a little more rugged than the other trails.

more like a walk than a hike, but a nice scenic walk

Signage a bit difficult to find.....ended up going backwards

Easy trail, great for getting a little sweat on! There is a shirt cut to make the trail half the size at the look out tower. Take the sign for blue stem trail once there, they’ll lead you back to the chickadee parking lot. (If you’re with kids or something)

short trail, very easy. on the map there is a split, it says falls to the left and a river to the right. we searched everywhere for the trail to the falls but could not find it, so we took the right trail, it just ends. still fun, a little disappointing we couldnt find the falls.

We biked the trail and went through to the owl junction to the cabin and back (extra 10km). lots of bumps and roots makes it seem alot harder than it is but great exercise!

Great trail conditions. We will give that another hike in the future. Bench on the lake was a nice touch❗

It is a great trail, but a little bit confusing trying to get to the falls from the marked area as the path seems to disappear. Bugs were out even though it was very hot, and some parts of the trail could be more difficult if you are not use to hiking with giant bolders and steep inclines. One of the best things was wild blueberries, they were delicious.

Trail in great condition. Relaxing loop to walk or bike.

Trail in great condition. Early morning hike was peaceful. Terrain is not very challenging.

Lime Kiln 7.8km well shaded without too much diversity. A quiet route (regularly used for horses). Will prob skip hiking this one again for lack of interesting scenery. Trail running/biking could be more fun! Enjoy!

A very pretty trail! Took me about 45min with a couple stops with my dog. Well shaded and beautiful trees. Nothing challenging here, and there is a look out tower (did not see much). Enjoy!

nice hike with moderate elevations along the river.

Hazelnut 9km. Yes, you must walk north on the gravel pathway to the other side of the field to start this hike (and Tamarack). Wide paths, well marked, well shaded. Unfortunately I followed signs to the look out (will not do that next time) and ended up turning back early. Enjoyed how quiet it was at this end of Birds Hill Park.

Mix of shade and sun, lots of poison ivy tight into trail but a fun one. I enjoyed this one because of the amount of diversity of landscapes/trees. It says 1h30 but I did it in about 40min with my dog. I would hike/trail run this one again.

Lots of poison ivy on the trail and very overgrown grass onto the trail.
