A few downed trees during the last mile leading up to the peak but it was easy to step over. Trail is mostly a gravel road so not very technically difficult.

HikingGreat!

For a beginner hiker like me, this is a perfect mix of relaxing and challenging (inclines). I did this one backwards for no reason. There is room for about 10 vehicles in the small parking lot, there are no portapotty or bathroom facilities (FYI) and no benches along the way. There are lots of downed trees, but people have made walkarounds or paths to go through them. I went on a Sunday, mid-day, and passed about 7 people with a few dogs and 1 pair of horseback riders. There are a few streams but no waterfalls or big rivers. Not muddy at all, and I only saw 1 piece of garbage. Highly recommend!

Great road trail. Went on a Saturday and there was one car when I arrived, and five when I left, but I didn’t see a single person on trail. Nice elevation changes. Would love to bike after trees are cleared from recent windstorm.

Some down trees can easily get around. All forest roads, go slightly down past forest peak for a better view point.

Fabulous trail, open, less travelled even if there were cars in the parking lot. You can really go thru so many trails!

HikingGreat!Private property

My Fitbit was at 0 steps when I began this trail, and when I got back it said I went 6.6 miles, so the 3.2 listed here is only 1-way. Also, this trail is located at "Camp Tapawingo" - you park in their lot, even though there are signs everywhere that say "private property," it's the right spot. I arrived early and initially I was the only vehicle, but as I was getting ready, another car pulled up with mountain biker people, who were very friendly. I was the only hiker, and as long as you walk on the 1-lane dirt road up the mountain, you will be fine. As the day wore on, there were around 30 bikers that day, including a few kids. The bikers ride (or walk) their bikes up the road and then take one of the many bike trails that criss-cross down across the road down the mountain. There is a trickle of a river along some of the trail. It starts off very easy but after a mile the elevation and gentle switchbacks kick in. At the beginning of the trail, about a half mile in, there is 1 port-a-potty which looks a bit dicey, but it's actually pretty clean. It's the only facility you'll run across in the area. As you go along the trail, there are several benches along the way. When you get the the end of the road at the top, there is a skinny trail that looks like one of the many "biking only" trails, but the sign says it's OK to go up with your bike, and you'd want to walk up that last trail to get to the very top (it's the only time you'd want to walk on a bike-only trail). The view is gorgeous, but it's a 180 degree view not a 360 view. All in all it's a great workout.

Mountain biking

This is a serious mountain bike trail system with a great view at the top. If you plan on hiking, stick to the gravel. There will be bikes coming down these trails at over 20mph, so watch yourself. It’s worth noting that these trails are high stakes and a cursory review online will find reports of serious injury and in a few cases, death. So hiking up the trails is really not a good idea.

Good training for mtb or gravel rides. Variable grade makes it easy to lap. Friendly folks and pups. Good views too. Also the gravel is fairly smooth the whole way up.

Great little road/trail! On a Saturday this portion was not crowded at all. The parking lot was small and because there are other trails in the area, finding a parking spot at 1030am was an issue. My dog loved this spot! Lots of running water for her to drink and splash in. The Uproute trail was not muddy. The extendo portion was a bit muddy though. Would come back again! But would get there earlier.

The trail was beautiful. but some of the inclines could be tough for inexperienced hikers. so I wouldn't say it's child friendly. but the views once you get to the top or so amazing and memorable

Nature tripsGreat!Muddy

Trail is nice, would rank as mildly moderate at just under 5 miles with fun inclines and declines along the way. We did it on a chilly /sunny day so I would recommend waiting for a nicer day. The trail was well kept and fairy secluded- we only saw maybe two handfuls of people and mostly at the trailheads or near where several paths converge. We took the loop in the opposite direction to avoid traffic. It was fairly steep but with great views of the valley and hills from the top. We brought our 8# dog and she couldn’t get enough.
