Love it. The Tower is the best part.

the second part of the trail was cut off but we were still able to go to the first and walk up it and then back down. the marking change between red and blue but it's not really hard to follow it to the top. dogs would like this but I'd say kids might have a rough time, some of the inclines are harsh.

First half is great, lots of hills that allow good footing. Peek offers great view. Went after heavy rain. Second half can be a challenge do to wet rock surface ( Grabbed tree once after slipping, about ten miles on Solomon Mid GTX 3s) You end up following a fire road back to starting point. My advice is hit peak and turn back around.

Awesome little place. So off the beaten path. Discovered this place is 2003. Best seasons to go are spring, summer and part of fall. First time i went, there was some snow on the ground. Wish some of the trails, were better marked. There is the old foundation of a building there, just the rocks. Huge rocks, waterfalls and pools.

The falls are really nice and the hike is fairly easy. There is unfortunately a lot of trash in the area. Especially beer/alcohol bottles/cans. It’s too bad people can’t keep it clean.

so pretty down by the river... but people, please clean up after yourself.. it's sad...

horse riding, trailing running, fishing are some of the alternative offerings of this route. Scenic, east route along the river side - easy and took an hour tops which is likely why I won’t redo same trail

such a beautiful spot I liked it a lot minus the dirty diapers in the trash scattered about from assholes who don't know how to pick up from themselves it could be a very lovely place I would not bring small children no strollers no dogs that's my opinion but a very awesome Place minus the trash

Good hike, more buggy than I expected. Trail is pretty well defined but in some parts it is definitely not as clear, most likely due to the storm. I went off trail two times and went back to find the trail. The fire tower has an okay view, you can’t see much with all the trees in the way. Also, some parts have trees in the way that you have to go underneath/above and it’s a fun adventure. Wish the trail was better marked at some parts, but overall I really enjoyed this short and quick hike.

Great hike with good views

Really liked this spot. Lots of parking, picnic tables, and pretty views even if you just hang around the entrance. Pretty waterfalls and rock formations, and covered bridge. I did the big loop, beginning on the covered bridge part with my 12 year old and our dog. It’s a good, moderate hike that’s a little more challenging (and fun!) due to all the downed trees and tornado damage. There are a few spots where the markings aren’t super clear - we got slightly off track towards the southern part. All in all, a great spot!

Easy hike but watch for copper heads in the summer. Also good for running if you want a challenge

great trail, amazing view, not long at all! definitely not for those who aren’t fans of hills because it is a small climb but worth it :) one of my new favorite trails in the area

Map provided by the ranger station is terrible, very difficult to differentiate roads from trails, no labeling of trails or even where Mt Misery is on the map. Despite that, this was a pleasant hike with nice views. When we came down from the peak we continued on the blue blazed trail into the woods rather than walking back on the road. Although not clearly marked as such, this is the Pachaug/Nehantic trail which splits at a point where an old railroad bed is visible. We turned right onto the Nehantic which eventually meets the road which takes you back to the parking area. Adds about a mile to the walk.

Great easy hike for you and the family with beautiful waterfalls and rocks. I’m not sure why you have to pay 20 bucks for parking on the weekends when it’s a state and public park? And those porto John’s bathrooms are gross, you’d think with the money they collect from people and government they would have built a new restroom for the park. Other than that, it’s nice.

Hiked it with my young nieces. Very pretty woodland with many cool features such as cool cliffs and rock minerals. Trails not marked so lost our way several times. The falls were were interesting but underwhelming.

Good short hike. The trail up is well marked. Decent incline but peters out before it gets too hard. Great overlook! I took Fire Tower Rd down to complete the loop.

Great place for picnic, or just to enjoy the beauty of nature

Great clockwise run in the morning of a warm Saturday. A little buggy valley along river was nice and cool. Nice view from the top. Follow the yellow markers. Very well marked. First two miles are on an u traveled dirt road along the river.

we did this as an alternative to Kettletown state park trails being closed. We were looking for an "easy" hike in the area to take my parents that were visiting for the week.
The Hike end up a tad less "easy" because of the obstacles due to the tornados that recently hit CT (5/15/18), the north part of the trail is still no clean, so many trees are blocking the trail and you have to find your way around.
But it was fun for us and them and they end up with some "adventurous" pictures :D.

Very nice park, kept nice and clean. If you do plan on going on the trail, I suggest good nonslip shoes. I saw way too many people wearing flip flops and tripping and falling when it could’ve been avoided. Waterfalls are great, trails are nice and shady. There are areas on the grass in front to have cook out with family but I suggest bringing chairs to sit. Fee for out of state visitors so keep that in mind. There is also a person that comes and sells ice cream.

Really pretty waterfall! Hike was short and easy. Seemed to be a lot of teenagers “hanging out” in the parking lot. Lock your car.

My husband and I love this area for hiking. It is utterly beautiful here. You can really get a great workout while seeing nature at its best. On the last stretch back to your vehicle is a bit steep which gives you that final burn, but if inexperienced make sure you leave a bit of steam for it.

Super easy hike. Wasn’t completely impressed with the fall...there wasn’t a lot of water

Was ok, lots of uphill to start, first overlook is shrouded by trees. 2nd is very nice. Might as well just skip the loop and walk back down the trail, half the “hike” is on maintained gravel roads.

Short and easy. A few slippery spots but hey your next to water lol. Perfect hot day getaway with few swimming holes.
