Completed Trails Map

Back to one of our favorite spots close to Denver. Patchy ice but was able to make it to Windy Peak without extra traction. Great snow capped views today. The stream along Mountain Lion is still frozen over making for some interesting sound effects. As usual it was pretty quiet. This is a great hike if you don't want to drive far form Denver but still want to avoid the crowds.

No trax needed, couple of icy spots no mud frozen falls beautiful trail low traffic start at 9 am. First trail sign takes to cliff loop come back other way

Hiked entire Mountain Lion trail plus went up to Windy Peak (amazing views). Trails mostly clear. Can easily do without any additional traction, but there's a few spots (no more than 50-60 yard stretches) that it may be nice to have, but don't have to have traction.

3/14/18 - today was warm, about mid 60's, so there wasn't any ice at the top. A few sections of the packed show was a little wet and slippery, but not difficult at all. I had brought microspikes just in case and didn't need to use them.

Did this hike with my 12 year old daughter. Started around 10:00 am and it wasn't very busy. Got to the top and took in the view for a few minutes. Made it back down around 11:30 and it was considerably busier. Great hike, strenuous but not difficult. there was some icy spots (mid March) so be careful. Great day hike, I recommend it.

Was fun , great for a quick weekend hike ! Was pretty active a lot of bike riders but they were courteous and path was shared .
Great views found a little hidden water fall that was frozen ! Kids loved it would go back again .

Pretty boring at this time of year.

Super dog friendly and beautiful trail. Incline is steady in parts and more severe in others but overall it’s not that difficult. Rewards are the view at brothers lookout.

Moderately hard...best view is when you reach the top. There are two other nice trails it leads into: Beaver Brook Trail and the Lookout Mountain trail.

Very moderate incline and declines over the long trail. Quite populated but not overbearing. Beautiful scenery and overall great weekend hike!

A couple of people didn’t have their kids on a leash and were flying up behind hikers on mountain bikes without saying anything. If my dog has manners, your kid can too.

But that was at the bottom. Other than that was outstanding. No need for spikes or anything

Great hiking. No ice. Not overly crowded early.

Was a good trail with some good views at the top. The hike up had a decent amount of ice and some snow. I made it without micro spikes but they would have helped after the first 1.5 miles or so.

Yaktrax were needed. The falls are still frozen but was a great hike.

Nice hike close to home. There are foxes/ coyote in the area so please, please keep your dogs on leash. Saw poor Suzie getting cornered by a pack of 4, i was too far to see what exactly they were. Thankfully the owner retrieved the dog with no major issue but it could very well have gone another way.
I spoke with a jeffco ranger who said a female mountain has been known to frequent the area so please keep your furry friends close and also, pack out their poo.

Nice and easy trail. The overlook was pretty too. Dog friendly. A bit icy and snowy at parts, but micro spikes aren't necessary.

Scoped this trail out to potentially take family here this weekend, and will definitely be returning. The weather was perfect and the trails were clear for the most part, with little ice and manageable snow.

The views were great and there weren’t too many ppl since I went on a Wednesday but the storms last week made parts of the trail incredibly muddy/slippery... would definitely go again though when the trail is in better shape! Bring sunscreen though since the trail is rarely shaded and know that the Rim Trail portion is closed beginning of February through July (pretty sure those were the dates).

Hiked this today, starting around 10:30am. The trail is so much calmer this time of year when the crowds die down. Spikes were definitely helpful, though not necessary. I’m not a particularly fast hiker, but I was lapping hikers without spikes. Beautiful hike with fantastic views of both sides of the mountain.

This was my first hike in Colorado back in the summer time. I’ve hiked it a few times now but it always takes a bit out of me. Granted, I run and climb mostly, but compared to other hikes I’ve been on, ran and climbed on, the flat irons manage to be a great work out for me.

PS: climbing the actual flat iron itself is amazingly ballsy but reaps a great reward.. I did it with no equipment at all (not at all smart but I’m risky), and I first off: I felt a great sense of gratitude as I made it alive because climbing down wasn’t much of an option so I had to climb all the way up.. but secondly the physical relief of making it to the top and resting and taking in the view.. man. I’d do it again but it requires quite a bit of focus ha

We completed a 3.8 mile loop from North Table Loop to Mesa Top Trail to Cottonwood Canyon Trail. There was a lot of snow on the top of the mesa, but it was a fantastic hike, with some neat views. The mesa's totally exposed (no shade), so it actually makes for a really good winter hike-- I'm sure the sun beating down could be brutal in the middle of the summer.

The view was okay. Weather was incredibly nice (67F in February!) but it was icey and muddy some point. A lot of traffic with hikers, runners and bikers. Since I have done Lookout mountain before, I didn't go all the way to finish this map. Still got 1.5 hour of hike done.

Lovely and pleasant 2.5hour walk through the forest, so quiet and peaceful. Didn’t come across too many people. Path was mostly good although some areas rather icy - we managed with good walking shoes but would recommend stabilizers. Not that strenuous, but a good bit of exercise!

good hike, yaktrax helped a lot with ice

Fun trail! Easy to follow, nice for bikers, has a few shady spots with good views. Parking’s available at trailhead. I went feb 9 and the Rim Rock trail along with the east portion of the Mesa Top trail (black diamond part) were closed.

Hiked today with cramp ons! It was a great day! Trail was icy but with the cramps it was perfect! Nice workout

A bit muddy because of the recent snow, but fairly easy over all.

Icy in spots, but not too slippery.

Great hike for a sunny Tuesday! The trail was empty and easy to follow. It was snowy & a bit slippery, but nothing I couldn’t fix with my spikes. The trail up to Windy Peak was steep but manageable, and well worth the views at the top.
