Completed Hikes Map

For reference we got there at 6:30 a.m. on a Saturday and there were only a few parking spots left. Loved the hike despite the large crowd.

Went up last weekend. Clean trails, steep in sections. Great views. Highly recommend.

This is my favorite hiking trail in the Phoenix area. Very do-able, just takes a while to complete. For me about three hours round trip. I’ve seen young children to elderly people at the top, observing the awesome view of Weavers Needle. Dog friendly, however, my ten month old Lab was a little tired the last mile. We came prepared with food, so with a bite to eat and a break, she was able to finish the hike on her own. Between the two of us I had three liters of water on me. Several shady spots on the path as well. Highly recommend!

go up to the top , then come back down to the half way point. then run the back side all the way around to the front parking lot.

only did it 11 times in a row , in 13 hrs .

We did this today, but via National Trail at Buena Vista Lot, and it was great. Made it to Fat Man’s pass and turned around.

Fun hike! Get there early if going on the weekend because it gets busy.

It was a very difficult trail towards the summit. It was totally worth the climb, and I felt very accomplished after the climb.

Watched the sunrise over horseshoe bend this week. Absolutely amazing. Very few people there at that time, but by the time he sun came up it was packed already. Recommend going early.

Beautiful. The hike out to the first lookout is only 2.2 miles, but it’s easy to keep going and turn back depending on how long you want the hike to be. Clear path and no climbing. There were only a few stretches of steep hiking, but otherwise it was not too strenuous. I would say this is a fairly easy hike, even for beginner hikers!

Fun and challenging hike. Right around 5 mi round trip. I’m in pretty good shape and pushed myself to get to the top and back in just under 80 min for a workout (not running). Casually this hike is more like 2.5 hrs if you want to enjoy the awesome views. Best to get there before 8 am to beat the rush.

First time doing this trail yesterday, and loved it. Definitely challenging and an excellent workout, the views from the top don't disappoint.

Great hike up and back with a lot of scenic views along the way. First mile is a little challenging but the reward is worth it.

For lots of breaks and someone out of shape, 3 hours round trip. Definitely something I have to do at least once a year. If parking wasn’t so difficult, I would go every weekend! We went around 11:30 on a Thursday and it was crowded.

The top was worth every hard step I took. I’ve heard of the staying to the left but knowing me I ended up in the rock climbing trail that was very difficult but lead me to the top. A beautiful trail with great views. Take lots of water at least 3 liters and snacks. Have fun!

Beautiful up and back on well maintained trail

The best hike I’ve been on so far! Absolutely stunning views, maintained trails and a bathroom on site!!! Fun incline workout, Loved it!!!

Respectable short hike but too much traffic and not much variation along the way.

Great hike with several challenges. Parking fills up so get there early.

Excellent hike and weather today! Highly recommend!!!

Crowded and people get too close to the edge, but pretty

This was a great run. The first Mile is hard and really gets your heart rate up quickly. After that it levels off a bit to the top and has great views.

I'M EXHAUSTED! An hour trek to the top with water breaks. A complete work out with lots of sweat included, and I still have to go back down to the trailhead. Well worth it.

Not too strenuous, well marked and easy to run.

Very intense long hike. The views are worth it in the end though. Just take it easy and break as much as you need. We hiked this when it was colder so I didn't drink as much water but I can imagine you would need to bring a lot more if you tried this during the summer months.

Hiked this trail with a few friends. Started hike around 8 am to avoid hot sun and to get a parking spot at the base of the mountain. Trail was well travelled with numerous challenging sections. Our first time, it took us about 2 hours. Great views from the top and well worth the climb. Good footwear is a must and three point contact on the way down helped in avoiding jarring of the knees.

Hiked with a couple of friends. Challenging but very rewarding. Left before 8 am and was able to stay in the shadow of the mountain until the very top. Still drank lots of water as it was still a hot day. Got off trail a few times as the white dots and blue dots were not always distinguishable from natural white rocks. Legs got a good workout.

My so much of a hike as it is a rock climb! It's a scramble up rocks for about half of it. The view was amazing the whole way up, though. Getting to the top was insanely rewarding.
My boyfriend and I are collegiate athletes, swimmer and cross country, and we were able to finish the whole hike in about 3.5 hours. Bring lots of water and snacks.

Adding to my full review below:
We left the S Kaibab trailhead at 630am and took 3.5 hours to reach the silver bridge that crosses Colorado. (We picked up the River Trail heading left when Kaibab had gone right towards the black bridge)

I’ve excluded the time for photo stops, and two restroom breaks.

We stayed at the river/Phantom Ranch for 2 hours and headed back up Bright Angel at 1220. We reached Indian Garden/Tonto East by 3pm.

We finished at 1848. So the trip back up 13 mi took us 6.5 hours including all the breaks. And it was very difficult for the last 3 hours due to altitude.

This was a great all day hike, it turned out to be 8 miles total from where we were parked and back. Lots of hard work but the views were well worth it! Our group did not bring gloves but there were many who did, totally a personal preference. It was fine without them. Enjoy!
