This trail is rated as hard and it sort of is, but I think this is a great trail for beginners. It’s decently tracked out and it’s a good challenge to push yourself even if you’re just getting started. I like it because I don’t often run into people and that’s one of the things I seek most in a trail. I gave it four stars because the views are pretty cool but not amazing.

I did this hike last weekend while visiting for a race and it was absolutely beautiful. The climb is steep in areas but well worth the view of the lake at the top! It took us about 4 hours and that included stops for pictures and hanging out around the lake soaking in all the views! So glad I did this hike while visiting, it was especially magical with the fall colors!

Awesome trail. It levels out after about 20 minutes. Lots of shade for the majority of it. Opens up to a beautiful field with trees if you want to hammock. Ducks at the lake are super friendly

Hiked this trail in January and it was covered in snow. Amazing hike. We accidentally went up a side path and went the wrong way, which was easy enough to figure out when we saw some skiers coming down it. Stay to the left lol
This hike is super easy even in the snow. Had a blast and the little falls that’s at the end was worth the little hike there.

Love the trail. Steep at first but worth the climb. Smithing special about hiking through aspen forests. Ducks are very friendly at the lake. Only reason for the 4 rating is because it’s a busy trail.

Steep as hell but very rewarding. Lake Blanche is breathtaking and there are two more lakes with a gorgeous backdrop within a few hundred yards. About half the trail is shaded, the water level of the lake is super low in the fall so you can walk around the whole thing pretty quickly.

hey was a nice beautiful hike today. This is definitely a hard level hike. Don't let anybody fool you thinking this is an intermediate hike you need to be in good shape and be ready to rock. Definitely bring good shoes as there is a lot of rocks and this Trail has a steady incline and will test your Fitness level.

Easy trail, somewhat protected with a gentle ascent, barely noticeable once you are on the trail. Only tricky part is getting down to the creek just before you get to the falls. Rocks are a little slick and you just need to be careful. Crossing the creek is easiest if you just get your shoes a bit wet. Gala are gorgeous and be really careful if you decide to head up to the falls.

Completely breathtaking scenery. After hiking mount Olympus this was a piece of cake. I think it should be rated as moderate.

I did this hike on the way to Kineo Mountain. Pretty easy hike with a lot of familes with small children and dogs. I highly suggest continuing on past the 7th bridge for a more secluded hike and more of a challenge as most people turn around. My dog of course loved all the water to play in and there are some great hammock and lunch spots in the trees along the river.

It’s a pretty steep and rocky trail but a beautiful hike. I wish I had worn shoes with more ankle support. It was a little longer than anticipated but it is something you can spend the day on.

Nice trial, great views of water. When you get to the parking lot take the entrance on the left with a small gate and walk down till you see 622 on the right and go to the right.

So beautiful but for sure a doozy! Comparable to Squaw Peak if you’ve done that hike. Loved the views!

Worth the struggle

Pretty beautiful; enjoyed it. Great hike for a date with someone who isn’t that outdoorsy.

Your heart rate will skyrocket as soon as you start. It's a sufferfest, but I love it every time. Be sure to plan out when you go. It can get really crowded. Be sure to have enough water too. The views from the top are totally worth the effort. Type 2 fun at its best.

Pretty hike through aspen trees. The beginning is pretty steep, but the hike is so short it's really no big deal. The lake is pretty and if you sit there quietly you will see Moose! We saw 5!

Let’s be clear and say that leaving your orange peels, pistachio shells, and Cheerios is not Leave No Trace. Please plan ahead or put that stuff in your backpack!

On a positive note, it was a fun hike that takes about an hour and a half each direction at a quick pace.

Great hike. Good to start early if possible. Steep climb. Good hiking shoes and plenty of water are advisable. There are many good spots for pictures. I took my camera, hammock, and day pack and spent the day around the lakes.

very fun the donut was a hike to get to though.

"Bang for the buck," the best views available along the wasatch front considering the effort you make to get there. The trail is mostly shaded and this makes the fall colors amazing along the way. This is a very popular hike so weekends are busy and parking can be the biggest challenge. The trail is somewhat difficult if you don't either hike or workout regularly. Bring a lunch and enjoy the views at the lake.

The best hike I’ve ever been on. The views are amazing facing Sundial Peak and the view of where you came from is breathtaking. If you go on a weekday you’ll have significantly less crowds.

This was a beautiful hike but you now have to pay 6 dollars to park at the base of the hike or walk 2.2 miles to get to the hike.

Did this one in August, beautiful views. Long hike with a steady incline but not incredibly difficult. Bring lots of water and be prepared for the summit to be buzzing... with people who drove up : |.

Easy, scenic hike. First things first, parking is along the side of the road, but it’s easy to miss if you don’t know where it is. Although it’s a quick hike up, it’s really steep. Basically no switch backs and just straight up. Even so, only takes around 20 minutes. Once you get to the lake (which is small), the view is beautiful. Lots of aspens and a good view of Solitude. The ducks here are friendly, they swam right over to me, I assume because they expected food. I also saw 2 huge moose, and I went around 1. Good hike if you’re looking for something quick and scenic.

My first visit to Colorado Springs. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the trail and accessibility. Beautiful!

Hiking on a weekday when it’s less busy? Want to shave 1.6 miles off the stated 3.0 mileage? Save yourself the aggravation and drive the 0.8 miles down the road to the ACTUAL trailhead. I really wish people used these reviews to provide useful information as was intended for this forum. The app incorrectly states that the trailhead is off the side of the highway but if you drive down the paved road for 0.8 miles you will see the actual trailhead. I was really irritated to add mileage walking down a private road which doubled the actual mileage of the hike — especially on a Monday when it wasn’t busy and there were spots at the trailhead. The trailhead isnt large so I imagine on weekends it would fill up quickly. I’d say maybe 20 cars can fit, maybe less. Wish I knew this before hand. Also once you make it to the waterfall if you want to see the actual donut hole that people photograph you have to hike up the waterfall over slick rocks. While this did not pose a problem for me, a lot of the reviews claim the elderly can do this hike and I’d like to clarify that it is true to a point given the climb up the waterfall itself. If you’re reading this please pass it forward and write useful information on these reviews so it helps everyone seeking information. Should be common sense. Don’t be a sheeple.

From Missouri reviewer: this trail was very easy. There’s a bit of an incline at the beginning but otherwise it was a great trail for all ages. The waterfall was beautiful but very rocky so be careful! We climbed up and over the waterfall to have lunch and it was lovely. Highly recommend for a quick hike for people not from Utah, and who aren’t use to the altitude but still wanna get outside.
