such beautiful views. a very short hike up to the top but just enough to make you feel like you did a workout

beautiful! good to get the blood going.

really beautiful views

This was a fun little hike. I stayed near the university so I walked from there. I didn’t wind up doing the loop trail, I took a steeper shortcut that had some really beautiful views and a great overlook where I stopped for lunch. You can drive up to the top but you would totally miss out on some great scenery. Definitely a good payoff for such a short hike. Victoria is a lovey place.

Not to difficult and well worth it when you get to go for a swing

one of our favorite places

other than a bit of steep scrambling it is mostly moderate. well marked, if you can't see an orange marker, you veered off course. great views part way and at the top.

Short hike, but there is a bit of an incline to get your heart rate up a tiny bit.

Good little trail ! Right in the hussle and bussle of Langford. Lots of nice people and dogs. Hope it doesn’t go condo like the rest of Langford.

Easy walking with, convenient access to the ocean.

Beautiful views at the top and several viewpoints on your way. This trail is essentially all at an incline on your way up but otherwise not very technical. Make sure to bring hydration, and I would recommend bringing a small lunch too! Took us about 3 hours in all (including time taken to eat at the top).

Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a solid hike.

Beautiful fall afternoon made this a lovely hike. Great views.

Butt kicker getting up there, but the views are so worth it

Nice hike, two ways up. Red gate is a fairly easy to moderate double wide trail. The Yellow gate is 1/2km further down Strathcona heights near the end of the road. The Yellow gate is a steep moderate double trail at first then turns into a single trail from the radio tower. The single trail is steep and hard to find at times but amazing views of Shawnigan Lake looking West. Imagine sunsets up there on a clear day are pretty amazing.

It’s worth every step! Really steep trail but the views are awesome!

Trail is well maintained and very easy to follow. Great views at the top

Great hike... but the coastal trail section should be ranked as Difficult!! Saw some seals fishing in the algae, beautiful scenery - especially on costal section. Also a great leash free hike for well behaved dogs! Good shoes required for some sections.

Great hike, but steep and Rocky. Swing is the best part with great photos. Takes about 30-40 mins, park down by yellow gate.

Definitely steep but beautiful and short. Be sure to stay on the path though because there are parts that don’t get a lot of sun and the moss can be slippery if you veer off. Views are worth the hike!!

nice trail, great view from top. Be sure to keep going to the second look out- we almost missed it as all pics online are from first lookout.

Short but steep with an amazing view at the end.

Easy walk on the waterfront. Paved. Great with kids, strollers and infant carriers.

Great trail. Some sections of the old trail still accessible and highly recommended.

Great trail easy to follow the orange markers. Great climb, it was a misty day so didn’t get to see the views but the hike a beautiful.

The start of the trail is a gravel/dirt road. There's not much to see until you get off the Sooke mountain trail and transition over to the Juniper trail. It will roughly take 30-45 min to get off this road.

The incline is very consistent. It does get quite a bit steeper as you get closer to the peak. However this change in gradation is very short.

Great 360 degrees view at the summit!

Very picturesque and well marked. Hike to the bottom to look up at the trestle

East walk to ocean down hill then Cascade trail up very steep. Good thing only .6 of a km. Well groomed. Timberline back to parking lot a welcome easy hike to the car. Would do the reverse next time.

A great trail. Some nice up and down, well travelled and beautiful. A good little hike for the whole family. Lots of little sit down spots or lookout points. Take you time and enjoy Dean Park

We also took the wrong trail went the long way but it was well worth it as the view was great. The cross is not near as far but we will save that trail for another time.
