great hike, but we would recommend yak trax or similar foot wear. current conditions are snow packed and icy on about half the trail. not impassable, but coming down around 11am was a bit slick without extra traction. overall, it's all it's cracked up to be.

This trail was gorgeous! Hiked it 10/21/18, spikes would have been helpful and probably safer, the trail was icy. For parking, either get there early on a weekend or take a shuttle if you can, there isn't much parking and it gets competitive.

Hiked this today, I'd definitely recommend microspikes. I ran into a lot of people having very bad times on the trail with just shoes. Personally, I turned around right after the waterfall - lots of steepness/ice and I was a bit anxious since snow and ice earlier on the trail had started melting. I did run into a few people who either got to Lake of Glass or all the way to Sky Pond, so it's definitely doable if you know what you're doing.

Glad I did this on a weekday. very crowded. however, the snow on the trail was slushy, so easy to get around. would recommend poles and/or spikes on a colder day. (we were 59 degrees)

great views and had a great time with my non climbing family.

Hiked from DL Bliss to Vikingsholm. Very pretty hike! We completed this section in 2 hours.

It’s a very beautiful hike with lots of lake views. We stopped by at Granite Lake for lunch and since it was end of fall, it wasn’t very crowded. The trail is well maintained. The views at various vistas are spectacular. I’d rate it between moderate and difficult.

The title of this hike is just for the paved walk before entering the canyon to wade through the river. This part is easy. Obviously the hike gets harder once you are wading through shin deep water which sometimes reaches waist deep or more depending on how far you go. In the fall for sure, I recommend renting shoes, socks, pants, and a hiking pole from an outfitter in Springdale as the water is cold and there is little sun. Anyone bothering to wade through the river should make it to wall street. It is the best portion of the canyon. It is not signed, so get a pamphlet from the outfitter. Access is via Zion's 40 minute shuttle bus ride. Parking is limited at the visitor center. Go early to avoid crowds and to be able to see where you are walking in the river. This is a great hike. Challenging, but worth the trek especially if you intend to camp. Just a couple of things I found would make it more enjoyable. Keep your app open as it is helpful to get you back on track as this one is a tough one to follow in many places. There are cairns the entire trail... thank you to those putting those in place. I wore tennis shoes which was fine, but hiking boots would have been better especially with the rocky terrain that covers most of the trail. If you’re backpacking I recommend trekking poles. This made the trip a lot easier for me just for stability while carrying the weight on the rocks and over boulders and downed trees. Day pack probably not necessary. Camped out at the last lake, had some great picks with fire pits. It was pretty and only a couple of us up there for October. Beautiful night. Had cellphone service the entire way, but could also still hear the highway at the last lake as well.

Just finished the hike with my 4yo daughter! She loved it! She made it to Emerald Lake and then rode in the pack on the way back. I’ve made the Dream Lake hike prior but the extra distance to Emerald is absolutely worth it!!

We carried 2 babies in packs up to these lakes during heavy snow. There is steady elevation which may be difficult for people carrying kids or people who aren’t fully ready for the altitude, but the built in rewards of each lake made it a hike not to miss! It wasn’t too slippery even in the snow. It was definitely busy but don’t let that deter you!

My parents visiting from low altitude came along and they said the trail was definitely misleading being called “easy.” I agree... I think it is NOT an easy trail for inexperienced hikers or people brand new to altitude. It is probably best described as moderate.

One of my favorites, a gorgeous hike! We started out at the trailhead at D. L. Bliss, the campground was closed and the parking at the front was full, but we found parking along the street. We only hiked to Vikingsholm and then turned around, next time we’ll continue the hike into Emerald Bay , with stopping to eat our lunch, and taking pictures, it took us 5 Hrs. Next time and that’s if we get an early start because of parking, we might try starting at Vikingsholm, hike into Emerald Bay, back to Vikingsholm, and continue towards D. L. Bliss for a ways, and back to Vikingsholm, it is a long hike , and my husband and I are feeling the soreness the next day, but it’s a good soreness! Love this hike, I highly recommend, especially in October when the crowds were minimal and the aspens scattered randomly along the hike were so beautiful.

I just did this one on 10/16. So glad the ranger recommended to go to one of the outfitters in town. We rented the dry pants, boots, a dry sack for out bags, and a pole, very worth it. The water was freezing and it can be very slippery and easy to roll an ankle if you don't have the proper footwear, the stick really helped to catch my balance a few times. The pant helped keep my pants underneath completely dry and warm too. The water was pretty much ankle to waist deep, I'm 5'8". there are also dry areas that you can walk in too to take a break from the water. We made it all the way up to the end of Wall Street, Wish I new the mileage to each point.

Dusty but easy family and dog friendly trail with nice viewpoint of Lake Tahoe at top and on descent.

Amazing hike! Trail was a little bit icy, we hiked mid October

The best Fall hike! Bring the family.

hiking poles and spikes are a must this time of the year with frozen trail on about 90% of the way. though regret not having brought my ski gloves and pants as i was digging in over 2 ft of snow in some areas last week, but the views were well worth the challenge. good thing about hiking this time of the year is bears are asleep and you just need to hike up and slide all the way back down! ;) go easy and enjoy

Beautiful hike! Quite the workout, but very worth it!

We were celebrating our ten year anniversary and decided to try out this hike that was supposed to be fairly easy. I have a shoulder injury and a bad back so this hike felt slightly more moderate to me. But it was my first time hiking as well so I didn’t know what to expect. I left the mountain telling my husband it was one of the best days of my life. Next to the Grand Canyon it absolutely was the most magnificent view. Definitely hike all the way up if you can. The last part of the hike between dream lake and emerald lake was lots of stairs which was the hardest part. But even with the snow and ice it was not so bad with lots of breaks. The path is well maintained and as mentioned there’s lots of friends to meet along the way. If you can go when the snow is on the trees then do it. It truly was breathtaking and we didn’t have any problems with the wind at all so we must have gotten lucky. Happy hiking!

I guess my one mistake was I didn’t rent any equipment...the water was cold probably in the lower 50s. I couldn’t wait to get out of the water. The rocks have lots of algae on them making them slippery poles would have been helpful. The view was wonderful however.

Today it was pretty icy at parts, but definitely worth it. We survived in regular tennis shoes with a couple slips here and there. The views were incredible, both of the mountains at large and all the lakes you come across. Highly recommend going early in the morning as the trail traffic was pretty high and only seemed more crowded as we were leaving.

Great trail. You can tailor it to skill level. Either hike to just the lookout point, or continue down to the lake.

Absolutely amazing. Busy trail in the summer.

Hiked this today. Most of the trail is covered in snow and ice— definitely need microspikes, especially for the last half mile. Past Lake of Glass the trail is hard to find. Snow is deep and the path beat in through the snow is not the actual trail and can be hard to follow. Weather was absolutely perfect!

Best hike ever!!! We hiked it with all 4 of our kids ages10,7,5 and 3 (husband carried the 3yr old) we loved it!! It was early July so the end of the trail was closed due to snow. But still highly recommended!! Take water as it really warms up on the way back!

This trail has amazing views of the mountains and multiple lakes along the way. It was a bit slippery but once your muscles get used to it, it isn't too bad.

Beautiful views! $10 parking fee cash or credit.

My wife and I made it all the way up with only our hiking boots. We both agree that going up with crampons would have been better. We had one slip/fall on an icy decline. Plus going up the water fall just below Lake of Glass was a little dicey, but a decent amount of people made it up and back down. We enjoyed trotting our snow pants up and put them on for the decent so we could “sled” down some of the steeper areas. Others were jealous. Overall we loved our trip. Walked over a frozen lake and Sky pond was just beautiful to celebrate our 5th anniversary.

Really beautiful and super fun, but definitely needed our crampons. Poles would have been helpful on occasion as well. I wouldn’t advise doing this one so late in the season unless you have the right gear for snow and ice.

Not really a hike, but still worth the short walk around the lake for the amazing views. We got some great photos of three moose taking a stroll through the lake during our walk on June 27, 2018.

Fantastic hike with awesome views. Perfect length for a good workout, yet not to strenuous. Great for families!
