great hike, but we would recommend yak trax or similar foot wear. current conditions are snow packed and icy on about half the trail. not impassable, but coming down around 11am was a bit slick without extra traction. overall, it's all it's cracked up to be.

This trail was gorgeous! Hiked it 10/21/18, spikes would have been helpful and probably safer, the trail was icy. For parking, either get there early on a weekend or take a shuttle if you can, there isn't much parking and it gets competitive.

nice

Glad I did this on a weekday. very crowded. however, the snow on the trail was slushy, so easy to get around. would recommend poles and/or spikes on a colder day. (we were 59 degrees)

great views and had a great time with my non climbing family.

we went here oct 21. the hanging lake itself is absolutely gorgeous! unfortunately you have to climb for over a mile almost the entire way. it definitely took the wind out of us being from GA and all :P I was a little disappointed because the waterfall was pretty dried up at this time of the season. it would have been nicer in the spring or summer when the waterfall is a constant companion. all in all quiet nice. definitely take your time as some of the rocks are extremely slippy! I lost count of how many people I saw slip on the rocks both on the way up and down.

Started at trail head around 930. Was pretty packed at the arch but a great hike. Some challenging switchbacks for people like us that live at sea level. Take plenty of water!!! Gorgeous views of the flatirons and surrounding valley. The arch is absolutely stunning. Will do again when I come back to the Denver/Boulder area.

Went on a Saturday morning (10/20) around 9:00. Wasn't busy on the way up but packed on the way down. Challenging hike but nice views at the top and the arch is very cool.

Hiked this trail with my fiancé on 10/21 around 10 AM. Lots of parking spaces available and hardly anyone on the trail- We were able to get to the top in 3 hours with plenty of breaks thanks to our trekking poles and crampons. More than half the trail is covered in snow and ice. The summit was absolutely beautiful. There is a spot for you to sit and take in the view. You get a great view of Longs Peak and Estes Park. We don’t recommend going to the East twin peak as there is no trail to the top and falling rocks make it super dangerous. It took us 1.5 hours to get down. Best hike in Estes Park!

Favorite trail in Boulder!

This was a great hike! There are three lakes at the top, the third is a bit further up & is frozen over. The trail is completely snow covered and icy in some patches but passable the whole way. Spikes would be nice if you like to use them, but not necessary. It was a little windy at the third lake and we were occasionally stepping into knee deep snow. Great hike with the doggies. We saw a few other groups of people along the way. Absolutely gorgeous!

Love this trail! Short hike with beautiful view at the top!

Just finished the hike with my 4yo daughter! She loved it! She made it to Emerald Lake and then rode in the pack on the way back. I’ve made the Dream Lake hike prior but the extra distance to Emerald is absolutely worth it!!

Hiked this in the afternoon on the 18th. First time to the park and the trail. Wonderful day. Due to some traffic, I made it to peak with trail running shoes...just a couple slick spots.

I'm sort of in between a 3 and 4 on this one.

PROS: Bathroom at start, lots of parking nice trail. Some decent views, although, at this time of year, there was no "falls" to look at. Just a trickle coming down...literally!
CONS: Not specifically a con, but make sure to review the map prior to starting. It connects to the Spring Creek Trail and then Soderberg as well... be mindful of that. All Trails *sometimes* mentions when there are connections and sometimes doesn't. My friend and I went to a dead end due to this. This makes it sound like it is just one name all the way around.

It was decently hard in some spots (elevation gain!) so the designation of moderate is right. My phone app said we went 4.2 miles, however maybe we went longer due to going off course a bit. All in all, decent and a nice hike for a sunny Sunday (no shade) in the fall.

We carried 2 babies in packs up to these lakes during heavy snow. There is steady elevation which may be difficult for people carrying kids or people who aren’t fully ready for the altitude, but the built in rewards of each lake made it a hike not to miss! It wasn’t too slippery even in the snow. It was definitely busy but don’t let that deter you!

My parents visiting from low altitude came along and they said the trail was definitely misleading being called “easy.” I agree... I think it is NOT an easy trail for inexperienced hikers or people brand new to altitude. It is probably best described as moderate.

Amazing hike! Trail was a little bit icy, we hiked mid October

hiking poles and spikes are a must this time of the year with frozen trail on about 90% of the way. though regret not having brought my ski gloves and pants as i was digging in over 2 ft of snow in some areas last week, but the views were well worth the challenge. good thing about hiking this time of the year is bears are asleep and you just need to hike up and slide all the way back down! ;) go easy and enjoy

We were celebrating our ten year anniversary and decided to try out this hike that was supposed to be fairly easy. I have a shoulder injury and a bad back so this hike felt slightly more moderate to me. But it was my first time hiking as well so I didn’t know what to expect. I left the mountain telling my husband it was one of the best days of my life. Next to the Grand Canyon it absolutely was the most magnificent view. Definitely hike all the way up if you can. The last part of the hike between dream lake and emerald lake was lots of stairs which was the hardest part. But even with the snow and ice it was not so bad with lots of breaks. The path is well maintained and as mentioned there’s lots of friends to meet along the way. If you can go when the snow is on the trees then do it. It truly was breathtaking and we didn’t have any problems with the wind at all so we must have gotten lucky. Happy hiking!

Rewarding Trail for steep ascend and rocky terrain.
Hiked on 20/10 with no snow, good footing.
Large crowds on the trail but very friendly people.

Today it was pretty icy at parts, but definitely worth it. We survived in regular tennis shoes with a couple slips here and there. The views were incredible, both of the mountains at large and all the lakes you come across. Highly recommend going early in the morning as the trail traffic was pretty high and only seemed more crowded as we were leaving.

Great hike. Beautiful view up at lake.

This trail has amazing views of the mountains and multiple lakes along the way. It was a bit slippery but once your muscles get used to it, it isn't too bad.

Always nice to come back here, any season is enjoyable. If I were to follow the map, you ended up going on actual Dam Road instead of Dam Road Trail, so I didn't use the Dam Road since it's dangerous and you shouldn't be walking/running there. Cut about 2 miles by doing so. Someone mentioned that there's no sign for the trail but there are a bunch. This is a Cherry Creek Trail and you basically go LOOP on this that's why it called "Cherry Creek Resivour Loop Trail". Still good to download the map if you want to make sure which way you're going. The park is pretty big and if you're not used to this park, you'll get lost.

Really nice and amazing view

Fantastic hike with awesome views. Perfect length for a good workout, yet not to strenuous. Great for families!

Amazing. As good as it gets!

The trail was pretty icy and snowy, but our hiking boots worked just fine. If you have spikes or hiking poles I recommend bringing them along. The view at the top was definitely worth the climb. The water pump at the trailhead was closed down, so make sure to fill up waters beforehand.

Hiked Twin Sisters trail on Oct 19, 2018. left parking area at 7 am and had the trail to myself. Some areas were snow covered with packed snow and ice. Bring Yak tracks! Beautiful 360 views from the peak.

This hike is well worth it when you get to the top but NOT an easy hike. Uphill much of the way but just take your time.

Nice hike for the whole family (including dogs). Short uphill climb to the glacier and a great view, you can spend more time hanging out or walking up and around the glacier if you want. Parking lots are a little rocky and have a $5 fee.
