Awesome trail! Started a little too late and made it nearly a mile from the end and it was getting too late and we were too tired to go any faster. Right now only need mircospikes, snowshoes don't seem necessary if you stay on the hard packed trail. Trees blocked most of the wind. Definitely will be going again!

A workout with an awesome view at the top, it was a warmer day so the base was slightly muddy in places but quickly turned into packed snow for most of the trail with exposed rocks here and there, I was glad to have microspikes for the second (steeper) half but my friend survived with just hiking boots.

When I go to Colorado, I get excited thinking about summiting this peak. I absolutely love this trail!

Beautiful morning with a nice amount of snow and a little ice. Bring your spikes.

You get a great hike, great elevation gain, and parts of the hike are better than being on a stair master. You do catch a break in the beginning and middle parts where you are just walking through parts that aren’t strenuous but this hike makes up for those breaks. Trail was well groomed. No snow pack (11/28/18) but a few slick and icy rock scrambles were yak traks would absolutely benefit you. Enjoy!

My husband and baby went snowshoeing here today; it's a long-shot, but he lost his car keys. Old beat up key for a Scion tC, safety pin, house key, and a silver metal flash drive. If anyone happens out there tomorrow and sees them, please let me know! RhiannonDean07 @ gmail

This is a fabulous trail in any season Today's early morning snow shoeing found packed snow at start of trail with much deeper snow as elevation increased. I turned around once I entered the alpine terrain above tree line. There was only one other person on the trail this morning, so I basically had the trail to myself (and my dog).

A little tough getting from parking to trail. Good snowpack, could get by with spikes.

Well-maintained trail with great views of the canyon. Some parts of the trail are icy - wear YakTraks if you have them and your trek will be much more enjoyable. Dog poop on the trail both in and out of bags. There is an $8 fee to enter the park.

Tried to hike this today and it was covered in ice. Decided to turn back shortly after we started. Definitely recommend spikes at this point in the season, especially with the high winds we have had recently.

Probably the best shaded hike I’ve ever done!!

Great hike, I would agree with another poster that it’s moreso easy rather than moderate. There were a few icy spots, but we were fine without our spikes. Beautiful views, well maintained trail—I would come back.

Extremely beautiful!!! Make sure once you hit the first lake, to keep going. Did this hike over the summer and was beautiful the whole way! Not sure what the blue bomber is speaking of! Peaceful and gorgeous.

Beautiful trail. Tough trail, a lot of uphill and tricky footing in places. Worth the climb for sure. Beautiful views! Be sure you have plenty of water.

Absolutely beautiful.

did this a few years ago so going off of memory! I remember loving the views at the top but it was more difficult than I thought it would be. it is a crowded trail for good reasons. we hiked it during July and got stuck it two afternoon thunderstorms, looking back it's funny, but I remember being cold/wet then dry/hot! but that's not that unusual for Boulder

Took us longer than expected, but well worth the views! I knew it was steep, but it turned out to be more challenging than I expected. The view at the top of the peak is well worth the views. We went during early snow fall in November, which made it quite a bit more challenging due to the ice on the rocks, but really the trail was pretty protected from the wind and snow drift so doable. Make sure to bring shoe spikes if you go during the snowy season.

love this hike! have completed it a couple times. great to take out of towners who want to see our beautiful canyons, feel accomplished, but not terribly difficult. lots of areas to stop and enjoy the views. fun seeing the rock climbers throughout the canyon. interesting history with the hotel ruins.

beautiful peak, but tougher than expected. saw a lot of other hikes even though the weather wasn't great. I'd probably do it again though!

Amazing hike with good technical areas. Go in the snow if you really want a good challenge, but to get to the peak you’ll definitely want trail spikes. Lots of trails to link onto too. definitely one to add to the books!

11/16/18 - packed snow/ice all the way up to the lakes. Carried snowshoes but didn’t use them, only used microspikes but could’ve been done without. Very few people past TH, nothing spectacular until the views above treeline. Damn kids doing there vaping stuff around Echo Lake, hopefully the fruity chemical flavors they crave will end up killing them sooner than later so when we go out to get fresh air, we can breathe it instead of breathing their second hand vape smoke!!!

Today the trail was packed, didn't need snowshoes until that last 1/2 mile after turnoff for Lost Lake. Most of the hike was shielded from wind before getting to the lake. Super gusty today so not a fun afternoon to linger at Lost lake, but saw a few pretty views while there. It's a fun and easy to moderate level snowshoe trail.

Loved this hike! We went 11/12 and it was super snowy! A lot of people had snow shoes but our spikes worked just fine. Saw 3 large moose on the trail! You have to hike about a mile from your car to the trail head, so factor that in! Also, there was a frozen stream you could hike, however with our spikes it was a little sketchy. If you don’t want to hike the stream there is a trail to the right of the stream that goes through the woods in order to get you to the trailhead.

Currently packed snow and ice on most of the trails. Microspikes recommended.

Incredible trail! The snow makes the trek a little difficult but the views are beyond rewarding! Went last weekend and left feeling changed. Hop over to @2_Summit_Up on Instagram to see great pictures of what you can expect to see on this trail

I love this trail. I completed it last month before the snow. The nature and views are beautiful. I loved watching the train pass in the distance. I am a Colorado native so I never really feel inclined to go back to most trails but I will definitely hike this trail again. There is an $8 fee to get into Eldorado State Park, or $5 to park outside the park and walk in, but you can tell the state park puts the money to good use. This has to be one of the cleanest trails I’ve seen. There aren’t too many tactical areas. I went counter clockwise at the loop, so going down the incline back to the trailhead was rather rocky and steep. I almost fell at one point, but it was only for a short stretch.

Great trail so close to Denver. Hiked a week ago and got into some snow near first lake. Can't wait to go back next summer or when I get some snow shoes!

There are rattlesnakes so be careful, but don't miss out! This is a great workout for people looking to improve beginner hiking skills. Lots of great views, really cool area for rock climbers, and a little history hidden on the trail.

This was a beautiful hike that had a ton of snow today. It was a gorgeous day out and I cannot wait to do this hike again. Heads up, the road to the trailhead was snowed in and we had to walk the rest of the way.

I would have liked to pick up the pace to get a better workout in, but the trail was pretty crowded (granted, it was midday on a Saturday.) Overall it was a nice trail, great views at the top, and fun to watch climbers on the opposite rock face. My friends and I maintained regular conversation without much huffing and puffing and there were plenty of kids on the trail, so I’m not sure if deserves a “moderate” categorization, but it was a great outing for sure. Saw some cool birds, too!
