First time doing this one. Beautiful views of the front range. Geography. With the homie Lo & Ra. Although, it’s a week day in early afternoon and was extremely busy.. don’t think I’ll be back here unless for Leisure.

My first real “hike” in Colorado. At the start of the trail I saw so much dog poop. I am glad it wasn’t all over the trail. Once you head up in elevation the pine trees start appearing. So scenic. The waterfall was frozen but I bet in the spring it’s stunning. I’ll be back.

This is my favorite close by hike ❤️

Beautiful views by the reservoir

Pretty and very quiet hike after getting off the Staunton ranch portion of the trail. Didn’t need spikes, trail was quite easy and marked clearly. Some nice views and beautiful trees throughout. The best views, in my opinion, were on the return route on Scout line trail. Saw several good sized bucks on SR, about half a mile from the trailhead. Did 11 miles total in 4 hrs + a few minutes. Route I took out was trailhead to SR - BE - CR - EF then on the return route: EF - CR - MP - SL (most scenic view portion) - SR to trailhead. Not too bad of a hike.

Great hike minimal parking. Try to go on a weekday, weekends are very packed. Easy To hard trails. Very beautiful. Bikers can be rude be aware.

Hiked to Lake Dorothy up the Arapahoe pass on Sept 17, 2018. A beautiful day, we arrived at the trail head at 8:30 AM and were able to find a legal parking space just down the hill from the camping area. We only saw 5 other hikers the entire trip; one woman coming down, two college men who passed us on the way up and three people going up on our way down.
Very windy at the lake, The "shelter" at the the lake is little more than an organized pile of rocks that is too short to protect you from the wind. The Arapahoe trail was protected from the wind, and the sunny south exposure was very pleasant. Completed the 7.6 mile round trip in a little less than 4 hours with a lunch break at the lake.

Snowshoed up to Heart Lake on Sunday December30th. The trail was broken all the way to the lake and easy to follow. A little wind when we got out of the trees but wasn’t to bad. Love this trail in the winter and the summer!!!

Easy hike! Only some patches of ice but I was fine without crampons. Super clean trail & easy trail to follow thats offleash for the pups!

Loved it. Great hike from beginning to end. Some icy patches, glad I had crampons on my bag. Next time, I’ll pack a lunch to enjoy along with the view from the top.

Awesome trail for hiking running or nature walking with your dog. Yesterday was very cold, came back with freezing hands and face. hand warmer and a scarf would it helped. Beautiful views specially when you get to the dam.

Excellent views; great introduction to Fort Collins.

Great place to hike with the dog off leash. Crampons would have been useful today (mid December) at the higher elevation but we were okay without them. Recommend to dog owners.

This was our first time to hike Horsetooth and it was beautiful. I took my 7 and 10 year old and we all made it to the top with no issues. There are a few slick spots along the way but we easily navigated around them. Views from the top are beautiful and I’ll be back for sure

Snowshoed on 11/22. 8 mile dirt road to the trailhead was clear and I was able to slowly make it in a sedan but 4x4 would make it easier and quicker. Snow covered forest for the majority of the hike wad well packed and don't need snowshoes until you are about a mile or so out from the lake. I decided to make it up to the Continental divide trail but it was very slow going and frustrating to gain ground. can't recommend enough as the 360 view from the top had been one of my favorites. Push yourself that last mile up and you won't be disappointed. Even found some cell signal up there!

not sure what the previous post is talking about, this is not a 4x4 trail. Trail navigation is difficult in the snow there were many who turned back because the popular trail is a dead end near the lakes. I did make it to the lakes, but, I had to bushwhack through deep snow with snowshoes. I tried the pack the route on my way out so that others could find the way. good luck!

I love this place

Awesome hike with stunning mountain views, wildflowers, and a beautiful lake. Perfect for a single day hike. Get there early for parking when the weather is nice.

Beautiful and secluded. Need spikes for the upper loop part.

This was a great hike. It was so icy and hard to navigate. I will definitely go back when it gets warmer.

Great views! Currently the trail is a little icy and snow packed. We got through just fine without spikes, but they certainly would have helped.

Great way to burn some calories on Thanksgiving. A decent portion if this hike is on a gravel road but it was beautiful thoughout. Lovely views and some moderately challenging elevation change. Some parts were quite icy today but we were careful and fall-free without krampons.

Great hike, snowy but very accessible.

Our family of six hiked to the Overlook & back today. Beautiful weather the day before Thanksgiving & landscape, but trails were a bit muddy and there’s some steep stairs. I made sure my kids got up alright, then tripped myself. Whoops! Trails were busy with people of all ages and lots of pups along the way!

Stunning views of the peaks all around. Pretty lakes below. Perfect distance for a great day hike.

As of October 28, the road up was perfectly clear, and the route has some snow and ice on it, but doable, especially if you have trax or poles. The wind on the pass was crazy, probably 70 mph-- enough to knock you off your feet if you're not bracing yourself. That and the snow on the other side kept us from going any further than the pass, but it was well worth just being on top. Great hike.

Gorgeous trail summer and winter. well traveled so snowshoes are not really necessary till the last mile or so. the winds are strong by the lake so they cover the tracks of others quickly. Veer NorthEast(right) as you climb and you'll get to the clearing. After that's it's just a few hundred feet to the lake.

Beautiful hike.

This is a really great day hike if you live nearby and are off to a late start for the day. We came from neighboring Longmont and started the hike around 3. Got back to the car right after the sun went down. The creek is beautiful and it's really cool to see some local infrastructure at work. I highly recommend this hike.
