While there are some confusing areas along the trail, it's great for an easy yet long hike, and while it's close to 101W and Bedford, it's a quiet and serene getaway! Great for dogs.

hiked this morning, beautiful with all the ice and snow on the water

Apart from super high water levels, this is a great trail to walk on during the spring, summer, and fall! I will say that there is quite a bit of ice during the winter months.

Definitely a tough hike, but such a fantastic and fun trail. Be prepared for plenty of quick elevation gains. The views once you get above the tree line are awesome! Coming back down can be a challenge if there's wet rocks. Can take anywhere from 2.5 to 4 hours from trailhead to summit depending on your pace.

Went for an easy hike with my dog. He loved it. The water was high because of all the rain so we couldn’t make it past a certain part of the trail where the river had come up. Beautiful and easy though.

Went with a group of 11 people. It wasn't an easy hike for some of us, but we all made it to the top regardless. Very steep in the beginning, but flat at the lake. Beautiful trails, especially with the foliage. The cabin at the top really made for an awesome experience. Bring cash so you can enjoy a hot coco or tea! Not to mention the fresh baked cookies!! Using a pole or stick is highly recommended, especially on the way down. It rained, hailed, and snowed on us, but it was still a great time.

Just finished before lunch beautiful lake , trail was slippery definitely use your poles makes it easier especially on the way down

Climbed this last Fri. The climb up was moderate to hard for about a mile. I'm not in the best shape at 63, but felt o.k. at the top. Full sunshine but probably a bit below freezing when we arrived at the partially frozen lake. The views were stunning, as there was 4-5 inches of snow on the ground. Mt Lafayette covered in snow. All I could say was praise God for His creation. The hut was really nice. Coming down was tricky, some snow and ice on trail. Poles a must.

Great day, slow hike but totally enjoyed it. Only 2nd hike in 30 years!

Beautiful, relaxing, scenic walk. Short and easy.

Well maintained and a fun moderate trail to do!

Amazing. Rough going up, super easy coming down. The view at the top is worth it.

We parked right off the side of 101. Awesome trail. We saw a lot of cool fungi and trees. We were able to see woodpeckers, which was a huge bonus! Awesome spot for photography. The dam was so fascinating to see. Highly recommend this trail. It is a little muddy but it's a fairly easy walk.

The high elevation is moderate to climb for sure but the lake at the center of the mountain is breathtaking and the loop around the lake is a nice break with level ground walking across wooden boards. At a fork parkway around the loop we took a right instead of a left around the lake, do not do that! It turns into a hard hike with high elevations. We turned around when the air got thin. Just keep left following the signs to the hut. Our little dog was with us and he loved every minute of this hike just as much as my boyfriend and I did.

Some heavy breathing going up rocks but moderately easy and well maintained, we even ended up coming down an off path water runoff and landed back on one of the cannon trails

The reviews about this trail are pretty fair. Sharing my different experience: The weather forecast for our hike showed rain. It started raining as soon as we got to the lake, so we spent lunchtime in the hut. The lake was completely covered in clouds about half an hour later. We were happy to have seen the lake before the clouds rolled in, because we couldn’t see anything by the time we left!

really nice and peaceful spot... wish I lived closer to come back more often!

I’d rate it a harder moderate due to the rocky nature going up in the second half, but it’s so worth it making it to the top. Lake is serene and beautiful, views are fantastic and the hut is a great place to stop for a rest and snack.

Easy ~2 miles with pretty falls vista about halfway. Mostly in the shade and flat. Trail markers don't always align with the path All Trails lined out, but this isn't long or confusing enough that you could really get lost.

Nice hike! Took about 2 hours to walk both ways. Scenic view and a decent beginner trail.

Great trail well traveled and fun to hike , the hut at the top on the lake is perfect for having lunch before continuing on. The ducks are so friendly on the lake and the views are so gorgeous especially in fall !

did this hike today with my 5 month old puppy, what a great hike. beautiful falls at the top and enjoyed friendly fellow hikers on our trek.

Beautiful scenery with nice waterfall.

We did this trail today and lost a navy blue sweatshirt that says SJP soccer. If you find it please email me. Thanks! LUSKCT@gmail.com

Beautiful peaceful hike along the falls, colors spectacular. Bridal Veil Falls a bit fogged in but still able to see the top of falls through the breaks in the fog

I LOVED IT HERE!!!! Paths are not very clearly marked and someone left notes on the trail to follow. I LOVED maneuvering across, up and down the large granite rocks that are best vantage points. A couple steep parts but nothing overwhelming. Such a find so close to home.

This is a nice short trail. Good for kids. Some areas are not clearly marked. Well, really only one area where we weren't sure which way to go, but we figured it out and enjoyed the beautiful view of the water. Peaceful.

This is a State Park which caters to many activities and that is good, certainly. On the other hand, if you are hiking and look for some solitude there are better options, eg Pawtuckaway SP not far away. Too many mountain bikers on the trails.
No complaint, mountain bikers need to be able to do their sports as well and I support this, as I am cycling too (road) but for hiking folks there are better places....
Just my 5 cents worth.

Nice trails with a few steeper areas. The waterfalls where bigger and stronger than I thought they’d be. Part of the trail is close to the Everett so there’s some traffic noise, but that won’t stop me from returning.
