Super litty views, and all you need is a good pair of grippy hiking shoes! Cleats are a bonus if you have them during the winter season, but not really needed if you’re a balance master. I definitely recommend this hike to anyone looking for an adventure, you don’t have to be a super advanced hiker either. Don’t forget to bring plenty of layers, face protection, gloves, sunglasses, and a toque for the crazy wind up top!

Cheers!

Nice ebbs and flows. Took about an hour 45 to get up. Gondola is free down until May. Unfortunately pure fog when I went so no views but great hike.

Great and easy little hike with stunning views. Recommend microspikes during this time of year.

Nice little trail. Good for beginner hikers. Did this in apr/18 snow was pretty slushy and packed spikes and poles are your best friend. Just be mindful at the loop I found some rather fresh and big grizzly tracks. Mom and cub it looked like.

Enjoyable and Beautiful hike!!

Worth the trip. Amazing views once it opens up after the switch backs. Brilliant!!!

Switchback style trail with a few views of the Vally as you go up. Brilliant views once you summit. It’s a treat that you can grab coffee and a snack at the gondola facility.

Nice little hike with nice view over Lake Minnewanka. I'd suggest doing the cascade mountain scramble instead, but this is much shorter so if time is a factor, go for it!

Just finished this trail for the first time (April 14, 2018). It took me a total of 2.5 hours, however I ran down most of the way. Nicely packed snow all the way up and a very easy to follow trail. Highly recommend crampons or some sort of traction on your feet.. trail was completed covered in packed snow and ice beneath. I saw some hikers without any traction on their feet and I was surprised.. not sure if they made it to the top or not. Blizzard 80% of the way up, however once I got past the tree line the sun started to peak through!! Stunning 360 degree views at the top and well worth the steep incline! Very windy past the tree line, so make sure to bring lots of layers. One of my favourite hikes to date! Amazing.

Great hike for today, but it was really icy, so take cleats with you!

Steep hike but really worth it. It took us a bit less than 2 hours up and about the same down again. We wore small cleats (not proper crampons) and found it a little slippery in places but easily doable. Gets great sunshine most of the day but pack a windproof layer for the summit as the wind is fierce!

We did this trail Saturday March 31/18.
Trail is pretty steep going up but doable.
We had our ice cleats but we would have preferred to have something a little more extreme as it was pretty slick on the way down.
The views up top were breathtaking.
Definitely worth the effort.

it’s a good winter hike, we started 1335 today and we reached the false summit 1609 and add another 15 mins to 20 mins hike to the true summit. this is our first winter hike for 2018 with my close friend and my partner. And it’s challenging but were on full gear lol we have our spikes for our shoes and hiking sticks. it is indeed a moderate hiking trail. once you reach the top, you’ll see amazing views of the mountains during winter and you’ll see the famous banff fairmont hotel.

loved this trail easy for kids and great scenery and pics

Great hike I always take the harder route but my 10 year old kept up stunning views

I did this one late in my hiking career, and expected a pretty boring, easy, and crowded hike.
Mostly correct. There are however still a few views that are alright and the ponds are actually pretty cool.
The green and reflection I guess, but still so many people layin all around them.
Once is enough

My first ever summit! So much fun in the snow. Slid down on our butts for half of the way down

It was a short and fairly easy trail, great for snowshoeing (do not need snowshoes, but definitely helps near the end of the trail). Only 2 view points, didn't last long and were not great.

One of my favorite trails thus far. It requires a good push as most of the trail is on an incline. The view from the top is incredibly spectacular and beyond worth the struggle towards the peak.

We are not avid hikers and we still managed to complete the trail close to an hour and a half. It is so worth it!!!

We wore crampons and wished we had brought poles as well. However, we were hiking on a fresh batch of snow so poles are probably not needed when the path is beat down.

The weather at the top is quite chilly. We encountered a swift wind as we left the tree line to reach the peak. Prepare accordingly!

Absolutely amazing 360degree views from the peak! Great hike!!

Okay little hike but more vertical than we were hoping for on an “easy” walk. The loop isn’t fully open so it’s just an in and out right now. Crampons or poles definitely needed with the hard packed and slippery snow. Super close to Canmore which was convenient. All dogs were leashes too which was nice.

Easy hike but definitely need crampons in the spring. If you are lucky enough to go before the summer when the tourists hit you may have the place completely to yourself! Other than the howling wolves it was majestic :)

for a newbie hiker it was a bit daunting, we started at 4:30pm and thought we'd have enough time but it started getting dark before we got to the loop at the end. the views were worth it but the amount of snow made it a bit dangerous, the path had been completely snowed over in some parts so it walked alongside some of the bridges instead of on them. beautiful scenery but take care and allow for a lot more time than we did if you're doing this in the winter. like most have said the first 5km was very easy though, basically just a stroll.

We snowshoed along this trail yesterday - the snow is not too deep but they helped on a couple of steeper parts on the back loop. The river walk has a nice view and the view at the top is great. The canyon itself is definitely worth doing - we went counterclockwise up the hill and would recommend going that way.

Always love this hike in the fall but this was the first winter attempt and it was stunning. Lots of elevation over a short distance but the trail is well kept and easy to follow due to its popularity.

We had a south western wind so it got a bit unpleasant out of the treeline but it’s not far from the treeline to the peak. The winds made it so cold up there my iphone wouldn’t work, sapped the battery in about 2 minutes of photos. I’d recommend tech gloves, face masks and a charger pack to anyone else looking for some great shots at the top.

We wore spikes (small ones) and used poles and that was plenty of grip and stability. Otherwise it was a fantastic sunny day and a beauty of a mountain.

nice and short hike for our first in Banff, great views along the way and nothing difficult to encounter on the way. cleats made a huge difference because the packed snow trail was a bit slippery without them.

Easy hike for beginners!!

Nice and easy. It is worth the view.

Great little hike with fantastic views! Short & easy, and seems to be a popular trail as there were lots of people.

Such a rewarding hike.
