Started at the Powissett entrance and walked on a few of the marked and unmarked trails. Definitely coming back - trails well maintained, dog friendly, very nice area. Parking is a little tight in that lot.

FANTASTIC hike!!! moderate but totally doable for even a beginner. it does get steep towards the top, just take your time. we went up stone house trail. the rattlesnake pool and gorge are worth a stop - so majestic and beautiful! the view from the top is one of the best. warning: the trails are NOT well marked. if it wasn’t for this app and a hiker we passed, we would have been plenty lost. the lookout at the top was almost impossible to find. thinking it may be easier to navigate when all the snow melts. the trails were very slippery - lots of wet leaves - just be careful. our pup loved this hike! happy trails!

Lots of fun if you don’t mind climbing some steep sections with the help of iron rungs, and a couple of precarious sections along a cliff face. Great views all around.

Nice easy trail, scenic.

Less of a hike and more of a climb. Lots of iron rungs with short horizontal ledges between. Lots of fun, but not one to do if you have a fear of heights.

the hike up was crazy, I can't say I've seen anything like it. a few moments had me pause and realize the vertical drop off the trail might be deadly but all the more excitement. the view at the top can not be beat! also the hike back is a lot easier.

Hiked in April of 2016. amazing views all the way up. theres a dip in elevation between peaks so be aware. took about 2 and a half up. Great hike.

Such a fun trail! Despite the short mileage, the “hard” rating is fair, as this hike is truly “nearly vertical.” Would not recommend this one on a wet or windy day. With that being said, the views are incredible, and the hike is awesome. Just did this one yesterday (4/3/18) and there was no snow or ice on the climb up, just a little snow in the woods on the way back down. Highly recommend!

Really fun trail, great summit views, and not many people compared to comparable trails elsewhere in the Whites. Really underrated hike.

FYI trail is closed . April 1st - May either 1st or 31st , we drove over and hour and 1/2 to find this out. We were there yesterday which was March 31st and it was closed !

One of my favorite hikes in Acadia. If hiking in the busy summer season I encourage you to go early in the day to avoid the crowds. If you are afraid of heights your going to want to take your time and not feel rushed. The views of sand beach are spectacular.

Your legs will burn. But it is so worth it!!! This is the first "true" hike I did! I was supposed to do it with my bro, but at the last minute, his job called him, so I went alone! What an adventure it was! Who could have known that it was only the beginning of a bigger adventure! Two years later, I was in Nepal facing the Mt Everest!

Amazing views and worth it. Metal bars as holds in the steeper traverses and a well marked path guiding you to the summit are very helpful.

This is great hike for kids & adults. Views are awesome!
Parking can be tricky on busy days.

Fun hike - includes a lot of steep climbs using metal bars fixed in the rocks. About 30 minutes each way

I highly recommend doing this trail it has amazing views and is by far worth it.

Went on this trail a few years ago.
Had a great time and can't wait to do it again :)

The views were spectacular! I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who is afraid of heights. You'll be climbing and walking on trails where you can look over the edge and think: "If I fell right here, I would not survive". With that said, there is no reason you should fall unless you're doing something dumb. ;)

Amazing views and steep climbs, but pretty short.

I completed this hike in October. I’ve never seen such a beautiful colors...or stunning views of New England fall foliage before this. The loop is challenging, but rewarding. Do this as an in and out if you want to avoid very steep climbs and a chimney climb. Not for the faint of heart.

Amazing, beautiful hike! Very ICY! Take proper precautions

The views are incredible. Be advised that currently on the southwest trail it’s slabs on slabs of ice. You will want micro spikes for sure. Great challenge though. Definitely going back

Great hike/climb, definitely one of the harder trails in Acadia.

Absolute must hike if you are planning a trip to Acadia. If you can climb a ladder or steep staircase you MUST do the beehive.

A hair raiser but excellent hike. Only do this one in good weather.

Loved this hike! Lots of well marked trails with scenic views. The peak view was pretty awesome, especially for such a low altitude, and included the Boston Skyline. There was even a decorated Christmas tree at the top. Sweet surprise.

hiked this trail in early august and it kicked my butt!! it was a tough hike and we got a bit lost along the way, but the rattlesnake pool was an amazing way to cool off and it was a great workout. also - BRING BUG SPRAY! we practically got eaten alive on this hike!

My favorite hike in Maine! Good mix of terrain and amazing views!

There were a few parts that were fun, maybe because of the wee ones with us. All very doable, it’s was foggy and slick when we hiked it and all made it up no problems with the rungs.
Beautiful views and pictures. Found a great painted rock ‘Kilroy was here’ left by a group from PA who paint rocks and leave them as souvenirs

Great ponds, so pretty and interesting terrain. Doggie heaven. Blue trail is my fav, adding yellow trail for a hike to
The peak.
Take a map, it's easy to get confused with all the trails. Fairly well traveled so no worries
