Went on 1/15. Not too many people, made my own route to make it longer and went to the top of Mt. Falcon. With the snow it was definitely a decent workout! Snow was packed, no need for spikes or poles.

Perfect. Yak tracks or microspikes help but not required.

My friend and I snowshoed this trail yesterday and I was so pretty in the winter! Just outside Denver, it’s a perfect day hike. Views were a little limited due to the cloud coverage, but still so beautiful. The last mile was a little tougher in the snowshoes due to the elevation gain being all at the end (depending on what direction you start), but we made it and loved it! I’d like to try it in the summer months!

Went on a fresh snow day. It was stunning great views wildlife and moderate traffic. Under the snow there was packed ice but the drag snow kept the walk stable without having to wear spikes. Snowshoeers were out and about. I’d definitely do it again!

Beautiful formations and quite low-key.

Drove the hour + from Denver to check this place out. Very cool rock formations, some of which are very delicate. More delicate than they look. Spectacular colors and crevasses.

Was sad and upsetting and actually nauseating to see a large group of tourists going off trail, climbing all over the rock formations. With Absolutely no regard to the signs prohibiting climbing. Absolutely no regard for the delicate formations, some of which are just clay and literally shatters off the sides. This place won't be around much longer with such disrespect for the rock formations happening daily it seems, so catch it while you can (on the path, not on the rocks).

Absolutely stunning! The hike is still pretty much dry, any hiking boots were fine. Just a few small patches of snow. This hike has SO many amazing views at each and every turn. Highly recommend for an easy day hike.

I took Parmalee Trail to Tower trail to the top of mount falcon which was about 3 miles to the top.

As said earlier, parking fills up quickly. I got there around 1030 and there were spots but by the time I finished around 1 there was nothing.

Beautiful easily accessible snowshoe trail. Went midday on a perfectly sunny day with my mom. We took the uphill portion to the hut slowly but enjoyed coming up through the pine forest and then finding views closer to the hut. Trail easy to follow. Only saw a few other snowshoe groups on the way up and then a handful of people at the hut backcountry skiing. We didn’t much past the hut but trail continued to be well designated. Highly recommend.

A nice way to spend a couple hours in the afternoon. The dog loved it. Crampons not needed unless you intend to see the cave but otherwise it was fine with just my old hikers.

Fairly easy loop with good views. Mount Falcon gets very busy, especially on weekends. So parking becomes an issue if you get there during peak times. The earlier the better.

Good cardio hike near Denver. "Castle" is a bit of interesting history.

Hiked 12.30.18. Good hike after about the first mile or so, you can hear a lot of traffic and noise which isn't super pleasant. After about a mile it gets quiet. We brought snowshoes but only needed our microtraxs. After about a mile and a half the snow was less packed and snowshoes would have been useful, however, the trail is very narrow and I think it would have been difficult to use snowshoes. Anyway, it's a good little hike.

Well marked and nice scenery. Keep watch for cyclists.

Upper bowls were nice skiing. Skinned all the way up. The drainage is nice skiing all the way down.

This is a beautiful trail that isn’t that difficult. We went all the way to the top right before you climb to get to the cave, and decided not to climb it. Not worth it for me since the people coming down said it was icy. There wasn’t much snow or ice on the rest of the trail on 12/29.

Really fun trail that has some intense inclines. The payoff at the end at Malloy cave is worth the effort.

We went on Christmas Day as a family hike. We forgot our snowshoes but we’re still able to walk it. My parents felt there was a lot of up, but it’s worth it!! In the snow it took us 1 hour 45 minutes to get up. It only took 45 minutes to get down. We stopped frequently to get pictures and catch our breath.

Overall a beautiful hike and the falls are absolutely gorgeous! They were frozen over and it was spectacular to see.

Amazing views of Denver as well as other mountains in the distance. There were a few people on the trail (We went Christmas Day). There was ice, so please prepare accordingly. This was my wife and my first moderate trail since moving to Colorado. It can be challenging, but it isn’t too bad if you go prepared with water, snacks, and shoes for the ice.

super fun, short snowshoeing trek! we saw an amazing sunset!

This was a nice, moderately trafficked trail.
It was just the right amount of difficulty and ease.
Aside from Mallory Cave, there are a bunch of different trail systems at this open space.

Excellent trail! We loved it! My first time snowshoeing. The trail was well marked and very scenic.

Snowshoes to the top today, great conditions!

We snowshoed up to Broome Hut on 12/1/18. The trail was well packed for the first half mile. Someone went up without snowshoes and was post-holing which messed up the trail. It took us 1.5 hours to get to the hut and 30 minutes to get back down.

There were a handful of people at the hut. It was great to stop and have a snack before heading down. We'll be back to continue the hike up to Twin Cones.

I’ve hiked this trail multiple times. Was virtually empty today. You do need micro spikes to stay safe on the ice.

Fun little hike. Great views nice weather.

Beautiful views on this trail! There is lots of ice on it right now but many ways to walk around it.

Perfect for snowshoeing! We only made it up to the hut due to strong winds and snow. But is about a mile in. Snow shoes and even ski googles are needed if you want to summit.

BE CAREFUL at this point. Mt Falcon trail (Castle Trail) is ok except for maybe 300’ of ice.

Returning on Turkey Trot, or going up Turkey Trot, involves thousands of feet (45 minutes) of hardpacked glass ice, even hard to manage in yak tracks.
