A great trail took my three kids on it. My youngest (2 y.o.) was able to complete the hike. However, I would caution any family taking a youngster that age, my 2 y.o. was exhausted climbing the steep rocks and wanted to be carried back down the steep rocks (talk about scary). It is kid friendly but I suggest school aged children. I also suggest to avoid when there is snow on the sloped rocks, there was a lot of near falls. All around a beautiful trail!!

My dingy Ford Taurus made it up the 3 mike drive. We went in mid December, and the Waterfall was gorgeous. It was frozen over and tucked in a slot canyon. Completely worth the drive and short hike.

Wonderful 360 view at the top. Would be a great place to star gaze and watch the sunset.

Took about an hour to get to the top. 50 min to get back.

Really enjoyed this hike, new views of the Blue Mesa.

a lot easier to come from the south than the north, directions were suspect. but we made it, few bucks a person. just a view of the plains in the distance, not much elevation change. few buffalo herds way in the distance.

Great little place! It’s smaller then you think but still beautiful!

Pretty. Easy. The caves were pretty awesome and the view from the top of the falls is beautiful.

Easy trail with great payoff taking you up near the base of the pinnacles. Hardly anyone on the trail in mid-November. This will definitely be a place I take visiting friends and family who are not used to higher elevation.

Nice terrain and some good views. You get to the trail by walking directly out of the back door of the visitors center. Not difficult by any means, but I felt the path was a little unclear. Not as many markers to keep you in the right direction like many of the other trails at the national monument.

Fun hike. Nice for beginners as it offers at least a bit of a challenge. Beautiful views.

Easy hike; great views. Got off trail tho....will have to go back!

Best short hike I’ve ever done. Don’t worry about getting lost. You are always able to see the visitors center from the dunes.

Very scenic hike with great views of the lakes, pinnacles and snow capped mountains (from the top). Easy to find trailhead right off Hwy 50.

After driving 6 plus hours to get there, it definitely was a good trail to stretch not only the legs but the entire body on! Such a fun trail!

Great drive

we definitely got lost through here. and I mean LOST! make sure you follow the cairns and stick to the right. we ended up following a seemingly obvious path only to find ourselves climbing over boulders on the edge of a cliff... pretty wicked views though! if we wouldn't have taken that detour, it would have been a super easy and neat walk. highly recommend!

Not bad, good for a short hike and time in nature. Good for families and dogs. Pretty busy on a Saturday, by the time my group left at 11am the parking lot was packed and many people heading out to the trails. I liked this and would be a good hike for my small dog.

A gorgeous place to visit but they don't allow dogs any more. Which is kind of ridiculous. So only two stars.

I did this trail and tracked it on my Fitbit, I knew my Fitbit would track the distance a little less than what the distance really is from my experience but it was a little more than six miles one way to Lake Verna from the East trailhead. It was totally worth it but I’m not sure what everyone is smoking to think it’s 12.9 round trip. I was tracking at least 15 Miles total. The sign at the trailhead can not be accurate unless it’s tracking the river that comes from the lake, before you actually get to the huge lake. We didn’t see any wild life and we were the only ones on the trail for a few hours. We started around 8:30am and arrived at 1:30pm. We headed back at 2:00pm and got to the parking lot around 5:30pm. It was beautiful but don’t underestimate the distance and the amount of hills that are required to climb to get to the lake.

I went at the beginning of October. There was little traffic and the weather was very cooperative. Lots of amazing views!

Absolutely beautiful drive with stunning views, especially at the top. I drove with my windows down and was disappointed in the smell from all the car fumes.Alot of traffic so go during the week and early.

Was very frustrated today by the people walking all over the formations despite the many signs that ask you not to. If you can't show some respect for Earth's beauty, please don't bother to come visit it. You're slowly destroying these beautiful features, and now all the rest of us have to look at the footprints you left and the erosion you caused rather than the natural beauty of the Paint Mines.

Great little hike! The drive up is rough gravel but there’s a Honda Accord that made it up here in dry conditions (early October).

We went right at the fork at the beginning, and because it had rained that day, the steep descent was a little nerve wracking. Wish we had gone left to start. Not a trail if someone has any fear of heights, as the trail is narrow and right on the edge of the canyon/hill many places. We loved it! Fantastic canyon views, as well as an aspen grove right up against the rock wall.
