Awesome views!

Trail was in great shape. Parts of the trail were technical and def need a well equipped vehicle to make the boulder field and few other rock sections. First time on the trail and will make sure I hit it again the next time I’m in Denver! Drove a 2014 JKU with 3in rock krawler lift and 35’s.

Great drive. Was not expecting all the rocks coming down from Animas Fork. Definitely chastity scrapping in some areas. Other than that my Jeep Wrangler did great! We had a blast and spent all day on the Alpine Trail.

Easy drive and beautiful views. I haven't seen any reviews mentioning the NARROW ROAD. So be aware the road is very narrow in some areas with room for only one vehicle at a time and not a lot of space to pull off. Because we were unaware of the narrowness of it we drove up in our Raptor which is WIDE. Not very many courteous people drive through there and most don't have road etiquette and didn't even attempt to make room even though WE were on the cliff side. Other than that the ride was beautiful and we saw the beautiful Fall Aspens.

Very easy trail, heavy foot traffic. A little bouncy, but good for any 4 wheel drive vehicle. We decided to hike to the upper lakes, and the views did not disappoint. This is a very good family outing!

Been doing this trail for years. Rough and smooth riding at times. Continued to the Rockhouse via different trail. Take map, numerous trails intersect.

I usually drive this road several times a year, but Autumn eye-candy is always the best. Heads-up folks - the conditions in the high country are soo dry that with everyone on the road, kicking up dust, visibility was extremely poor. There were many sections were I couldn't even take a pic because of how thick the dust was. My advice, go really early in the morning. Even later in the evening is busy.

2nd time I finally found the right trail! turn left at the 2nd turn off past the leavick parking lot. we parked where the road forked and hiked. about .75 miles into the hike you'll see Horseshoe. Just follow the road/trail. Lots of cool mining relics on the way. The lakes below look really pretty and coming back down we did see a Jeep but that was pretty much the 1st person my friend and I saw the entire hike. At the saddle between peerless and horseshoe the views are amazing and we climbed higher I'm not sure we made the "summit" but we we're well over 13,000ft and content. I would recommend it for how quiet it is compared to seeing the tons of cars/people headed to Sherman

it was fun until the road got to steep. I tried to do this in a can am 850 outlander but didn't make it to the end. ended up rolling the atv. it was still fun.

Great little trail, one of my favorites so far. I have a 2016 JK Rubicon with 3.5" lift and 35's. Quite an easy one with a couple fun challenges. I only saw a couple people on the trail all day. Leaves are changing and it was just a beautiful ride. Not very rocky at all. Didn't even air down.

Great trail. We did it East to West which meant that we went downhill on the West side of the summit and the rocky road. Had our 4x4 Tacoma in 4Lo and 1st gear crawling down the rocky slopes - no problem. Very nice views and spots for photos.

Meh - not worth the time. A couple spots had nice views of the valley below, but nothing spectacular. The road is very rocky and bumpy. After doing this trail I feel quite beaten up even with airing down the tires! I can agree that this trail should not be attempted when raining as there is 8 miles of clay/dirt road that would be very slick when wet. My advice, find another trail.

Pretty mild at first just zig zagging through the trees and some ruts to go through. Then once you get on 313 gets real fun and a little challenging for a stock vehicle. There is a trail that wasn’t on the map by the air force over look, so went and checked it out. The trail was pretty fun at first but then it gets real difficult at a rutted out turn between two trees, then goes onto being a steep v notched road that leads to a camp spot on a deadend. Probably not the best for the stock rig but made it none the less. But other than that sticking to the main trail on the map makes for a fun little trip, definitely again.

Awesome trail. We went up to the lakes area and explored a bit then headed over to the Gold King Basin trail which wasn't mentioned anywhere. It was totally worth while. The road was rocky and bumpy, but easily done in our 4X4 Tacoma and 4X4 4Runner. Had lunch at the end of the trail and were entertained with several chipmunks and woodchucks nearby. The views were gorgeous.

Super fun trail with some good obstacles but nothing crazy. Its a little tougher to run it the way it says here, but if you’re confident in your driving most stock vehicles with 4x4 and good clearance shouldn’t have any trouble. Otherwise just run it taking a right at the first fork. Most of the camping is on that side of the loop as well.
2018 tacoma off-road stock.

Great views of Breck. Aspen Trees and starting to turn gold. Directions on how to get to the trail head are not so good.

Did this with Atvs. Parked at the parking lot before you reach the trailhead. Busy on weekends but worth the trip!

Fun trail with some challenging obstacles. We had light rain at the first big obstacle, so winching was necessary for both of us. The Rock Garden was aptly named, and was a lot of fun to go through. The added bonus of the Aspens starting to change colors made it a great day. Bring your lockers and some ground clearance for this one.

Fun Drive, some tricky parts, aspens everywhere, beautiful views!

The views are incredible here. I did west to east.

On my way up 2 people had popped tires going east to west so I suggest driving slow! The first few miles were steep and knuckle clenching on the shelf. Basically climbing over large rocks. I have a 4x4 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo and we bottomed a few times and had to almost gun it to get out in a spot. I’ll post pics once back.

Once you pass the top you’re out of the rock scrambling, and as another user mentioned is minivan worthy.

short easy trail for off roading. beautiful sites.
