Well it was super icy today but it sure was easy if you have spikes on your shoes! Slippery for sure but if you’ve done it before you know to just keep pushing. If you haven’t done it before.. well, keep pushing! Beautiful fun tough work out. I always take the 1st and 2nd loop, i even took my parents from Texas in today and we finished it in 4 hours... beautiful in the snow if you ever wanna get it :)

Great hike. More challenging than I thought especially attempting it immediately upon arriving from the east coast. Well worth it once you get to the arch.

Great hike, but beware that it is very slippery and icy with the recent snow. I underestimated how slippery it would be on the way down and I fell several times. Definitely come prepared and watch the weather before you go!

Difficult but great view at the end!

There are many routes to the top! be aware when you finish the switch backs that run doing the creek there is a false summit. Go past the trail marker and you'll have to head down for a little bit before a short climb back up to reach the Arch.

Beautiful. Even with deep snow, the entirety of the hike was wonderful. Moose, Steller’s Jay and lost of views. Scrambled up the frozen waterfall to Lake of Glass, but the trail disappeared into chest-deep snow. Loch Vale was lovely too. Truly, we loved it all.

The reward at the end of this hike is so worth it. You get a 360 degree view! Breathtaking! The hike is moderate but if your not use to the altitude there are small spots that can be difficult. Rest take your time, enjoy the quiet and beauty along the way.

Possibly my favorite short hike in Colorado. Please stay on the trail and out of the water so we can keep this trail open.

Hanging Lake was stunning today! Rather steep and rocky but definitely worth the views all the way up. I am not super fit or out of shape (somewhere in the middle) and I was able to do it without too much difficulty. Bring water and snacks!
Also, be sure to see Spouting Rock! It’s a quick trail right before you reach the top of Hanging Lake. It’s a gorgeous waterfall you won’t want to miss!

Challenging for a recreational hiker & worth it - beautiful views, the arch did not disappoint!

The loop we followed was Chautauqua to Meadow to Gregory Canyon to Ranger to the summit of Green Mountain to E.M. Greenman to Saddle Rock to Gregory Canyon to Meadow - almost 10miles. Very strenuous on the way up, took almost four hours to summit - we are not from this altitude. Absolutely stunning and worth every grueling bit :)

Amazing trail very well worth it

At points it feels like endless scrambling through small, loose rocks. We joked that it was like hiking on the moon! Still a fun trail with pretty views at the end (although the views would be better if there was water in the lake!).

This was a beautiful hike with varying difficulty in the trail throughout and lots of beautiful views along the way. we didn't make it to glacier lake but lake Isabelle was great!

so rediculous that you must pay to hike. way better nature for free elsewhere.

My husband, friend, and I hiked this back in 4/2017. It was pretty much my first “real” mountain hike and will always be one of the most meaningful to me. I have a thing with heights but we made it to the tippy-top of the 2nd flatiron! If you’re planning on “celebrating” definitely wait until the top haha. Even if you’re not the most experienced hiker and it’s intimidating, go all the way - you won’t regret it. I definitely recommend appropriate footwear and gear (lots of water if you’re not used to the elevation)! We will be back!!!

Really beautiful hike with flowers and an amazing view, very well worth it. make sure to bring lots of water!!

Awesome hike. Trail is well traveled and moderately difficult in some areas.

Beautiful views! Went in early October and it was freezing. There was snow and ice on the trail which made it a little more difficult. In the end if you aren’t a master hiker, taking rest stops along the way to take in the sceneries will get you through it.

The slope was very steep but the lake was amazing!

Completed this hike on 10/6/18. Definitely a difficult, steep hike! We started at the upper cascade trail and completed the full hike in 3 hours (with plenty of stops for pictures and some time spend hanging out in the mine camp). Beautiful views of Ouray and surrounding mountains. I would highly recommend this trail if you’re looking for a great work out/shorter day hike.

We do a lot of hiking in Colorado, and for my entire family this is our favorite. It is extremely easy, and just shockingly beautiful the entire way. I can't think of a better place for a hike. We went on a Wednesday, arrived at the park about 7:05 in the morning, and there were only two parking places left. Arriving early and bug spray are both a must!

The arch itself is beautiful. But it is clearly not a trail that deserves a "hard" rating. Most of the hikers on this trail were in casual wear and made it to the top. We saw more than one woman carrying her purse and wearing flats. If you have the gumption and the time, you will make it to the top.

Great hike, but beware, October brings unpredictable weather. We just hiked this in rain, sleet, and snow. Beautiful views, and amazing colors!

Most beautiful hike I've even been on. The reward at the top is unbelieveable. I've never seen anything like it. The wildflowers were blooming like crazy when we went in the end of August. It was very difficult for us being from Nebraska due to the elevation but I would do it again!

One of the best trails I've ever been on in my life. All sorts of different scenic views and the grand finale of Sky Pond (after climbing a waterfall) to reward you for your hard work on the hike.

If you're looking for a challenging hike and some great exercise this is the hike for you! Unfortunately, when we reached the summit we had very limited visibility of the boulders - however, the hike as a whole was beautiful and there were a ton of yellow Aspens. The entire hike we only passed about 4 people total which also made this hike that much better.

What an amazing hike! This is the second time I have done this hike, the first being in January where everything was covered in snow. We arrived at the Glacier Gorge trail head around 730am and got one of the last parking spots despite the weather being not ideal. Guess a little snow doesnt stop anyone here. There were a lot of low hanging clouds and fog but it started to snow lightly as we got to the Loch. The little snow fall, no wind, and cloudy skies made for amazing scenery! The waterfall was flowing and as beautiful as it is in the summer. The best part of the hike is the waterfall scramble you have to do to get up to the lake of Glass is not frozen which made it so much easier. The Lake of Glass was incredible but dont stop there! Sky Pond was and is one of the most gorgeous sites in the park and probably the rockies. The Shark Teeth are even better from the top of the lake. There was a little wind but nothing that should stop anyone from hanging out and taking it in.
We went through the trail seeing very few people starting off the day but on our way down, the crowds really picked up. Always start as early as you can to really enjoy the park.

We were looking for a lake hike not far from our house and this looked like a good candidate. The Guanella pass road was still open so we took it, and then drove the Naylor Lake Road up to the upper parking lot, shaving about a mile off of the total distance of the trail. I'd highly recommend AWD or 4WD. We did it in our Jeep in 2WD but that road can get slick really quick. As we were driving through the Guanella pass road we realized that there was a light coating of snow at the top, and assumed that there would be a little snow up where we were headed, glad we packed warm. The hike was fairly easy, with a skim coat of ice on some of the areas where water came off the mountain and pooled in the low spots. We were glad that we had our trekking poles if only for a couple extra points of contact. About 2/3rds of the trail is above treeline and is exposed to the elements. The wind started to kick up fiercely as we made it to Silver Dollar lake and continued to Murray Reservoir. The views were obstructed somewhat from the low ceiling, but it was still worth the hike.

I'll have to come back sometime in the spring to check and see if there are any nice looking trout in those lakes!

Gorgeous views, different types of terrain on the way up. Lots of traffic for a reason. This is a must in the Boulder area even if once. The Flatirons are stunning. The ascent is steep at times, but it’s manageable even for this visitor from out of state.
