Our family of six hiked to the Overlook & back today. Beautiful weather the day before Thanksgiving & landscape, but trails were a bit muddy and there’s some steep stairs. I made sure my kids got up alright, then tripped myself. Whoops! Trails were busy with people of all ages and lots of pups along the way!

Lovely trail! Heavily used but everyone we met was well behaved and respectful, including the dogs! Was a nice escape from the stresses of dealing with a mom and her dementia. Took my doggo and enjoyed a good leg stretch. Nicely maintained and clean! Lovely views!

One of my favorites when I feel like going on more than a walk but don't have time for a long hike.

Awesome park!

One of the best overlooks at the canyon.

Short trail, stunning views. Fairly easy with a few steeper spots.

I have hiked this 3 or 4 times now. A nice stretch of the legs, this out and back trail has some beautiful views. Go early, especially in warmer months, and avoid the crowds. Large parking lot accommodates large horse trailers for those lucky folks who have a horse lifestyle. Dogs on leash.

Great ending.

After doing most the pullouts, I would say this is my favorite and had a great view of the canyon and river. Great place for watching the sunset.

A great view of the canyon, though the river is not as visible as others.

One of the best view points in the park.

fun stuff. beautiful views!

Good trail for all ages— 7 to 78 yr. We had lunch at the arch and rested on benches along the way. Very interesting rock formations and history was highlighted on story boards.

Fun. Fast. Flowy

Nice trail. Love it!

Great hike. Awesome views of both the canyon and the San Juan mountains. Easy hike, finished in about 30 minutes.

This trail renders a beautiful view just insure you are there at sunrise or sunset for the most beautiful views.

Fun hike! Good trails and some beautiful scenery up close and far away. Enjoyed the trail!

Although we didn't see the Warner Brothers and their sister Dot, we still enjoyed the hike out to Warner Point, which has great views of both the canyon and back towards the towns down the valley. Free informative pamphlets are available at the trailhead that talk about what your seeing along the way, like beautiful pinion pines, animal signs, and of course Black Canyon of the Gunnison. It's a little hilly in some spots, but I was fine just walking the trail in sandals. Be sure to stay hydrated if you go on a summer day!

August 18, mountain bikes the trail with my 13 year old. We loved the trail, absolutely beautiful and fun. We are from Michigan so this was definitely different than what we are use too. It was a blast and I would recommend it to anyone.

The trail itself was unremarkable, and there are better views of the canyon (Painted Wall, etc.) back towards the visitors center along the main road. BCOTGNP is definitely a views-based park, not a hiking one, but this didn’t feel worth it.

Nice trail close to town with rocks and nature. Very enjoyable.

Great views, easy hike, short and quick.

Love but be cautious of rattle snakes !

Great hike for all levels and ages of hikers. No shade. Be cautious of snakes. Hear they are there but in the numerous times I have been out there thankfully have only encountered one time. We stay on trail though. Its pretty heavily trafficked.

Nice easy hike with the kids to the best view on the south rim!

Went on a windy, cloudy morning before a thunderstorm and it was a magical experience. Definitely follow the ridges where the sand is more firm. The wind was blowing the sand around, making beautiful eddies but blasting our legs. Wear pants on a windy day (easy to say when it was cloudy) and stay on the windward side of the ridges.

Tips aside, one of the coolest things I’ve ever done, 100% recommend!!! The beauty was otherworldly. If you go beyond the first high dune ridge, all that you can see for miles are dunes and mountains.

Update: we went again the morning after a steady rain, and the sand was solid and cool to walk on. Perfect conditions for hiking, and the patterns that showed up were breathtaking. I walked barefoot in the dunes for hours with plenty of sunscreen and plenty of water.
