Pleasant meandering trail. I recommend taking the free gondola from the base to the second stop at Grand Lodge. It's a short walk from there to the trailhead. Hike down to the Shock Hill gondola stop and get back on the gondola to return to the base. This avoids walking on the confusing streets in that last segment down.

Lots of development and roads cross the trails. Dust abounds.

The first mile was OK but after that it is just cut down dead trees and not very pretty. We turned around after two miles in...kind of a disappointing hike. Maybe further in it gets better but not from what we could see.

Lovely stroll for kids and great views. But can get crowded.

CHIPMUNKS AT THE LOOK OUT VIEW!! They will come up and eat right out of your hands, they are all around. Beautiful view on the trail as well, short and easy! Definitely recommend! Take some black bird seed the chipmunks love that stuff! Or any nuts!

Super easy, well maintained, nice little bridges. Connected with the Nordic center trails and made it over to peak 8 adventure park. Dry @11:00 after rains last night and this am.

Much better than hiking up or down a ski hill like most of the tourists do while in town.

Perfect hike if you’re just 13 weeks post op from your ACL surgery! The leg coming out of Montezuma is more of a footpath....shady and forested vs segment leaving from the Peru Creek turnoff which is just a dirt road.

Very picturesque hike with great views of the reservoirs, mountains and town of Dillon. Great for a short hike

It was very crowded on a Saturday, so that is to be expected but the trail is pretty narrow. I had to keep wrangling my dog and atepping out of the way from people and other dogs. Also the chipmunks arent scared of people because they get fed so much but subsequently, they arent scared of the dog and will go right up to them and there were a couple times I was emotionally preparing myself for twenty people to watch my corgi carnage and cute little chipmunk. This didnt happen but if your dog is rodent obsessed this is not the trail for you. A dog in front of us barked non stop at them and they wouldnt flee so he just kept doing it. Also be prepared to be asked to take pictures of a lot of tourists. Great place for a hop out of the car and look at the views but I wouldnt hike again...

Absolutely stunning views!

It was a beautiful day for a great hike through the aspens and the lodgepole pine forest. We did not make it to the falls because they were working on building a new bridge. It was not a challenging hike but was a well marked path. To get to this trail head you take Royal Buffalo up to a Y in the road and stay right. You will be on a gravel road. At the top you take a right and it will take you to the trailhead at the end.

Great challenging trail with an awesome payoff at the end with the falls. Climbed some rocks near the falls to get a beautiful view from the top. Finished in about 4 hours with stopping, but didn’t see any wildlife.

Extremely easy and short loop, lots of cute chipmunks. Did it 18 weeks pregnant.

Awesome easy hike! My kids 2,4,6,8 loved feeding the chipmunks and requested we go back the next day. Grandparents loved the hike too! The views were amazing! Couple fun spots to stop for a picnic and my kids enjoyed the large shelter made of logs.

Our new favorite trail! Great for young kids because it’s short and easy. The views are amazing. We will bring family/friends to this trail when they come to visit us.

This was an easy mountain ascent with some great views. We were tempted to go beyond the Tenderfoot Trail and would have if we had started earlier. It took us about an hour to ascend, take some breaks to enjoy the awesome views, and give the pups some breaks. It was a mostly sunny hike and quite warm for July.

Easy hike for a beautiful view. There’s not a lot of shade so bring a hat.

Great for a quick walk or if you have small kids. One con is you can hear highway noise.

Awesome hike. Did feel the burning in the legs but well worth it. Trail was very well marked and easy to follow. My kiddos 7, 11,14 enjoyed it as well.

It was a very easy hike. The scene is so beautiful. This trail is for everyone.

Good hike, coming from NH it was easy to adjust to. The trail is easy to follow and there were only a few other hikers. Awesome view of Dillon!

Fun walk with our granddaughter! More houses and roads than we prefer but a nice trail

Very easy but great views!

Awesome little hike and very easy. Kiddos loved it.

Great views. The road is easy to miss to turn on to, a dirt road is what you should be on the look out for. Good trail for all ages from who all we saw on the trail.

Good early morning hike! Took our 8 month old grandchild with us. Pretty views and meadow had lots of flowers in bloom!

Did this hike on an overcast July morning and loved it. Not too strenuous with nice views. Nothing incredibly special, but still a nice little hike.
