Fun little hike. Great views nice weather.

Top 3 best hikes of my life, (1st being Kalalau trail and 2nd being grand Tetons valley). Beyond spectacular for photography enthusiasts, simple walk in the park with beauty worth capturing in every angle. Continue to crater lake after this short hike and your day will be filled the magic✨

Beautiful views, lots of people, easy hike.

Like said with previous reviews the scenic trail was closed but I had my skates with me so I put those bad boys on and took a few laps around the lake . Be careful there are some soft spots. 11/12/18

Went on 11/10 - scenic trail was closed but the lake is frozen and lots of people out playing hockey. Was fun to watch. Looked like other trails were open but very muddy/snowy. Sign said road will close 11/15

Excellent trail that is to be experienced in the fall. We were a couple weeks late to do this. However, the snow in the path made it a bit difficult to traverse. Took us 3 hours from car to car including the breaks and photography. Would highly recommend this trail during the fall season.

We went off season which was October 26th. At this time there is no having to use the shuttle to get up. You need to pay at the entry of the park which is $10 per car. We went about 930a and now issues finding parking. When we got done with the hike around 1p the parking lot was pretty full. We wanted to do an easy hike as my friend just flew in the day before from Minnesota. We were planning to do the easy trail called Maroon Bells scenic trail. This was closed so other only option from that trail was Crater Lake. This was a little more challenging then we were expecting. But it was a great. Lots of rocks and boulders to climb over. There was some areas with snow and ice but not too bad. But all worth as once we got the lake it was huge (though the water was low). Enough room to go by ourselves to have a snack without being next to anyone. Would come back to do this in another season to see all the aspens.

One of the most spectacular experiences one can have, especially in the fall!

Super easy hike. Gorgeous views!

Did this trail when the scenic loop was closed. It was steep until the end and snowy and rocky in spots. But for those of us in our party who made it, it’s was great.
The lake was not very full, but the scenery was great and the local birds are friendly!
For the part of our party who couldn’t make it to the top there was an opening with a amazing Mountain View about .75 miles in. A great place to call good enough if u have to.

Worthwhile! Great lunch spot followed by a rewarding and short walk. We didn’t make it to the end- just did the loop and still lots to see.

This trail was definitely hard! It is uphill the whole way up and continues to get steeper as you reach the top. The views are absolutely amazing. It got extremely cold and windy towards the last stretch of the trail so wear warm clothes! I would also recommend hiking boots and poles. There are some parts with gravel that were slippery. There was some snow up there but not a lot. Would definitely do it again!

We parked near the entrance to the amphitheater and came down the stairs on the right hand side and out to the trailhead. The sandstone rocks are incredible and are definitely the best part of the trek. The hike itself is fairly easy and the trail is pretty wide most of the way. If you’re visiting the amphitheater, go ahead and do this one.

loved this trail and views were spectacular!

Easy hike until the very top then a bit rocky. It was well worth it!!!

Decent trail but you have to hike 3/4 of a mile up the road to get to the trailhead and the lake at the end is full of people who just got in their car and drove there.

wow! just stunning! this trail itself doesn't run through the amphitheatre but if you veer off this trail, the amphitheatre is a short walk away. I am sort of a geological nerd so these rock formations had my jaw on the floor. such a wild and beautiful place! even in October, make sure you have plenty of water.

In my opinion, this trail is a lot harder than moderate for a relatively “in shape” adult. It is a steady incline the entire way to D.P. with some very steep portions that are rock/gravel. Trail is relatively easy to follow.

Of course, the views along the way are priceless and 100% worth the journey. Approximately 8-9 miles round trip, depending how much wandering you do once at the top. We averaged around 1 hour per mile. We are from Illinois and the altitude had our lungs working pretty hard!

Overall 4/5. Would try again with better preparation.

This hike was just spectacular when I got a chance to do it in June of 2017. Definitely doable for most anyone, though being from a town at sea level and having had only a day of acclimation slowed me down a little. The falls are so powerful and the spray so refreshing, really incredible, but the views are just as impressive as the falls on this trek. This part of Colorado is as good as it gets: the terrain is so varied, red sandstone cliffs to the west and snow-capped mountains that remind me of The Sound of Music to the east. I love Telluride so damn much. Next time I go I want to try and get further up the Wasatch Basin Trail.

Nice early morning hike before the sun got too hike. Lots of parking and easy trails.

NIce trek out to the falls this morning. In from Boston on a pleasure trip. A LOW comes in and drops some precipitation you will need snow shoes. Do it while you can.

Amazing trail. Bit rocky, but great!!!!!

At points it feels like endless scrambling through small, loose rocks. We joked that it was like hiking on the moon! Still a fun trail with pretty views at the end (although the views would be better if there was water in the lake!).

Really unique area to explore! Not a real hike but definitely still worth a stop.

Hike with the family. Had a bit of snow and slippery patches towards the top. View is good

It’s beautiful but a tourist zoo. Not saying I wasn’t one visiting the bells (from CO) but go before 8 or after 5 so you don’t have to take the bus or pay $8 a person if you already have a npks pass. Have to take the bus even if you have a dog. That was fun.

The bells we’re worth it but also tourists were playing football in front of the lake. Just keep in mind the time you go.

Beautiful views! Went in early October and it was freezing. There was snow and ice on the trail which made it a little more difficult. In the end if you aren’t a master hiker, taking rest stops along the way to take in the sceneries will get you through it.

Fine little walk around the rock formations. Can get pretty crowded.
