Beautiful day on the trail on 10/14. Lots of fresh powder came in overnight. Some areas were quite icy, but it was very manageable if you come prepared and aren't hiking in sneakers. We saw less than 10 people total during our 3 hours out. Views were limited by the snow clouds, but it was still spectacular!

Great hike with varying elevation gains and flats. As of 10/13/2018... I would recommend yak tracks. It’s very slippery and icy in the shade which is the majority of this hike

Fun & relatively easy trail! Also, don't miss Eden Valley Spur trail.

Stunning views. It's rated moderate, and had it not been for the snow and ice, it might have been. Us noob hikers didn't anticipate the conditions well (it had snowed lightly a few days prior), and it was difficult. With that said, it was worth the effort and we were afforded a view that you wouldn't get during the summer. Would love to do it again sans snow.

Steady climb. The views half-way up exceeded the actual lake view, but it was a nice hike with some icy stairs.

First 14 for us. It was a beautiful day but there was a lot of snow on the ground. It was slippery on the way down. We got an early start and beat the crowds. The trail was well marked and easy to follow. The trail starts out very easy and starting before sunrise was great. The elevation was a factor for us near the top, but it’s a great hike.

Great 14er with some amazing views. Best as a sunrise summit.

It was beautiful but very icy! The whole trail was nothing but ice. Need some yak tracks and hiking poles. Went on 10/12 and it was very crowded on the way back down. Worth the views but definitely would wait until the summer to do it again.

nice short hike

For someone from Indiana this was definitely more moderate than easy.

beautiful views on this hike. forests kept us cool.

Gorgeous views! The journey was through snow and ice for the entire hike. Would recommend traction and waterproof shoes. Sunny and clear Friday oct 12 when we hiked but very windy, especially at the edge of the lakes!

Beautiful hike as expected but extremely windy! We started around 8:30 and the parking lot was pretty empty. Def would recommend wearing micro spikes because a good portion of the trail is very icy and also waterproof shoes! The wind was blowing so hard at Dream Lake I was sliding across the ice! It was pretty with the snow but hard to see the mountains. The trial was very crowded on our way back down so still would recommend going early.

Enjoyable shortish day hike. Lake is SMALL. Views back over Estes Park and of RMNP and great!

Great climb. Went up 10/10/18, 3-6” of snow on the trail for the first 1.25miles. 1’ - 3’ feet! snow drifts from there on to the saddle. We were unable to make the peak due to conditions. Feet were soaked on the way down. 2hrs 50 mins up, 2hrs 10 mins down. Be smart. Be careful. We were the only car in the parking lot. Only ones out there.

It was pretty chilly, but still beautiful! Took us about 3 hours with a lot of photo stops. Unfortunately we couldn’t see much of the mountains, but we got some pretty amazing photos of snow-laden trees being reflected in the waters. It was by far the busiest trail that we did all weekend, I can’t imagine what it would be like during peak season! We went early (around 8am) and didn’t have issues with parking. The lot was filled by the time we got back

One of my favorite hikes ever, even with the crowds. A must see during winter, too!

This has taken the top spot for my favorite hike in RMNP.. We hiked it on Oct. 9th. The Ranger Station there has been closed for the season for several weeks now. Decent size parking lot but even with the cold, snowy, slushy conditions there were quite a few cars there and people on the trail. We did not need our spikes this time. The scenery is breathtaking under fresh snow. Copeland Falls is .4 miles in. Take the side trail to lower falls and follow it to upper Falls. There, you can connect back to the main trail. About another mile or so is Calypso Cascades. The trail gets a little steeper from here up to Ouzel. When you reach Ouzel, walk to the left side before the bridge down by the big rock and step out to the right to get a better view of the top of the Falls. You can’t see if from the bridge. We read about the trail up to the top of the Falls but weather conditions did not permit us to locate it. We took our time going up and MANY photo stops. Ascended in about 2 hrs 20 min. Hung at Ouzel long enough to eat a bite of lunch (it was really cold) then descended in about 50 min.
Loved every minute of it.

This is a pretty loop hike and is not as highly trafficked as going to the rock.

Great trail!! The dogs loved it, and me and my friend loved it. It was not far outside of Loveland. And like others have said, it is pretty rocky the farther you go. Like big red rock slabs! This is a super dusty walk though..just FYI. I really enjoyed myself though.. it was a nice incline and not too crazy. Everyone was respectful and nice.

My first 14er today at Mt.Bierstadt. It starts out not too bad, but I agree with these other comments, the elevation totally got to me and I felt like I had to stop constantly towards the steep part of the trail. Still feels like a great accomplishment! No mountain goats or any wildlife that we saw. Super windy at the top, so we did not stay long up there! With windchill I believe it was close to 15 degrees.

Yes, this is an absurdly popular hike, but that is for a very good reason. The views are just absolutely spectacular, and you get an awful lot of scenic beauty for relatively little effort. The whole thing is uphill, but it is not bad at all. In fact, you are doing it wrong if you zip through it, you should really stop frequently and just enjoy the amazing views that await around almost every corner. We did it on a weekday in October, hitting the trail head about 8:30 and that was definitely about as late as you want to arrive. The way out was fairly uncrowded, but the later part of the way back was just nuts. Near the end, we probably passed 100 people headed towards where we had just come from. It is easily the busiest trail I've ever been on, and as it starts to fill up, you get the more casual hikers, including loud teenagers, the families with lots of kids yelling etc. that really detracts from the serenity of the experience. We got to enjoy most of the hike, but had we started at 10AM I think we would have hated it. So this is one where you should start by about 7:30 if you want to avoid feeling like you went to Disneyland instead of RMNP. But don't let the crowds deter you, just start early.

Upper and lower Copeland Falls are a short easy hike less than half a mile in. Calypso Cascades is about 2 miles in and is slightly more uphill. Both are beautiful!! We arrived at the trailhead about 3:30pm and there were several spots to park. If you hike past Calypso Cascades about another mile you'll find Ouzel Falls. Much steeper and took about another hour up. Beautiful!! Took us about 3.5 hours round trip.

So amazing, but the wind almost blew my trailface off! Cray cray! Don't forget a jacket

One of our favorite hikes. Lots of people and parking sucks, but hike is wonderful!

Beautiful views and lakes!

Perfect hiking weather today and only encountered a few other hikers on the trail. We took south ridge on the way up to Horsetooth Rock and I would say it was a moderate hike. The summit is gorgeous with views in all directions. I would definitely do this hike again.

Nice trail with beautiful sight lines especially at the loch. Easy to the falls then moderate seems right, lots of rocks after the falls and 1200+ ft of gradual elevation. Didn't see any 5 yr olds in crocs lol. Go early as the nearby parking fills up fast and bring a second layer as it's noticeably cooler at the loch. .

Easy out and back hike that takes about 2-3 hours. Lots of shaded areas and stairs. Paul Bunyan’s boot can be found along the way. The lake itself is more like a dirty pond. Recommend going early to avoid the traffic and if you’re able to climb up a bit you can get a spectacular view on calm mornings.
