This hike was my first hike in Sedona and I was not disappointed. I expected it would take me about 3-4 hours but I ended up staying on the trail for 6 because I was stopping and enjoying the diverse scenery. As soon as you pass the retreat (which was loud due to construction) you run across a vortex tucked away in the brush. I noticed a few colorful totem poles that lead me right to it. As you continue through the canyon it turns from low brush to a beautiful Forest. I was surprised to see fallen yellow leaves, moss & grass out in the "desert". The trail only gets rugged towards the end, but is totally doable for inexperienced hikers. Once you make it to the end, there is a nice size space to sunbath on the rocks and enjoy the scenery. On my way back down I found another vortex area tucked off the side of the trail. I enjoyed a short break there before making my way back to the trail head. I highly recommend taking this hike!

Great trail. Moderate, easy and then sometimes butt burner. Keep in mind tho that the red sand is fine and if it has rained, which it had the day before we got there, it will be like clay and stick to your shoes or wheels, which for us having a new SUV we needed to get our horse brush out to clean them before putting in our vehicle.

Beautiful

Great easy trail. make sure to find the hidden trail across the creak about halfway back, this will take you up a steep climb to an archway in the rock, and a great spot to relax for awhile. The views are great.

Nice easy hike.

Beautiful spot. Worth stopping by and taking the short walk.

Very neat to see in person. Worth seeing.

This is my favorite trail in Sedona and a must for anyone hiking the area. We hiked this trail in early December and the weather was perfect; started with jackets and slowly removed layers as we went on. We started the hike at 10:30am and went counter-clockwise. The changing topography and the views makes the hike fun and keeps your interest. The only down-side is the noise from the jeeps, 4-wheelers, and dirt bikes that drive on the dirt road that runs alongside Munds Wagon, which you barely hear once you’re on Cows Pie.

For those with hiking experience this is a fairly easy trail with some elevation gain where the incline is steady but not strenuous. A pair of shoes with good grip is highly recommended, especially as you round the mountain on Hangover; you need to go down very steep portions and at times shimmying down on your bum is your best option. Don’t always follow the white markers, which are for mountain bikers, because there are better lines just to the left or right of them better suited for hikers.

I read some reviews that say this is not a good trail for children. We brought our 9 year old and he had no issues. He has only hiked a couple times and moved quickly through the trail. He is a little scared of heights and was nervous on a few occasions, where we held his hand to help him out. He loved scrambling down the steep side and enjoyed the break at the saddle. I would suggest this hike for children.

Great views from this high up! Nice little hike.

Breath taking both figuratively and literally.

Great and smoth

Great fun and short. Getting down was a hoot.

Great cool down after Bear Mountain hike. Be a good walk if it was really warm because the trail is situated in the trees. Had to piggyback my husband out at this point. Enjoy!

October 18- we hiked this trail in the afternoon. It had stunning views throughout. Tons of plants and animals to observe. It took us 1.5 hours. We parked at the trailhead since it had just stopped raining- but it can get pretty crowded. The highlight was listening to coyotes in the distance.

Easy trail but very scenic and rewarding. Worth checking out if you're already at the Chapel of the Holy Cross. The trailhead is not well marked but just look for the wood fence about halfway up the parking lot

Amazing views from top and man playing flute was so cool! Easy and good for kids.

Absolutely beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. We explored the area to the left of the end of trail sign. This hike was worth the scrambling.

We started out on this trail and due to the hot weather, decided to veer off on the shorter Vista Trail (about 20 minutes each way from the trailhead). We saw the yin (Kachina - feminine) and yang (male) vortices, along with a stunning view of the valley below. Highly recommend this short and rewarding hike!

A fun easy hike to an amazing vortex and view.

Loved this hike. A must at sunset.

Short but challenging technical hike with a few rock scramble areas. Views are worth the climb!

Beautiful views at top.

Easy walking trail with great views and educational pieces.

Great views and easy hike! As with the other reviews, stay off the 4x4 trail and just go up and back on the hiking trail.

Trail is great with beautiful vistas. Deeper into the canyon, hiking path narrows a bit and forested area becomes much cooler due to lack of sunlight. Trail becomes more challenging near the end as path is strewn with many rocks and slope becomes steeper. Trails end offers a nice view looking back down the canyon.

We loved this short and mostly easy Trail back into a gorgeous Canyon. We climbed up at the end of the trail for a gorgeous look back down the canyon.

SPECTACULAR views! Went counter clockwise based on reviews.-starting from parking lot with Munds Wagon Trail. Then followed Cow Pie trail up and over the rocks until it ended at the beginning of Hangover which took us back down the other side. One of my most favorite hikes. If you don’t like climbing down rock- I suggest going clockwise up trail and going up Hangover trail at junction and taking Cow Pie down.

Great easy-moderate trail. If you want to make it to the top, watch out for a bouldering part that could be tricky!

Nice views, but end is a letdown.

Very crowded, but not the hike's fault. Lovely and just enough of a challenge for an early morning workout.
