This hike is very nice for a clear day on the coast. Not recommended if you are afraid of heights! Pretty crowded on a Saturday morning. I downloaded the trail before I went and it was extremely helpful. You can get easily lost. The trailhead isn’t very noticeable just follow the map.

very tough hike. fantastic views. several places where we had to scramble and very slippery

Hiked on Oct 18. Well-marked trail, bathroom available nearby, no fee to park. Steep in sections, lots of roots on trial. Gorgeous views of the ocean. Take the short hike to Devils Cauldron. Very unusual trees-some had root systems that were above ground and saw lots of old growths.

This trail so super steep but so super rewarding. spectacular views. great work out. deffently a do again. some hands needed. strongly recommend poles.

Ill give this one 4 stars, but only because of the Rooty trail. Yes the trail is full of roots! But, if you persist you will be rewarded with an amazing view at the end at Falcon Point, 360 view of the ocean where you will be able to see the rock formations of the other points on either side. We stopped at Short Sands beach to dip our feet in the water and it was a perfect spot to end the hike.

Yes, a challenging hike, but if you take your time going back up, you can do it. I'd say it's a moderate hike, but not extremely hard. Counted 9 switchbacks to the bridge (helpful for the way up). We did not see the falls in the Cove. Maybe didn't take the correct path across the meadow to the back of the Cove, possibly the falls was dry. A few groups of us down at the Cove weren't sure if we'd missed it or if it was dry. But the views of the ocean were worth it anyways.

This is a great trail on a clear day. The views at the top are really beautiful. There is loose rock at some points along the trail but overall it wasn’t too bad. Be careful going downhill. Took a little over 3 hrs to complete round trip.

I did this hike on my birthday vacation and the views didn't disappoint! It had been a while since I had been hiking, and this wasnot only beautiful, but a great workout as well! I wouldn't consider this a hard hike, but definitely moderately difficult. Especially for those who aren't used to climbing hills. Otherwise, this was fantastic! Btw... my phone clocked this at 6.2 miles.

Awesome hike to this Clatsop County high point. On a clear day you can see Mt. Rainer, Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Adams, Mt. Hood, Mt. Jefferson, Nehalem Bay, the PacificOcean and the mouth of the Columbia River.

Moderate Hime with beautiful views

Fantastic trail for the family. Our 13 and 11 year old children handled it fine. Scenic forest and ocean shoreline views were amazing. Recommend taking water/trail snacks. Walked 12,000 steps and climbed 75 stories on apples’s health app. Trail can be quite slippery if damp.

I read a lot of reviews of this place before going. Several of them mention how insane the hills are and it is not for someone who is out of shape.
I'm not in shape. I only recently started trying improve my cardio after quitting smoking. by recent I mean within the last two weeks. Yes, the hills were pretty steep and long. but I didn't have any problem with it. I never felt like it was kicking my ass at all. I stopped once in a while to take a breather and get some water, but I didn't truthfully have any issue.
The journey was great in with a wonderful view and great out leaving me feeling rewarded for my effort.

Amazing hike. Amazing views. Love burning calories on this trail!!!

Nice periods of shade and sun. Overall nice hike. Lot of roots but help keep from slipping in some areas.

Gorgeous hike with amazing views of the Columbia River, the coast line, and five major mountain peaks on a clear day. It's mostly forested and easy the first half and exposed, steep, and rocky the second half.

Be sure to take the .2-mile spur to Humbug for more gorgeous views. This hike is easy enough if you're fit, but don't let it fool you, because it can also be treachorous. I strongly recommend good hiking boots with tread and hiking poles. The second half is steep with loose rock and wire fencing embedded in the ground that can be slippery without proper footwear. Even though it's short, be sure to take your ten essentials and enough food and water in case you're stuck with an injury. It's easy enough for the strongest hikers to sprain or break an ankle.

Well worth the hike. Definitely not easy, but I’m no expert hiker and did fine.

My favorite OR coast trail! It can get muddy but besides that, worth every step.

Well worth the trip - easy drive up. 90% uphill on the way up so a pretty easy way down! Super windy at the top but the views were some of the best I've ever seen. a few picnic tables spread through out to bring some snacks and rest up! Low traffic end of September

The trail is lava and you can only walk on the roots.

I feel so blessed to have been on the top of this mountain on a clear day. We saw Mt Ranier, Mt St Helen’s, Mt Adams, Mt Hood, and Mt Jefferson. We stayed at the summit exploring and taking pictures for a good hour and completed this hike in 3 hours including that time on top The chicken wire on the trail helps with footing. This is a must do hike. You see the ocean and the snow capped mountains

Don’t let the scary reviews keep you from this hike. You need to use common sense but I never felt overly exposed or scared. We were able to see whales from both the top and from almost the top. We did the loop trail and were on the road for over half the hike down. We decided to jump on the beach and enjoyed the waves to complete our loop. The view is incredible with minimal effort. Don’t miss this

My husband and I did this hike on a beautiful sunny day. The trail was easy to follow and we had no trouble completing it in sneakers. We hung out at many viewpoints and the top just soaking in the view and took the spur trail to the beach on the way back and rested by the water before heading out. Definitely worth repeating

Great trail. If you want to beat the crowd show up by 8

Road is blocked by huge trucks blowing out gross diesel smoke :( guess they are working on road but it’s not at all the peaceful forest experience I drove here for. Can’t walk or drive past and the trailhead is 3/4 mile past them

Awesome hike!!! Little sketchy on parts with mesh fencing put down on the trail, but overall pretty well maintained. Great views at the top!!!

Challenging, quiet and beautiful! Our Apple Watch showed 8.8 miles when we finished.

Fun trail. Strong climb. Well identified and guarded. Sturdy boots recommended and poles for those not-so-sure footed. Saw all 5 mountains at the top with even some high altitude cloud cover. The last third feels like you are in Scotland or Wales scenery wise.

I never get tired of this trail, it changes with the seasons. The Vine Maple is turning red now and there are a few wildflowers still blooming.
