Nice trail and not busy at all this time of year. Completed yesterday and the views at the top are well worth the short hike up. Icy in some areas but you don't really need spikes if you just tread carefully around the icy areas. I took them just in case but never used them.

Definitely one of the more difficult trials I’ve climbed. The view was stunning and the workout was even better.

long hike but well worth the veiw from the top did it in sept had nice weather

Beautiful day, perfect for a winter hike. Plenty of fresh snow, animal tracks, and evergreens. First mile and a half or so is well packed and I did just fine with microspikes, but snowshoes would be better for the rest.

The incline gets pretty steep, but it's definitely manageable. My friends and I enjoy going about 1 hr before it gets dark because at the top there's a beautiful overlook of Denver's city lights

Did this two days ago and didn’t encounter another person the whole way. It’s a good workout. You definitely need Yak Trax or spikes. There was a decent amount of snow in parts and some ice.

I did not finish the hike due to the last half-mile out being past your knees. It was beautiful but at times I was too hot or too cold with how I was dressed. I passed two dummies that were walking around in Boots and jeans and were covered in snow up to their hips essentially punching holes in the ground with their feet and ruining the blazed trail. Please do not do this. this ruins the trail for everyone who actually planned ahead and knew when it snowed you should bring snowshoes.

I went to hike this yesterday morning/early afternoon (12/7/2018) and the road we came in on was closed about 6 miles out. I did not try to loop around to the west nor did I head back east to go over and up and see if that pass was open. Beware.

Love this trail. A good steady incline up, beautiful buttery downhill to a nice creek flow off of the falls. Beautiful in winter, can’t wait to head back in the spring.

The trail is steep. Be prepared to stumble and loose footing. Wear shoes with lots of traction. It’s an adventure for sure.

The reviews don’t lie, this trail is hard. The way up is mainly an incline and the end of the trail is climbing up steep rocks. I ran into a lot of deer, and the trail was very peaceful and the view at the top was amazing. But be aware the way down is very slippery, and I lost my footing a few times. Worth the hike, but be mentally prepared for the challenge!

You’ll find mostly mountain bikers on this trail. The degree of difficulty is moderate only because of the “mountain slide trail” portion. It’s 2.9 miles up to the top of the mountain and 2.9 miles back. It starts off as an open meadow, which winds around into a very easily run valley that dips down just before reaching the mountain slide, which traverses around a moderately steep accent to the top. Many people take landscape pictures of the beautiful views at the top which the trail continues to wind around the back end of this mountain peak into a loop, leading back to the Matthew Winters Parking Lot/start/finish point. This land is located adjacent to Red Rocks, Morrison, Colorado.

definitely need spikes, thin layer of snow/ice over substantial part of trail, anywhere that is mostly shaded.

on Three Mile Creek Trail

A gental rolling trail that crosses the creek in several places. This trail isn't overly crowded. No snowshoes needed. The lower section of the trail is dry or covered with a light power. The upper sections have snow but compacted. I am not sure the mileage is accurate. I recorded over 7.6 miles and didn't make it to the end or valley. I would think this trail would be spectacular in the fall due to the abundance of Aspens.

This was a perfect hike to get the burn I was seeking, along with the views and also saw plenty of deer, 1 nice buck. I clocked 5 miles and 2083 elevation gain... May have got a little side tracked checking out the deer. Super easy to get to the trailhead and easy to follow trail. Great hike and views if you’re looking to get a workout in. If you’re afraid of heights.... be careful. Very rocky, loose rocks and pretty much straight incline the entire way, loved it. Worth it!

Icy in spots but clear path overall; wore traction going down. Beautiful trail

Great moderate hike. Not much snow today. took about 2 hours including a break at the top and I had a baby on my back. A great view once you get to the top and some nice aspens along the way....somebody even left a pre-rolled out there.

Only saw a few people in the distance on this one. not much traffic on Friday at 1pm.

*bonus*

This trail is HARD but very worth it. We saw everyone around us sliding and falling, so be careful! No ice/snow (surprising for december) but pretty biting winds near the peak. I would recommend a pole or two, though we went without just fine.

A great ball-buster of a hike. Love it!

Did this on 12/1/18. This trail is very difficult. I’d rather do Mt Evans 50 times before I ever do this again lol. It was worth it and had beautiful views at the top, but it was hard! The top scared me a little bit with how steep it was along with the scrambling, especially coming down, but I survived. No ice or anything since there hasn’t been a lot of snow.

Trail wasn’t difficult i would consider it more of a tough walk than a hike. I enjoyed the view at the top and the weather was perfect. The train was a mix of dry dirt and slippery snow. This is a good trail to just get outside and walk! I didn’t run into one person and I went around mid day.

Great views at the top of pikes peak. Well marked trail.

Beautiful views, well marked

I’ve hiked this trail multiple times. Was virtually empty today. You do need micro spikes to stay safe on the ice.

Pleanty of incline and finishes that with stairs that seem to go on, on. You are rewarded with views that go on forever & an old fire tower that is very cool to see. Very nice hike with many photo opts. Did this hike in July/18 and it was very busy but perfect weather.

Pretty exposed to sun if it’s out. The trail was rocky, technical and a steep incline off the bat but became more smooth down the line. Great views from the top!

Beautiful views on this trail! There is lots of ice on it right now but many ways to walk around it.

Short and steep, but great views at the top! Winds were a little crazy today, so didn’t spend too much time up top. Some icy spots on the trail that spikes may have been useful for, but managed just fine.

11/18/18. Always a great trail! I read recent reviews so we packed our snowshoes and wore micro spikes. Trail was totally packed down up to mile 2.6 and then we needed the snowshoes. Gorgeous day!
